And The List Goes On
Well, CNN decided to track corporate donors to federal candidates so you can know where to spend your money.
Look, I’d just as soon see all of the corporate donors stop it and give their money to charity instead of buying congress. This looks like a pretty good start.
Thanks to Phyllis for the heads up.
I’d like to see that list revisited in the fall.
1For those who are like me are unaware of these things: you can click on a row (i.e., a company) and get the breakdown of just who they gave money to. In case anyone wants to check for names like Hawley or Cruz.
Also, you can click on a heading and get the list sorted based on that heading.
Also, part 2: I don’t care who they give to or “pause” money from, Comcast still sucks.
Finally: thanks, Phyllis!
2Lowes and Home Depot are notoriously rightwing.
3AK Lynne @ 3,
I’m sure they sell a lot of tiki torches.
The Surly Professor @ 2,
4You’re welcome!
Frankly, I’d like to see corporate donations banned. Corporations are NOT people. They are run by people who already can contribute, and usually do. Only a tiny group within a corporation decides where their money is going to go, and the current scheme lets this small group, or even just ONE person, control the political disbursment of millions of dollars. They get a ridiculously outsized influence by gaming the system.
5Lowes and Home Depot both no? Fortunately we have great locally owned hardware/home stores in town. Helpful service and if they don’t have it, they’ll get it for you.
