AOC Speaks

August 11, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I am excited to see that AOC is going to speak at the Democratic Convention.  And, no, I do not think it’s going to turn off “soft Republicans.”

First of all there is no such thing as a soft Republican, thanks to Trump. Soft Republicans are now members of Never Trumpers.

Look, the Trumpians are going to call us socialist and poopie heads no matter what we do or say so we might as well fire up our base.

I am not worried about Trump having the most votes because he doesn’t. I am worried that our people just won’t vote. And I think AOC is a person headed for greatness. Under all the pressure she is under, she has not let her mouth get ahead of her brain. She has remained calm and sure of herself. I like her and I would vote for her. I’m going to clap when she speaks.

  1. The courage of the woman in indisputable. I remember her grilling the head of homeland security regarding some photo shopped images of her with male sex organs in proximity with her face. Without anger, she calmly questioned him until he simply answered meekly and repetitively.

Joe Biden had been warned by her about dangling platitudes in his campaign, or else.

  2. Blink, blink.

You mean we’ve survived until the 2020 DNC? And we get to have young, non-male speakers?

    OOOOOOOOH. YES!!!!

Thirty years from now when she’s the grande-dame of one of America’s great political parties, the DSA, her colleagues will poke a little fun at her back in 2020 being a rising star in what became the opposition, conservative party in Congress.

  4. ….and she publicly kicks GOP butt in an awesome way.

  5. Here’s to Our Powers That Be recognizing the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party once again.

  6. I have been giving $10 a month to her campaign organization since her election. I don’t know if she needs it, but I like to give it.

Billionaires need workers, but workers don’t need billionaires. – AOC

  7. She is the right person at the right time, I want a future with her and others who think and act like her in positions of national influence and authority.

I want to live long enough to see AOC elected president.

Also, what Vic quoted: Billionaires need workers, but workers don’t need billionaires. –AOC

  9. I agree, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is thoughtful, hardworking, and intelligent. If you listen to her speak, then hear the rightwing propaganda’s hand-waving eye-bugging description of her it’s easy to spot the logical fallacy. Ocasio-Cortez is the boogey-woman Republicans invented to keep their supporters close. “Don’t get out of bed! Or look in the closet! The AOC will get you! And she’s not alone, you can’t escape, she has a squad!”

  10. Grandma Ada says:

All who still cling to the GOP need to read George Conway’s editorial in WaPo today and ask themselves if they believe all the things he listed.

  11. Jonathon Hubbert says:

Applause (noun) / Applaud (verb) is for Democrats

    Clap (what-evv-verrrrr) is for republi-cons & -can’ts

  12. Jonathon Hubbert says:

    Gr-Ada –

Yes they believe it and call Conway a prig, apig, a liar and worst of all (to them) a “Pelosi Dumbacrap”.

That they FEEL is the difference. We think; then we believe.

I’m 200% in favor of AOC. Had a long conversation this weekend with my Millennial son, who is not happy that Bernie is not the candidate, but will campaign full force for Joe. Frankly, I am looking forward to the day that the Millennials and up-and-coming group (Gen whatevers) will outnumber the Boomers and we get more people like AOC in positions of leadership.

  14. treehugger @ 13 That day is here.
Gen Z’s reporting for public service…SIR!
    I liked Bernie too.

  15. @Brad in Dallas #3,
I hope your dream comes true, even though I might even join the more conservative Liberal Democrats. I’ll wait and see the platforms. After the fourth consecutive blue wave in 2024 leaves the GOP with 12 Senators and 57 members of the House, it would not trouble me to see a split between the Democratic Socialists and the Liberal Democrats. All the better to relegate the GOP to the ash heap of history.
