Close But No Cigar … No, Not Even Close

Conservatives never cease to amaze me. On the same day that President Biden calls for unity, they show the unique ability to completely misunderstand the moment and what unity actually means.

I have to give Miller this. He seems to lack all kinds of self-awareness. Most people in his shoes would slink back into the hole where they came from, but he has the unmitigated gall to try and stay relevant. Good for him I guess.
.
The attempts to discriminate, separate, and limit people’s rights is not unity. That’s quite the opposite. What’s more telling is that he seemed to really think they would just continue building the wall. Thus proving the conservative viewpoint: unity means doing what we want. Good luck with that fellas.”

The good news is this little creep will no longer have a President’s ear or write his speeches or influence his policies. His audience has withered and the majority of people will tune him out.
In case you’ve missed it, Jen Psaki is holding her second press briefing along with Dr. Fauci. Wow, what a difference in the level of truth and knowledge as compared to you know who’s administration. No propaganda or boasts from the great orange one, only facts and science. Refreshing.

  3. Jane & PKM says:

However it has been reported that Trump actually left President Biden a note that Biden characterized as “generous and gracious.” translation: it wasn’t a letter bomb.

Miller can be ruled out as the writer. Nope on Donnie writing, anything, ever. Maybe Messy plagiarized it from one of her unused etiquette books.

  4. Harry Eagar says:

If he’d had the chance, Lincoln would have said a nation cannot exist half-fascist and half-democratic. So while Biden may wish to be president for all Americans, people like Miller will be eligible only for attendance certificates.

  5. Elizabeth Moon says:

I seriously wish I could get away with lying as much as the GOP right. (Get away with includes my conscience saying “Sure, honey, go right ahead, it’ll make your hair thicken and turn brown again, your skin clear, your chin hairs vanish…just say “I’m beautiful again” and not only will you be beautiful, your past as a plain girl will turn into stunning beauty in all previous photographs…”)

It’s infuriating that people who SAY they want division to heal are the very ones starting up again with their lies and their accusations. HOW IS THAT SUPPOSED TO HEAL?

  6. RE: The Pocket Nazi Miller. How does one go about getting an arrest warrant from The Court at The Hague ? I think Joe would be gracious enough to hand him over without fuss.

  7. Here’s an effective measure of unity: ask yourself, am I doing what the fascist house pet of the previous administration thinks is the right thing?
    No?
    OK, I’m good.

  8. Stephen Miller has the eyes of a road kill rat. I heard he is one of the aides who moved to Florida to do whatever he does for him.

  9. john in denver says:

    Some of us wondered
how all Americans are served by closing travel from 9 countries and thinking that would limit terrorists, proposing to maintain 11 million people in our midst who could not become documented, or putting up security barriers along the Southwest border that could be beat by two guys, a pickup truck and a $100 Sawzall.

But I suppose there’s only one path to a better United States in the mind of Stephen Miller.

  10. Will Wheaten says:

I wonder, Mr. Carraway, if Stephen Miller is accurately described as a conservative. If he is conservative, AOC is Shirley Temple. Miller is better described as radical right, and should be called out as such. In my opinion.

  11. Dickinson the BVI says:

Miller is a major boot & golf cleat-licking toady & sycophant to Don the Con. Absolutely zero of his opinions belong on any social media conveyance. White supremacist jerk and major cause of the nation’s polarization.
    He belongs in Guantanamo.

This article is almost a year old, and it’s pretty long. But IMHO it’s well worth the time. stephen miller’s probably got stacks of job offers. And from an almost unimaginably repugnantcan point of view, of course he does.
Joe Biden won the election with the most votes in history. And the second most in history went to the Weaselheaded Fucknuggett. We can’t forget that. Good chance that if it weren’t for Covid-19, it would’ve been the other way around.
Blitzer posits that immigration was the biggest issue that got trump elected, and I agree. His story shows how much miller shaped that. Immigration is like the gateway drug of the racism spectrum in a way. Get folks scared of “the others” threatening the American Dream, and all the millers of the world have to do is keep supplying more others. BLM demonstrators are the biggest target. And the easiest for for the racists, since that prejudice has always been there for so many, even when they didn’t admit it to themselves. And does anybody believe the millers won’t use that? Same playbook, different target. And besides, just like miller pointed out in his first post White House tweet, Biden’s undoing some of the very things miller got trump elected on. Don’t get me wrong, I couldn’t be happier that we elected the President we’ve got.
But we lost seats in the House instead of gaining more. With the pandemic raging.
If stephen miller climbs anywhere, it’ll be into the repulsive arms of the highest bidder.
And he’s gonna make a fortune continuing to do his best to do what joseph goebbels did.
And so far millions of Americans will love him for it.
That’s the part we’ve got to change.

    13
  14. Miller, the White House Nazi, is the grandson of immigrants. His own uncle wrote a public denunciation of him and his mindset in the Washington Post. Apparently his family has had it with him. Which makes a lot of us!

    14
  15. Mr Miller, like Mr Trump, doesn`t give a dump .

    15
  16. The Surly Professor says:

Before I got all educated, I worked manual labor jobs in Texas: truck driving, bread delivery, plastic injection mold factory, etc. And I never had a car that cost more than $200. Which meant my car broke down a lot.

Anytime (day or night, weekday or holiday) it took no more than a few minutes before a couple of middle-aged Hispanic guys in a rusted-out pickup truck would stop and offer help. And I mean genuine help; once it was because my water pump broke. While one guy helped me get the old one off, the other drove to an auto parts store and got me a rebuilt one. (Of course I had to come up with the money for it; they did not have enough). Two hours of hard work and several miles of driving from a couple of guys on their way home from work.

And then we get jackasses like Trump claiming “they’re rapists and murderers”, and Miller happily using concentration camps and child kidnapping to try to keep Hispanics out of the U.S. P.P. @13 has it right, about the scare tactics the GOP uses. Right after Trump slid into the White House and ramped up the Border Patrol as his own Brown Shirts, we had several stories of local immigrants being arrested and held for deportation, while their Trump-supporting friends and relatives moaned “but he/she was one of the good ones”.

Miller will get some highly paid and noisy position at one of the right-wing “think tanks”. We’ve just got to keep hammering at that little Himmler, and drown him out whenever he sticks his head up out of the sewage pool.

    16
  17. Jane & PKM @3 mentioned the “generous and gracious” letter left by Trump. It was easy, he had them pull Obama’s letter from 4 years ago, took a sharpie to it to change the names and then signed it.

    17
  18. Nick Carraway says:

    @ Will Wheaton 310

I’d surmise that Miller’s methods are more extreme and he is much more vocal about his beliefs than most conservatives, but when you get down to it he is in line with where American conservatism is these days. If you take the tweet at face value without considering his sordid past, I’d surmise that his statement would be echoed by most conservatives. So, in this case he is very much in line.

Of course, the question of how one characterizes American conservatism is up to debate. I’ve long maintained that they are lurching very far to the right in comparison where they have been historically and I think we would get universal agreement here. Yet, ask most conservatives and they don’t feel that way. They feel the left is lurching much further left.

Both could be true which leads us to wonder whether unity is possible.
