So Here’s the Deal

January 12, 2021 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

A new truth: if I shoot somebody, you better not punish me because that’ll just make me mad enough to shoot somebody else.

Texas Republican Rep. Kevin Brady (R) put it this way: “Those calling for impeachment or invoking the 25th Amendment in response to President Trump’s rhetoric this week are themselves engaging in intemperate and inflammatory language and calling for action that is equally irresponsible and could well incite further violence.”

Okay, so Brady isn’t known for being smart, but up until now he wasn’t known for being a wife beater either. So now responsibility, rule of law, duty and accountability are intemperate and inflammatory language?

Lindsey Graham said, “If Speaker Pelosi pushes impeachment in the last days of the Trump presidency it will do more harm than good.”  He’s obviously not weighing harm and good on the scales of justice.  And it vaguely sounds to me like Lindsey is threatening.

And Trump, who refuses to shut the hell up, had this to say …

“This impeachment is causing tremendous anger,” he said. “I think it’s causing tremendous danger to this country. … I want no violence.”

So if there’s violence, it’s our fault.

It must get mighty tiresome and weighty for Republicans to carry around that load of caca del toro everywhere they go.

Thanks to Epp for the heads up.

  1. “You made me do this!” The excuse of small children and barefaced liars everywhere.

Lindsey is flying with Donnie on Air Force One today to view a section of the infamous wall. Graham consented to be initiated into Trump’s Rear End Mile High Club to atone for his disloyalty on the Senate floor last week.

I’m thinking, ok, no impeachment, let’s just indict Trumpf on conspiracy to commit sedition, treason and throw his ass in prison. Include Giuliani, Jr., Flynn and others that encouraged the insurrection that killed a capital policeman. Also, indict, convict all that were part of that conspiracy and/or were in the group that beat officer Sicknick for murder. The others that were found to have entered the capital should be convicted of attempted sedition and sent to jail. Elected officials involved should be tried for treason. Any active military that took part should be courtmartialed for for treason and sent to prison. These people that were involved should be glad we’re not the 3rd world country they tried to make us or in Putin’s Russia because, well, they’d be put to death already.

This is a corollary of “blame the victim.” His majesty lost by 3mil in 2016 but finagled enough of the EC to get in. He and his now indentured servants, aka GOP, thought the EC would save them again, but the bulk of Americans want him gone and are starting to feel his servants need to go. I hope someone in the Texas Dem. Party is planning a VIABLE candidate to oppose all of them in 2022!

    From Miriam Webster’s Dictionary

    . af·flu·en·za | \ ˌa-(ˌ)flü-ˈen-zə \
    Definition of affluenza
: the unhealthy and unwelcome psychological and social effects of affluence regarded especially as a widespread societal problem: such as
a: feelings of guilt, lack of motivation, and social isolation experienced by wealthy people
Even so, psychologists are slowly recognizing that great riches are sometimes accompanied by a wealth of crippling emotional and psychological fears. Affluenza can be acute, striking lottery winners or newly minted doctors and M.B.A.s. It can also be a chronic and pervasive condition in families where riches extend through generations.
    — Anastasia Toufexis et al.
b: extreme materialism and consumerism associated with the pursuit of wealth and success and resulting in a life of chronic dissatisfaction, debt, overwork, stress, and impaired relationships
Affluenza is particularly rampant in the United States, where we place a high priority on financial success and material possessions.
    — David Hawkins /blockquote>

Perhaps we need to set up a charity for these unfortunate souls, forever driven by their wealth and privilege to commit various crimes with no expectation of consequences…

  6. Harry Eagar says:

Steve, the nifty thing about conspiracy law (although liberals have generally regarded it as a bug not a feature) is that all conspirators are legally culpable for all crimes committed by co-conspirators.

So if beating Officer Sicknick is second-degree murder (or possibly first-degree since police officers get some upgrades), then trump could be convicted of murder.

