Why December 23rd? Why is Barr waiting until December 23rd to leave or for Trump to kick him out? It’s a Wednesday, the day before Christmas Eve. The only thing I can think of is that it is two days after a rare planetary alignment. I just don’t think that either Trump or Barr are that into Astrology.
And a little research said it’s Festivus. And Ken Paxton’s birthday, so maybe that’s Ken’s reward for the goofy appeal to the Supreme Court.
I’m pretty sure that Barr didn’t write that departing letter.
And what could it be that Trump wants to do that even Barr doesn’t want to be part of. Creepy stuff.
Some have speculated it has to do with massive pardons he doesn’t want to be associated with. Though since he was responsible for letting the Iran Contra criminals off, one has to wonder what could be worse. Oh, wait. Jared… Stephen Miller… Vanky…
1The Airing of the Grievances in D.C. this year oughta make a 47 part docuseries collaboration between Ken Burns and John Oliver.
2I had the same thought as Hannah @ 1. What if President Trump is planning to give out a pile of questionable pardons AS CHRISTMAS PRESENTS?
3I’d guess Trump wants more lawsuits to overturn the election. Maybe Trump will make Rudy the acting AG.
4I fully expect the next Toadie appointed as acting AG will push hard for indictments against top Democratic leaders.
As with all Trump’s efforts, it will be ineffective and embarrassing for the country.
5With his previous tenure in “gub’ment,” he may be close to qualifying for retirement?
Grifters gotta grift.
6Perhaps Barr came to the awful realization that he was going to own that circus and all those monkeys.
7An easy explanation for both the resignation and the suck-up letter: Barr has his own illegal actions which will turn up as soon as Biden’s AG takes over. He needs one of those sweet, sweet pardons himself, and it would stink like a dead skunk for a sitting AG to accept a pardon.
So the quid is to bail out and act like Trump was Caesar Augustus in the resignation letter, and the quo is a pardon for all crimes.
If that happens, Papa @7’s comment still applies. We need to make sure everyone knows just how badly Barr has politicized the DoJ, and publish every crime he’s responsible for – even if we can’t send him to Danville for i.
8Oh please make Ken Paxton the AG. Get him the heck out of Texas. I can take five weeks of him in Washington over the next couple of years here in Texas.
9How many papers does he need to shred?
10Barrf thinks some of his recent actions make up for the damage he’s done to the DOJ so he can be gainfully employed in the future. He’s stepping aside so Trumpf can install someone to do even more damage in the last 4 weeks of the maladministration that will make it difficult for the next DOJ to undo. Trying to think of who could be the most obnoxious acting AG. It’ll be hard to top Barrf but sure Trumpf handlers have that all figured out. Giuliani seems like the prime candidate.
11it would be so 2020 if Krispy Knome hires him for SD…
