Believing It’s True

February 24, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Here’s where the bad guys won.

Americans should not be confident about the security of the 2020 election, according to a slim majority of experts surveyed by The Cybersecurity 202.

“Every part of the voting process is vulnerable. This includes the voter registration process, the voting itself, the vote tabulation, and the results-reporting system, said Bruce Schneier, fellow and lecturer at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

It’s doesn’t have to be vulnerable, just believing it’s vulnerable is all you need.  Trump did not need an investigation of the Bidens, he just needed people to believe there was an investigation.

If Trump wins, they will announce that they did a magnificent job of protecting the voting.  If Trump loses, it was stolen, probably by Hillary, and he’s not going to leave the office.

Trump has people believing that they can trust no one, except him.  When, in fact, the opposite is true.

As an aside, people are suggesting the fear that Trump won’t leave the White House if he’s defeated in 2020. I used to hear the same rumors from Republicans about Barack Obama.  Trump will leave the White House. I personally know a goat roper with the instincts of a mountain lion and a horse named Prissy who who will bring that piece of livestock out the front door while you time her.

Nadine Farquar can also field dress the goat, build a proper fire and have roasted cabrito ready for dinner.  Somebody may have to go in and bring Prissy out because Prissy will get freaked that all the front part of the horses in there are totally missing – all you see are the rear ends.

See, I can pretty much fix everything.

  1. ” I used to hear the same rumors from Republicans about Barack Obama.”

Yes, but 44 has honor, confidence, and usually understands what truth is…

  2. Not to naysay Nadine’s skill set but the country deserves to see a combined operation of ATF, Secret Service and FBI perform a televised assualt featuring: Stun grenades, tear gas, night vision, (if needed) and leg irons. for the grand take down and frog hop parade of the entire family into the black mariah.

  3. And there is no “Squatter’s Right” thingy for the White House! If you are in it and you are past your leave time, you will get haul out and away. Thats a fact.

  7. The statements that Russia is helping Bernie are coming from Russia sure – but also trumputin. That is why he is almost giddy that Bernie is winning so many caucuses. Then when a Democrat – if it is Bernie – wins he can say the election was rigged and declare it mute. Yes – Russian meddling to the max,

A Historic Victory for Survivors Everywhere’: Harvey Weinstein Convicted of Felony Sexual Assault

“This verdict sends a clear signal that sexual abusers everywhere can and will be held accountable for their crimes—even if they enjoy significant positions of power.”

This is a developing story and may be updated.
Women’s rights advocates on Monday applauded the dozens of women whose decision to come forward about Harvey Weinstein’s pattern of sexual assault helped bring the former film executive and powerful Hollywood producer to justice, after he was found guilty of two sexual assault charges.

A jury in New York found Weinstein guilty of two felonies, first degree sex assault and third degree rape. It acquitted him of two counts of predatory sexual assault and of count of first degree rape.

Although the verdict was split, New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor—who broke the story of Weinstein’s decades of alleged abuse in 2018, setting off the #MeToo movement—tweeted that it signified the end of an era in which Weinstein faced no accountability for his actions.

“Today is a historic victory for survivors of sexual abuse everywhere, and the #MeToo movement that emerged in the wake of the courageous women who came forward to share their stories about Weinstein’s predatory and abusive behavior,” said Shaunna Thomas, executive director of women’s rights group UltraViolet. “This verdict sends a clear signal that sexual abusers everywhere can and will be held accountable for their crimes—even if they enjoy significant positions of power.

The verdict was handed down three days after the jury of seven men and five women told the judge they were deadlocked over the allegations of actress Annabella Sciorra, who testified about an attack by Weinstein that took place in the 1990s.
The guilty verdicts were found in the cases of a production assistant, Miriam Haley, and an aspiring actress, Jessica Mann, both of whom accused Weinstein of assaulting them in 2006 and 2013.

On social media, many offered support to the women and many others in Hollywood whose allegations of sexual harassment and assault set off the global #MeToo movement.