So you might want to soft-pedal any complaints about the rush to complete federal executions.

  7. Jane & PKM says:

Wow. Most Republicons cannot complete a linear thought, but they’ve certainly exceeded all previous mental gymnastics with that leap of logic.

While some of us might be delighted if the racists crawled back under their rocks, that will not happen. Donnie has freed the freedumb, and the violence is out in the open. No one wants anyone to be hurt, but the simple fact is the gun nuts are already incited. Letting them “off the hook” will only further encourage them. However holding Donnie accountable is necessary, and if it “smokes out” his supporters to where they can be prosecuted that would be a win-win in a bad situation.

  8. Trump has it in his power to put out the fuse he lit.

    Trump said:
“This impeachment is causing tremendous anger. I think it’s causing tremendous danger to this country. … I want no violence.”

    What if instead he said:
The election is over. If you would like to peacefully protest next week, I urge you to do so with signs, but I want no weapons of any kind, no combat gear, and absolutely no violence or damage to property, public or private.

Oh, and by the way, let’s not repeat the tragedy that occurred last Wednesday when a “Don’t Tread On Me” flag carrying supporter was trampled and killed by my other supporters.*

  9. I wonder if, when they were children, douchebags like Brady, Graham, and Jim Jordan, hoped they’d grow up to take the lead in the biggest protection racket in American history.
    Against the American people.

    9
  10. I prefer an Urban Dictionary definition of affluenza:
    affluenza
A legal defense by rich kids and or adults who are guilty of a crime for which they committed and freely admit. The defence is that the offspring of wealthy, privileged parents who never set limits on their childrens behavior, are exempt from regular laws because natural law allows for special privilege and greater understanding for the rich and powerful in general. This argument comes from a branch of philosophy called circular logic. If the defense works it also means that instead of applying legal limits on rich people’s behavior it legally exempts them and only them. This strengthens the defense in further legal problems should they occur again.

  11. Inkdreamer says:

Yeah, they’re setting the stage to blame Democrats for the violence that they know is still to come.

    11
  12. JJ, you write that Kevin isn’t known for being smart. I can tell you, as someone who lives in his district, that he’s very smart about and that’s hiding. If he’s seen in public at all, it’s at carefully arranged meetings with supporters. Want to go hear him at a town hall? Forget it. He’s not had a strong competitor in an election in so long, he hasn’t had to campaign at all. Probably the biggest expense for last November’s campaign was signs along highways. No public appearances. No opportunities EVER to question him about his sparkling record of helping rich people get richer. And nobody ever questions his loyalty to trump. He wasn’t even in the Capitol for the insurrection having quarantined himself following a positive covid test. So yeah, he’s got a big dog in this fight.

  14. I seem to be dispensing a lot of parenting advice this week.
When you make a mistake, deliberately or accidentally you first need to admit the mistake that caused harm, repair the damage your actions caused, and then apologize for your actions, then you can move on. Since Republicans haven’t seen fit to do any of this…..

If you prefer a Christian perspective, repentance proceeds forgiveness.

Also when Dick Cheney calls his daughter and says impeach the SOB in the Oval (who is a REPUBLICAN), you know we are in some serious caca del toro!

    14
  15. Elizabeth Moon says:

Deb: Agree with everything but the last paragraph, because when Cheney calls for impeachment of the Republican prez SOB, it’s that president who’s in some serious caca del toro. We already were (the caca del toro he and his conspirators blew out) and we knew it.

As we crawl out of the mess and start to shower off and feel better, we need to look out for the surviving Elephants who, like Cheney, hate Democrats and are quite ready to blame us for this s**tstorm and claim credit for being heroes. Note how the press leaped to give Liz Cheney a relatively flattering picture and cheer her on. They’ll talk a lot about their own honor and character and courage and still trash AOC and any other Black or Hispanic Dems, and rant on about “radical left” and socialism. (Will probably lay off “her emails” and Benghazi for awhile, but not forever.)
