Oh Hell, They Did It

July 21, 2022 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Alternative Facts

I was writing for one of my paying jobs earlier this week and made the comment that no matter what dumb butt thing the Texas Governor does, it will be blamed on the border and the lack of a wall.

In case anybody thinks I was wrong or overstating the situation, the boys who write at my local newspaper decided to give me a hand and prove my theory.  I appreciate their help but What The Fried Okra were they thinking?

Try your damnest to read this.

In all my years, I have never heard of a Smoky and the Bandit chase through Odessa. Odessa is 250 miles from Del Rio and 290 miles from El Paso.  It’s almost closer to Fort Worth than the border.  It’s desert and snakes.  Odessa is not a border city and a lockdown is a lockdown. Schools in the inner city have lockdowns all the time, thanks to guns in the area.

Governor Abbott looked the fool for his handling of the press after this horrific event.  His supporters need to distract from that fact and blame someone else.

Dudes, we need to talk to this “investigator” who believes that repetition of facts and actions is not a factor in learning.

You wanna know what another “factor” might have been?  Letting a teenager with mental health problems buy a weapon of mass destruction.  Not coming to their aid for over an hour.  Police who are are not brave or leaders.  I dunno, but practicing did not cause this event.

Newspaper Boys, the absence of a wall is not what’s making Greg Abbott stoopid. He was born that way.

Hoo, boy! This torturing logic beyond all recognition. I blame it on the heat myself.

The writer of the opinion piece neglected to mention all the migrants that have committed mass murders with assault rifles. Oh, that’s right, it’s zero.
And now they’ll be able to get an even more deadly army weapon thanks to gun manufacturer with no conscience- Sig Sauer. They already sold out their initial inventory. Just what we need, a rifle so powerful it can rip through any body armor (and doors, walls, etc.).

  4. This scene from Jurassic Park perfectly describes that article.

  5. Not Smokey and the Bandit…smoke and mirrors is more like it.

Steve from Beaverton @3, Calm down y’all, most of this crap about the new SIG Sauer weapon is either cynical marketing hype or hysterical over reaction by libs.

I’ve compared the published ‘ballistic performance’ numbers of the new .277 Fury cartridge used in the MCX-SPEAR ‘assault rifle’ to several other common [and some ancient] ones, like the 30-06, .270Win, .223Rem/5.56, etc., and the numbers just aren’t that much different…

So this isn’t going to be some new ‘super weapon’, it’s just another means among many of killing a bunch of innocent people… while making oodles of money for SIG.

BTW, how the hell did Odessa get into this article?
Uvalde –is– close to the Mexican border, about 40-60 miles away, and on a major smuggling route.

Even where I now live, about 250 miles from the border [after spending most of my life within 10 miles of it], sees frequent LEO and ICE [Migra/BP] activities all over the area associated with smuggling ops. I don’t know how the schools react to it though.

Aliens in a flying saucer scooped up my Uncle Melvin one night in Odessa. He suddenly appeared later in Orange but didn’t report the incident to police because, as he said, “t’wasn’t so much of a kidnapping as a rescue mission.”

Wait – I thought the problem was doors?

    Grandma Ada:

Yep. Them doors are buying assault weapons and killing children. Damn doors.

  11. I would be remiss to point out that there is a reason we don’t do excessive lockdown drills or ALICE drills as we call them here. If you watch a typical fire drill you will get the idea. We do those once a month as mandated by law. Students slowly shuffle out and gab with their friends because they know it isn’t real. The drills always come towards the end of the month because they just interrupt instructional time and we want to put them off as long as possible. I’m not sure how well they effectively train students because in a real fire I guarantee they wouldn’t be walking or gabbing.

Uvalde is a tragedy of our own making. Maybe they could have been faster or locked their classroom doors or barracaded the door. Maybe the door could have locked from the inside. Or maybe the cops could have gotten off their ass and gone inside. Maybe you don’t sell an assault weapon to a teenager or anyone else. There are just so many things going on here.
