I can almost understand why this is.
You can’t have a plan with Trump. Remember the paper towel thing with Trump in Puerto Rico? He didn’t think of that distribution method until he got there and when he saw that it worked, he just kept at it at it and at it. When he left, he was convinced that the best distribution method was to just start throwing food at the hungry people. Genius. Pure genius.
Hell, here’s a guy still trying to convince people that doctors are making up all these deaths to jack up their bills. Why give a vaccine for something that doesn’t exist?

I got my first vaccine yesterday, Bubba got his two weeks ago. We got on teevee news about how come I didn’t get one but he did. I said just luck of the draw. I wanted to say that he used all the power of an associate district court judge in a small county to outrank me, but then we remembered that some people do not have a sense of humor. If you took all the power of all the associate district court judges and put it together you might could light a 40 watt light bulb but I wouldn’t count on it during a hurricane. So if I said it, some fool would be believe it.
You would think that after all these years, I would quit getting nasty emails complaining that I really shouldn’t call myself a beauty salon because I don’t offer beauty services. I think I told the last person who sent me an email about it to bring herstupidself over here and I’d punch her in the face and God Almighty that would be beautiful.
Did I ever tell you about the time I named some joint the Brazos River Yacht Club and Bait Camp and people really thought there was a yacht club on the Brazos River. Honey, the Brazos River is a glorified drainage ditch, but nooooooo … they didn’t get the joke.
We’re talking about plans here. I’m sorry. I just got lost here because … plans. We need plans.
In the spirit of the Brazos River Yacht Club and Bait Camp perhaps we could give Trump’s no plan vaccine distribution system a name. Something like The Trump Steak & Vodka Vaccine Strategy.
1Whether by miracle or accident that nearly 43 million shots snuck out past the tRump maladministration, imagine what a real President can do in 100 days of actually wanting to do something with an actual team of experts. Pencil me in on your Fourth of July dance card at the Brazos River Yacht Club and Bait Camp, Ms. JJ. Had this sudden wave of optimism wash over me sometime around 9am PST yesterday, we’re gonna be OK.

You’re right, it’s unlikely Trump will do any of those things. His modus operandi is, he barks, someone else jumps. I’m sure he’ll continue barking, but those who still jump are either competent but too small in number, or bungling idiots who believe 100% of success is just logging in at their echo chamber.

12Here in Gillespie County the hospital’s first batch of vaccines (300 doses) were offered for online sign up appointments and all were snapped up in 8 minutes. Their next batch of 1,000 went almost as fast. They were supposed to go to people who are over 65 or people who have underlying medical conditions but the sign up only asked for name, email address and phone number so there was no way to check on those qualifications.
On a conference call the representative from the hospital said they weren’t allowed to limit the vaccine doses to county residents either, but she said they were trusting people would “do the right thing” and not take the vaccine away from someone who needed it more. A local wag said “you mean like people did with toilet paper at the beginning of the pandemic?”

You say “nearly 43 million shots snuck out” — only problem is, you seem to be missing that troubling decimal point between the 4 and the 3. And that figure is what the “end of 2020” figure appears to be.
NBC news on the 20th, as Biden took over, said:
The Trump administration promised 20 million people would be vaccinated by the end of 2020; approximately 4 million were. By the end of his time in office, only about 15 million shots have been administered in all and less than 2 million people have been fully vaccinated.
It is hard to comprehend the vast incompetence of the Trump Sad!-ministration AND to find out something that needed to be concealed.
14john in denver, thank you for the correction. Basically the Biden/Harris administration is left starting at 0. Haven’t had a chance to read a transcript or listen to the Fauci interview today, if there’s a chance of maintaining my previous optimism.
