Maybe Not So Beautiful
It’s out. It sucks.
The newly released transcript of President Donald Trump’s conversation with Ukraine’s president shows that the president repeatedly pushed the Ukrainian government to investigate potential 2020 rival Joe Biden.
During his conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the president brought up how much aid the United States delivers to his country and then started pressing him to work with personal attorney Rudy Giuliani and with Attorney General Bill Barr to look into allegations against Biden.
Bingo. Yahtzee. Mother may I.
That right there is Treason with a capital I Need To Go To Jail.
Okay, what we need right now is for the four living ex-presidents to stand together and say he needs to go. And take Rudy Guiliani and Bill Barr with him.
Update: Bill Barr went running to The Hill, saying, “What? Me worry?”
“The President has not asked the Attorney General to contact Ukraine – on this or any other matter. The Attorney General has not communicated with Ukraine – on this or any other subject. Nor has the Attorney General discussed this matter, or anything relating to Ukraine, with Rudy Giuliani,” Department of Justice Spokesperson Kerri Kupec said.
Yeah, right.
Long past time for him to go! The transcript turned my stomach in knots with the praise Zelensky gave him. If he, Zelensky, follows in the Cheetorat’s footsteps, Ukraine is in deep doo-doo
1Bill Barr has a lot of ‘splainin to do. He, like everybody else, in this maladministration has been permanently tainted and it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving bunch of people.
2More like Carry Cupkakes for the fatman than a spox for the Secretariat.
3@Bernard I suspect Zelensky is really and truly caught between a rock (Spankee) and a hard place (Pootie). He understands that the only thing that Spankee responds to (and now more than ever) is sycophantic ass-kissing. He’ll probably do whatever he can to keep the military $$ flowing into Ukraine — if he pisses off Spankee, he and his country may lose everything.
I don’t envy him.
4Redaction Jackson:
According to the Times, the White House is “putting the complaint through a declassification process” and plans to release a redacted document to Congress “within days.”
“Fuck that,” responded one anonymous Trump critic on Twitter. “Not only do we need an unredacted report. We need testimony of the whistleblower.”
The whistleblower complaint reportedly involves multiple instances of possible misconduct by Trump, including his alleged effort to pressure Ukraine’s leader to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden.
In an interview on CNN Wednesday, Sen. Chris Murphy said the whistleblower complaint “needs to be unredacted.”
“I don’t want the administration deciding what parts of that whistleblower complaint get to us and what don’t,” said Murphy.

5By noting that nobody had contacted the DOJ about possible corruption, Bill Barr just threw Trump under the bus. If there was even a scintilla of evidence of wrongdoing, Bill Barr would be loudly naming Biden as a “subject” of an investigation. Instead, Barr is leaving it to Trump’s re-election campaign?
Sounds like Trump has finally jumped the shark. Look for more Republican rats (but I repeat myself) to start swimming away from Trump’s ship.
6@Lizziemom – you are correct in that assumption, but there are limits to the gut-churning gibberish you have to throw at him. Zelensky went overboard, but then, as you say, he needs this assjack right now so I hope it is only for that reason he said what he said.
7The transcript actually told the truth. Wonders, meet never cease.
Still, I’ll bet I know why. Trump is, once again, embracing the tenet, “If you do it right out in front of people, it’s not a crime.”
Um, no, Trump. When you commit a crime right out in front of people, it’s still a crime. You just made sure there were witnesses.
8“possible misconduct by Trump” —-do the words possible and misconduct even go together in reference to Orange Foolius?
9RepubAnon @ 6,
As this grows more and longer legs, more people are going to be implicated as conspirators with Trump. More impeachments, more convictions, more resignations and prison time. Good.
10This isn’t a full transcript, it’s a memo. The memo states it may not contain all the details of the call. This is another attempt to appear to be complying with Congress when in reality continuing to obstruct.
This changes nothing – Impeach the SOBs
11Sam in Superior: I agree. It’s a “summary”, not a “transcript”. The document has a footnote that it is not “a verbatim transcript” – which means, it’s been doctored. And if what they have released is this bad, you gotta wonder what was covered up.
Barr’s spokes-critter’s statement certainly sounds like the skittering noise cockroaches make when you turn on the light in the kitchen in the middle of the night. Instead of Barr’s usual “yeah, sure, so what?” response, he’s scrambling to get as far from Ukraine, Gulliani, and Trump’s claims as he can get.
12Are they really dumb enough to think nobody will notice the “transcript” has been doctored? I decline to believe that Volodymyr Zelensky talks just like Donald Trump.
13I want to know if Rudy is licensed to practice law ind DC/Virginia? I’m a CPA and getting a reciprocal license is no small feat. I would love to see a bar association investigate!
14You don’t really expect the twit of illegal “signing statements” that he would ignore what he just signed and endless war against “gog and magog” ( see reports of phone call with French PM) to discover a shred of sanity and discovers the idea of honor, honesty and ethics to complain about demented donnie continueing his work of destroying the country and the world.
15Straight line from tricky dicks plumbers, addled ronnies illegal arms deals, poppa’s ongoing perjury and use of pardon power to stay out of jail ( sound famaliar?) the twits signing statements wit cheney’s discovery that the VP is a 4th branch of government immune to laws and now the doddering don.
Plus who cares if the twit say something he is an historical non person in thuglican circles and a war criminal among the sane.
Before politics Zelensky was a comedian. I hope that explains why he turned it up to eleven while gesturing to his staff — “Listen to this, you won’t believe it.”
BTW, latest polls have Liz Warren ahead of Biden. Wouldn’t it be great if ol’ Don got hisself impeached over nothing? If Warren wins the nomination, nobody will care if Hunter Biden shot a man in the middle of Fifth Avenue.
