And It Begins in the Supreme Court
Putting radical partisans in charge of protecting our Constitution will have results negative to everyone, and here we go – Trump unilaterally ended the Obama administration’s policy of tolerance, the SCOTUS, including Boofer Kavanaugh, just reversed a lower court ruling staying his order. So now, yet another group of patriotic Americans are again being made pawns in Trump’s political game of chance. More gleeful cruelty and dickishness, just because they can.
Nowhere in the ‘government’ filing were the words one might expect: “to maintain unit cohesion and military readiness.” Where was the old court martial for sunburn due to destruction of government property argument? Has something bizarre happened to the military physical fitness for duty standard? Not understanding something here. Dotard45 was declared unfit for military duty due to imaginary bone spurs that occurred on which ankle; he forgets. However, someone who has their psychological balance in fine order, just needs a tune up in the genitals is suddenly unfit? Maybe we should rename this the “No Viagra for You” policy and watch the flag officers come howling out of the Pentagon in protest.
Most unsettling about this ruling was the argument by Solicitor General Noel J. Francisco, representing the administration. Something to the effect that Donnie is upset about being ruled against in multiple courts on multiple issues. Call that the lament of the sore loser defense. Worse yet the Cons on SCROTUS pandered to Francisco’s “I lost, so this can’t be right” malarkey.
A little military history. We survived the blacks, the women, and the homosexuals. We’ll be just fine with the transgender, too. Last I knew it was crazy ass neocon policy that was getting us all killed.
1My sainted father, who was one of Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children from December, 1941 until early 1968, called his Marines, Marines. When asked about their colors he told the asker that all Marines were green. He told the story of catching a just arrived recruit drawing swastikas on blank pages of his recruit notebook. That msf was willing to admit that he threw, rolled, kicked, and drug the recruit to the MCRD Brig for immediate separation at approximately 0300 testifies to me that while notice may be taken of skin color in our Corps of Marines, racism IS NOT TOLERATED. At his funeral a very large black man, some 10 years younger than me, introduced himself and delivered the message that msf was both the most influential male in his life and the the only male he had ever met that he feared.

This will be reversed again eventually, as the other bans were, but good people will suffer needlessly until it is. As with the other bans. Once again, conservatives fighting tooth and nail the fact that we’re all human beings.

Gist: “In declining to hear these cases, the Supreme Court saw through the administration’s contrived efforts to gin up a national crisis,” said Jennifer Levi, director of the Transgender Rights Project of GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders.
“Unfortunately,” she added, “the court’s stay of the lower courts’ preliminary orders means that courageous transgender service members will face discharges while challenges to the ban go forward. The Trump administration’s cruel obsession with ridding our military of dedicated and capable service members because they happen to be transgender defies reason and cannot survive legal review.”
Let’s be clear: the attempted ban on transgender service members is based on reasoning that has been thoroughly dismissed by medical organizations, military leadership, and budget analysts. Its sole purpose is to erase trans people from the public square. That’s all this is.
