An Open Letter To My Republican Colleagues

February 25, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Adam Schiff and words.

To my Republican colleagues: When the president attacked the independence of the Justice Department by intervening in a case in which he is implicated, you did not speak out. When he attacked the press as the enemy of the people, you again were silent. When he targeted the judiciary, labeling judges and decisions he didn’t like as illegitimate, we heard not a word. And now he comes for Congress, the first branch of government, seeking to strip it of its greatest power, that of the purse.

Many of you have acknowledged your deep misgivings about the president in quiet conversations over the past two years. You have bemoaned his lack of decency, character and integrity. You have deplored his fundamental inability to tell the truth. But for reasons that are all too easy to comprehend, you have chosen to keep your misgivings and your rising alarm private.

You know, Republicans used to hate The Imperial Presidency and I’m certain they will go right back to hating it as soon as there’s a Democrat in the office.  You know, just like a national debt – it depends on who is spending the money.

Thanks to Adam Schiff for reminding them.

Be social and share!

  1. Hear, hear!

In case nobody caught Nancy’s baby claps slap down photo.

  2. The Repugs have been busy painting themselves into a corner ever since they allowed the tea party to get a hold of part of their base. The base itself has dwindled down, however, those remaining have gotten more and more extreme. Although gerrymandering has helped them maintain power to this point, this president has reduced the base number further down, while becoming more slavering rabid. The GOP has killed itself. They are in a tight corner. Afraid to anger tRump, because they can’t get reelected if they don’t have that base.

  3. Thanks Schiff… more Dems more!

“But for reasons that are all too easy to comprehend”

Many of us can see the elephant in the room that Republicans worship Power, Bigotry and Greed

  4. WOW!

  5. If only there were any Republicans left who felt one tiny bit of shame about their lack of integrity and their complete groveling to Trump on just about every single thing. So glad Schiff is letting them know they need to step up and do the right thing. Unfortunately, we all know they won’t.

  6. The thuglicans remind of a description of the germans circa ’30’s and 40’s Of being a nation of “carniverous sheep”. I beleive was Neibuhr but not willing to bet.
So it is with todays thuglicans

We could debate the “start” of the demise of the snocilbupeR* Party, or just accept it began the day President Lincoln was shot. Too lazy to type all the milestones they’ve passed on the way to the bottom, so will merely list a few since the New Deal terrified them into rabid capitalism. Ironically Barry Goldwater attempted to warn them when they embraced the KKKristian Wrong. Dirty Tricks with Nixon and Roger Stone, et al. Lee Atwater with Reagan & Bush1 who if IQ45 cared to be accurate is responsible for creating conditions that are still creating asylum seekers today from Central America. Dubya, Cheney & Rummy, dog help us all who were the most st00pid and corrupt bunch ever, until the Dotard45 maladministration arrived.

The House has some remarkably decent people. Adam Schiff, of course, Maxine Waters, Elijah Cummings, Fredericka Wilson, Barbara Lee, Jackie Speier, Eric Swalwell, Sheila Jackson Lee, Pramila Jayapal, Ted Lieu, John Lewis; thankfully, too many to list. Thing is they are all Democrats. Praise dog and the deities they now have the majority.

Although currently in the minority, the decent folks in the Senate also just happen to be all Democrats with two Independents. Can the Republicons be shamed? Can the snocilbupeR voters be educated, or at least have their heads removed from their sitting positions?

Another nicety would be the media giving more air time to Rep. Schiff and others who speak the truth. Imagine a Sunday without the usual suspects propagating lies. Or, any day on CNN and MSNBC without “both sides.” There is no “both sides” to a debate, when one side is flat out lying.

*Micr, snacilbupeR had to become snocilbupeR to account for the CON in Republicon.

I will even have more trouble sleeping. The back and leg pain is nothing compare with my heart pain over what the republicans, and specifically Donald Trump has done to America. We have lost our purpose and our soul.

    8
  9. I haven’t researched this, but it seems that Republicans show some backbone and vote against their party only when there aren’t enough of them to make a difference. A prime example is Susan Collins who voted for Kavanaugh and now says she is voting against Trump’s “emergency declaration”. Do you suppose they ask for permission first?

The only senator I know who doesn’t have to get permission is Lisa Murkowski, but she doesn’t do it often enough to make a difference either.

  10. 1smartcanerican says:

Schiff’s comments, which are so true, remind me of this:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
    Niemöller

    10
  11. 1smartcanerican:
Niemoller’s story is particularly relevant now IMHO. According to Wikipedia, he was a Naval officer of some distinction, rising to the rank of decorated U-boat Commander during WW1. And a staunch German Nationalist. But after becoming a clergyman and renouncing Nazism (after initially supporting Hitler, even as a preacher), he was chucked into Dachau, service be damned, for 7 years until being liberated by the Allies. Lucky to have survived.
To me, the parallels are there, if not always obvious.
But the Weaselheaded F**knuggett will destroy the lives, careers, and everything he possibly can of ANYONE in public service who doesn’t show loyalty to him as supreme leader, instead of the……
    Constitution.

    11
  12. Adam is right on course. However, have noticed that invertebrates very often are “illiterate”.

    12
  13. AK Lynne !9, ironic that you should mention Susan Collins. A retired Senator from Maine, Olympia Snowe, along with other out of office snocilbupeR signed a letter asking that current Republicon members of Congress do their Constitutional duty and check this runaway maladministration, IQ45 in particular.

    http://jobsanger.blogspot.com/2019/02/open-letter-from-former-gop-congressmen.html

Sad. Sitting Republicon members of Congress have no apparent idea why they are sitting there. Or, at least they have no intention of fulfilling their roles as outlined in the Constitution.

    13
  14. Linda Phipps –

Have you tried CBD oil for the pain? I use it in combo with other things, and it helps.

    14
  15. A recent variation on Niemöller at #10: “First they came for the journalists. And we don’t know what happened after that.”
