Buttigieg

So Buttigieg is dropping out. I’m proud of what he accomplished and I’m going to miss him and all he had to offer the conversation. Not as much as I miss Kamala, mind you. But, I’ll miss him.

I doubt we’ll be missing him for long. He’s done a good job and build a great foundation of name recognition for whatever he wants to do next.

  2. Jane & PKM says:

Meh. He was no Beto. He had all the military pizzazz of a Tom Cotton, the racist charm of a Mike Pence, and none of the oratory skills of a Kennedy nor the vision. Only regret? Senator Harris didn’t stay in the race long enough to unleash a little verbal reality therapy on the rookie; she does know how to rip a poser. But he’s a keeper, as in keep him in Indiana.

  3. Scotty in Indiana says:

With luck we haven’t seen the last of him. Secretary of Veterans Affairs comes to mind quickly. State department will also have to be rebuilt. Hell, the whole federal government will have to be rebuilt and there are a lot of jobs he could do and do well

  4. If the thuglicans get crushed as they deserve buttigieg could then return to the electoral shambles that would be left and help rebuil an opposition party that embraces sanity versus the loony tunes that is todays thuglican party.
After all the thuglicans are his natural party embracing his policies and history from his days as a mckinsey consultant onwards. The party of money, greed, cultish fantasy’s and and corporate goveraance.
He is no more a D then bloomberg, lipinski, miss lindsey, or mcconnell.

I’m sorry to see him go but glad he was wise enough to know when it’s time. I’ll gladly keep him in Indiana as a senator or governor. But I think he has a lot to offer no matter where he lands.

    Jane & PKM nailed it.

  7. Well, I can’t say as I think Jane & PKM nailed it. I liked Pete Buttigieg. I think he has a great future in U.S. government, and I hope we haven’t seen the last of him either.

  8. I support somebody else, partly because Pete is too young to know how big his ignorance is. He needs more years of living and much more political experience, but these will undoubtedly season him to do good service in higher office. His dropping out of the race now is a good sign that his ego can give way to his judgement.

  9. Old Fart says:

I like Pete, primarily because he is clearly not an idiot, and because I like a message of hope. He is very much a white bread candidate, but even wonderbread is OK when it’s covered in barbecue with all the fixings. And, hallelujah, he’s YOUNG!

I REALLY don’t like the possibility that yet another old white guy will be the next POTUS, because (frankly) that isn’t representative of the country as a whole. Even if it is representative of me…

Sad to see him go – I agree with JJ- we’ve needed his voice in the mix, contrary to what Meme readers, instead of his actual policies, within the party think. At least now, hopefully the daily internalized homophobic attacks will return to being issued only from the right, and cease to come from within the Dem party. It has been eye opening, and yes, Sad, to see how his Campaign has exposed the latent phobic feelings with folks who claim to be progressive, as demonstrated on this page…. mirror folks, and try getting honest with yourselves- we need you to actual work that sh*t out.

Too bad. I just learned how to spell his name.

Nobody goes from mayor of a fairly small city to president, but as somebody wrote, the next gay candidate won’t be such a big deal. Before Barack Obama there were Shirley Chisholm and Jesse Jackson. America takes small steps.
