And That’s Why Alfredo Works Over At The Dairy Queen

September 25, 2012 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Y’all all know my friend Alfredo over at the Dairy Queen who has the inside scoop on lotsa stuff.

Thank you, Alfredo

Well, in case y’all were wondering why Alfredo works at the Dairy Queen, there’s a good explanation for that.  Dairy Queen is one of the five fast food chains that donate to Democrats.  Warren Buffet’s Berskshire Hathaway acquired DQ in 1998, and that’s why there’s a whole cup of happy in every Blizzard.

The other four are Checkers, Panera Bread, Popeye’s Chicken, and Starbucks.

Damn, I’m hungry.

Thanks to Carol for the heads up.

  2. I’ve got a hunkering for a DQ Dude!

  3. Love all them places, but panera best of all. Love to take a laptop, settle in, and work in those nice comfy chairs, with unlimited refils on my coffee!

  4. Gong to get a “thank you” blizzard today.

  5. So, that may explain why my congressvarmint sold his Dairy Queen franchise stores to finance his run for congress. He’s so far right, he makes Louie Gohmert look like a moderate. You might remember him, he made the statement last year that he couldn’t feed his family on the $400K he had left over after paying his taxes. John Fleming, what a tool!

  6. Like this. Spending on food AND investing in a better future at the same time. SWEET.

  7. Turtle blizzards after supper tonight!

  8. I don’t go to Dairy Queen often as there is not one nearby, but I’ll just have to start visiting the nearest one more frequently for a blizzard fix. I often visit the other Democratic establishments listed.

There’s a Panera right next to the Trader Joe’s I go to in Hollywood District of Portland. It’s a special Panera. You order your food, as usual. But there are only ‘suggested’ prices. You pay what you can afford. If you can afford a little more to help a needy person eat there, you add a little more. It all goes in the box. There is no cashier who can handle money. They will get you change for a $20 if you need it.

  10. Thanks Ralph. Although I do not eat much fast food, we do have wonderful DQ in Clarksville, TN. I eat there when in town, and have been there more since becoming JJ-acquainted with Alfredo. Wish he was near me. Now I know where NOT to spend a single dime for the PACS of REPIGGERY.

  11. Popeye’s is my guilty pleasure. Thank goodness that the local one left–it’s a lot better for my waistline.

  12. I had an interesting Popeye’s experience last night. Pulled up to the drive-thru, was promptly informed that they are out of spicy. That’s okay, I just want regular. That’s a 10 minute wait. You’d think, that if you work in a fast food restaurant that sells chicken that you’d have, you know… chicken?

Still and all, “Love that chicken from Popeye’s!”

I’m emailing this to everybody I know who buys conscientiously, and posting on Facebook. I know lots of people who try hard to put their money where their mouth is.

  14. I just put that article on my Facebook page, stating: This is good to know if you care to dine at a place that caters to your political taste!

I can’t remember the last time I was in our local DQ, or go to the Popeye’s in Pueblo … but I do enjoy a Sonic burger and onion rings occasionally and we do have one local and it has a purple spoon. I don’t go to most of the places listed anyway but now I know which ones NOT to go to! LOL

    15
  15. I love knowing this, but wonder how Panera made the list: they have a huge lawsuit against them for race discrimination. Nasty stuff, supposedly in many regions.

    Who will research more?

    16
  16. I’m SO GLAD to hear that Dairy Queen is good folks! I love Dairy Queen. Hurray! The Sonic used to donate to the Dems too; I don’t know if they still do.

  17. Another comment re: eateries, I boycott any restaurant that has Fox News playing when I go in, if they will not change channels. I’m not rude. I just ask them and if they say no, I say well, I don’t want to watch Fox News while I eat, and then I leave. Not bragging, just saying, you too can do that.

My 11 year old knows that we do NOT do Bluebell (and she knows why); she automatically asks for Blizzards. You’re never too young to eat with a conscience!

  19. What a handy list! Thanks!

  20. Just thought I would add to my earlier comment. Fleming may have sold his DQ’s but he still owns the majority of the Subway’s in Shreveport and Bossier City, LA. So if you don’t want to fund his crazy, don’t eat there while traveling through the area. Subway, the corporation, was kind enough to send me a list of those not owned by Fleming. I simply explained to them that I didn’t want to offend his union hating sensibilities by spending a union negotiated wage at his stores. List available on request.
