Won’t Wait Till Next Friday Toon And More
Okay, so this was in the news:
Vice President Kamala Harris accused Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) of “dereliction of duty” over their recent transports of migrants to Democratic-led cities.
“I think it is the height of irresponsibility … frankly, a dereliction of duty, when you are an elected leader, to play those kinds of games with human life and human beings,” Harris said in an interview with Vice News. “If you think there is a problem, be part of the solution.”
I had to read that a couple of times. Dereliction of duty? That’s what she thinks it is?
Now, I’m not going to make any friends saying this, but what the damn hell?
This, Madam Vice President, is human trafficking.
This is a full frontal assault on human decency, the Virgin Mary, the Boy Scout Code, the Ideals of Alpha Kappa Alpha, the Binglewood Homeowners Association, and every damn thing your mother taught you.
Duty is about eighteen rungs above these guys on the ladder of self actualization.
This is like saying that because these immigrants were not fed on their 16 hour journey, Abbott and DeSantis broke southern hospitality customs.
This is human trafficking. Say it.
Damn, I am tired of being being wimpy.
I keep waiting for NYC or DC to arrest the bus drivers and charge them with human trafficking. Or, suing the bus companies. That oughta get somebody some attention.
It’s not only that buses show up unannounced and unexpected, at least there were volunteers at Union Station who know what to do. Now, A Butt is dropping them off in front of the VPs house–which isn’t close to the White House and even farther from Union Station. I keep expecting the Secret Service to step in, since this is on their watch.
1JJ, I think you’re right and she’s right. These instances aren’t their first dereliction of duty. I also have to think there were federal immigration officials in both states that closed their eyes to allow the trafficking to happen.
2I also agree the companies that transported the immigrants were complicit and should be held accountable. An Oregon company was paid almost 3/4 of a million to fly them to Martha’s Vineyard from Florida and Texas. Impound their damn planes.
USC 1324, section ii and iv describe this activity in detail and add jail/fines to it. If it were applied to Abbott, he’d be in jail for a few thousand years. Also, was the Wynne Transportation (buses) a no-bid contract? The Wynnes are big GOP donors from way back.
3What a guy. He provided new immigrants from South America tourist packets of Martha’s Vineyard and MA so it was all humane. I’m sure everything was in their language as well as the consent forms they were forced to sign. Regular Nobel peace prize material he is.

4You know when someone says “frankly”, they are probably going to hedge… humm and haw.
5One doesn’t need to preceded a fact with “frankly”.
Ted Cruz tweeted, “The Obamas should host the 50 illegal aliens in their $12 million compound on Martha’s Vineyard!”
Ted Cruz, who was born in Canada, and whose father was allowed to jump to the head of the immigration line like thousands of other Cubans.
Ted Cruz, who could buy his own “$12 million compound” with the money his wife makes at Goldman Sachs.
Does he even know what “hypocrisy” means?
6Beautifully put, JJ. And I lost my tolerance for being wimpy a long time ago.
7Dereliction of duty probably resonates more with the pundit class, and with the never-trumpers.
8Messrs DS and Abbott – TERRORISTS .
9Thanks JJ, cartoon is perfect!
10I think the Government should open a little “dereliction of duty” criminal investigation.
The Bexar County Sheriff, Javier Salazar [who’s a Dem I think] is opening an investigation into the DevilSantis human trafficking atrocity.
Let’s hope that Ronnei D [TOFG thatotherFingguy], Perla, et al have an opportunity to spend some quality time at the resort named the Greybar Inn very soon.
Bexar County sheriff launches investigation into people who ‘lured’ migrants onto charter flights

“Sheriff Javier Salazar said Monday the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is opening an investigation into whether people who “lured” migrants onto planes to Martha’s Vineyard did so “under false pretenses.”
Two flights of migrants departed San Antonio’s Kelly Field last week and landed at the Massachusetts resort island. A 27-year-old Venezuelan migrant told the San Antonio Report a woman paid him to recruit other migrants for the flights, telling him the people would be sent to “sanctuary states.” …”
