The Republican Party of Texas has hired a political consultant to form their plan for keeping Texas red.
It’s Karl Rove.
I didn’t even know he was still alive. I thought he died of a bad case of mean as hell.

Whatever color Texas is, everybody’s running like it’s purple
– President Donald Trump has been to Texas seven times this year.
– Michael Bloomberg will be on the Texas Democratic primary ballot for president.
– Former San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro isn’t (politically) dead, though his shot at winning the Democratic presidential nomination is all but gone.
– And Republican powers in Austin are assembling a political action committee to try to protect their majority in the Texas House.
All roads lead to this: Texas might not be blue — or even purple — but it will be competitive electoral ground in 2020.
You might not believe it, but it’s clear that the Democrats are ambitiously plotting to win seats in the congressional delegation and the Texas House in particular. And that the Republicans are planning defenses and recruiting voters in anticipation of a vigorous Democratic campaign.
National political money might get spent in Texas. That’s just weird. Texas is an ATM state — a place where political campaigns and candidates come to get the money they want to spend in exotic places like Iowa and South Carolina.

6Well, I read that a filmmaker wants to make a new movie starring James Dean, who’s been dead for 50 years. So I suppose they could prop up Karl Rove in a corner somewhere and call him a political consultant. Give him a title – The Ghost of Campaign’s Past.
Loved the story of Fiona Hill’s hair being set on fire, by a classmate, while taking a test. She calmly extinguished it and continued to finish the test. Then she recounted that her mother gave her a bowl cut and she said she ended up looking like Richard the Third. This woman is amazing!

Stefanik’s opponent raised $1 million dollars and gained 200k+ Twitter followers in three days (and that’s not even accounting for the photo of Stefanik palling around with far-right racist). There have to be a lot of Democratic challengers really looking forward to this week.

Rojas replied that he wants to ensure immigrants living in the United States don’t have to live in fear of deportation and separation from their families.
“You have the power, as a candidate, to actually commit to stop all deportations from day one—and we want to hear you say that,” Rojas said.

The attorney, Joseph A. Bondy, represents Lev Parnas, the recently indicted Soviet-born American who worked with Giuliani to push claims of Democratic corruption in Ukraine. Bondy said that Parnas was told directly by the former Ukrainian official that he met last year in Vienna with Rep. Devin Nunes.
“Mr. Parnas learned from former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Victor Shokin that Nunes had met with Shokin in Vienna last December,” said Bondy.

Bondy tells CNN that his client and Nunes began communicating around the time of the Vienna trip. Parnas says he worked to put Nunes in touch with Ukrainians who could help Nunes dig up dirt on Biden and Democrats in Ukraine, according to Bondy.
That information would likely be of great interest to House Democrats given its overlap with the current impeachment inquiry into President Trump, and could put Nunes in a difficult spot.”

He wants to negotiate some kind of limited immunity deal for testifying before the impeachment committee. Remember the disinformation voluntarily spewed by Roger Stone before Congress, and the useless “cooperation” provided by Paul Manafort to Mueller. The film-noir tie-in to Nunes is intriguing, but should be dealt with by the House Ethics Committee. Likewise, leave the Brighton Beach superPAC to SDNY.
