Pete Davidson Apologized For Less Than This
A lot of you probably remember when Saturday Night Live comic and strange person Pete Davidson made fun of Texas Republican congressslick Dan Crenshaw by saying Crenshaw looks like “a hitman in a porno.” And then the following weekend, he had Crenshaw on to apologize to him in person. You can find it on YouTube if you’re interested.
Okay, so let’s skip ahead to the Texas GOP Convention this weekend.
Oh, Honey, you never saw such carrying on in your life. First they kicked the Log Cabin Republicans out and told them they could not have a booth at the convention. The Log Cabin Republicans said they were being divisive and exclusionary. Okay, they actually have not teaching CRT in schools, which is also divisive and exclusionary, but the Log Cabin Republicans don’t appear to be able to look beyond their own noses.
They booed John Cornyn. In all honesty, I boo him, too.
And then there was a group of people who followed Dan Crenshaw around calling him “Eyepatch McCain.” They also called him a Globalist and think he should be hung for treason.
Oh good Lord, rightwing Republicans really do need to put away those ropes. We remember what they did with them the last time they had them.
But my soul is at peace. Slick Dan put himself as star in a video getting other Republicans to run.
For the rest of his damn life he has to live with the fact that his tryout tape for Captain America was ridiculous and I’m snickering.
I’m kinda looking forward to seeing what platform they come up with.
Platform???
We don’t need no stinkin’ platform!*
*The credo of the entire national GOP for the last few years.
1According to Heather Cox Richardson (
https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/june-18-2022):
“…delegates to a convention of the Texas Republican Party today approved platform planks rejecting “the certified results of the 2020 Presidential election, and [holding] that acting President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was not legitimately elected by the people of the United States”; requiring students “to learn about the dignity of the preborn human,” including that life begins at fertilization; treating homosexuality as “an abnormal lifestyle choice”; locking the number of Supreme Court justices at 9; getting rid of the constitutional power to levy income taxes; abolishing the Federal Reserve; rejecting the Equal Rights Amendment; returning Christianity to schools and government; ending all gun safety measures; abolishing the Department of Education; arming teachers; requiring colleges to teach “free-market liberty principles”; defending capital punishment; dictating the ways in which the events at the Alamo are remembered; protecting Confederate monuments; ending gay marriage; withdrawing from the United Nations and the World Health Organization; and calling for a vote “for the people of Texas to determine whether or not the State of Texas should reassert its status as an independent nation.””
I have no words to add. Just no words.
2I’m surprised that they didn’t include Articles 9&10 of the Original Republic Of Texas Constitution.
3I’ve got hundreds of jumps out of a Twin Otter but not by myself as their operating costs are kinda pricey. Usually about 20 divers per load. My guess is this was done out of Spaceland ,Tx, drop zone.
4I couldn’t finish watching Mr. Ego’s circle jerk with himself. Did he land on the White House lawn?
Per Peon: on words; this will go on until enough of them suffer a significant personal loss before any change will happen which will have to include their succeeding generations since they are being taught by these current people as they themselves were taught by their parents.
A possible shortening of this time frame could be made possible by an attack from trump’s bf putin.
I guess it’s a tiny step up from, “whatever that guy says” pointing at 45. I guess isolationism is alive and well. They’ll ban everyone and then they’ll attack the mirror. It’s really the last step.
5If it wasn’t such a detriment to our country, I would laugh. But these people have lost their minds, yet can vote. I wish Biden had been able to get some of his BBB plan passed, but Manchin sealed the Dems fate in November. We live in scary times!
6Peon, the Texas gop platform is pure Q, trumpf and hate. I would expect the same from many more blood red states and the NRC. As Grandma Ada said, we live in scary times indeed.
7Ds tend to fight with facts and Rs with images. That’s a slick video that has no substance. But probably very effective on the TX R crowd.
P.S., Here’s another video, about NRA / gun control, that tries to bring in some image-driven arguments (~2 minutes).

8Can Night of the Long-Barrel .45s be far off?
9IF the trumpublicans win in this state in November, with the platform I read, this 6th generation Texan is going to be looking for another state. I cannot abide by the regressive, authoritarian dictatorship we are headed for.
10Victor Frankenstein had second thoughts way too late after creating his monster. Not so much with the GOP.
Unlike the novel, this won’t end with the monster disappearing on an Arctic ice floe.
Harry Eager @ 9,
You may be right.
11Seems a couple of the things these crazy people didn’t put in their missive is the reinstatement of slavery and a punishment for witches. But I’m sure they’ll work them in somehow.
12Ya mean R’s can actualluy spell platform? And give a simple definition? Wow!!! Who da thunk it!