“Congratulations to the journalists who took risks and the news organizations that backed them. So much love and support to survivors everywhere,” tweeted Catherine Mayer, co-founder of the Women’s Equality Party in the United Kingdom.
Actress Ellen Barkin, an outspoken supporter of the #MeToo movement, tweeted that Weinstein’s conviction represents a rarity in rape cases.

Priority #1 – remove Orange Foolius* from office
Priority #2 – regain Democratic control of the Senate
Priority #3 – do what we can to make this election all about the will of the people. Vote and drag as many as you can with you to the polls to exercise their right to vote. Volunteer as an election judge for your local precinct. Do not allow the concern trolling Republicons to dissuade us from our objectives. Vote. See priorities #1 & #2.

  11. Megasold, I think that was the scariest, stomach churning movie I ever watched, along with its two sequels.

    11
  12. AK Lynne @ 11 Yeah, I used to have it on an ext. drive but deleted it. How many times do you want to watch torture and rape? I’ll pass on the sequels.

As podcaster Driftglass said, African American people endured centuries with no vote, no representation, no expectation of safety, just patience and a promise. Now for the first time that threat hangs over some white Americans of the liberal persuasion, and some (me) are tasting real despair for the first time in their lives. I have to remember to just keep putting one foot in front of the other, endure whatever indignities and threats and thefts Trump’s fascists perpetrate, work for wins when you can, keep your eyes on the prize, and the world will turn.

treehugger @6, a line from one of the songs that should be adapted as a campaign rally number: “I threw your* shit into a bag and pushed it down the stairs” (* all asterisks indicating impeached) The “I don’t care” refrain is a nice homage to Messy.

  16. Will Trump refuse to leave the White House if he loses? Maybe, but I think it’s equally possible that he holds a December Fire Sale of every pardon, appointment, or regulatory change he can take to the bank, followed in January by his resignation and pardon by President Pence.

K, we had hoped similar due diligence would have led to Donnie’s* defeat in 2016. Dawg knows we cannot rely on cable news to educate voters, so again, thank you.

LOL Yeah, that “scary” Senator Warren with those policy proposals of hers that will scare us straight to voting for her or Senator Sanders, if/when they are the Democratic nominee.

  20. The Surly Professor says:

Brad in Dallas: When I was young back in the previous century, Dallas was a viper’s nest of right wing nut jobs, John Birch Society debutantes, and one of the most crooked legal systems in the country. Every year it was a toss-up of whether Houston or Dallas got the title of “Throw-down City”, from cops gunning down whoever they disliked, then planting a gun on them to post-justify the execution.

But at some point you got a DA who started undoing the evil work of Henry Wade and now it seems that Dallas has entered the 21-st century in a far better place. So just maybe there is hope for the country at large to do the same.

Except for Fort Worth. It seems intent on heading back to the 1920s.

    20
  21. Brad in Dallas, thanks for the reminder. I haven’t checked Driftglass in too long. I have already been thinking about John Lewis and his steady leadership through horrors this privileged white woman can only try to imagine. Representative Lewis is one of my heroes. When I’m feeling down about the current Orange Madness (the person and his cult) I remember John Lewis, and Elijah Cummings, and Kathrine Johnson, and Idella Harris (personal), and, and, and, and I pick myself up and vow to keep going. For them more than for me.

This is as much for the ones who went before us as it is for those who will come after.

    21
  22. The Surly Professor says:

RA: to me, a measure of a great person is the crop of young folks they inspire, lead, and launch into careers. MLK filled that role amply, with John Lewis still raising hell in his 80s. Look at photos of him marching in Alabama, and the first rank of those young people with him have made the US a better country.

Washington, Lincoln, FDR as presidents did the same. In math and the sciences, the people I most admire aren’t the lone wolf geniuses, but the people who changed the world with the next generation of their students and followers.

Of course, now I gotta point out the people Trump has foisted upon us. Steve Miller? Steven Bannon? Ken Cuccinelli? Betsy DeVos? Paul Manafort? Ivanka and Jared? All leaving a slimey trail behind them.
