House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is planning to put a resolution on the House floor Wednesday to address the Ukraine scandal, amid growing calls to start the impeachment process against President Donald Trump, according to sources.
“The guy who says he is calling around the globe to “root out corruption” had a campaign manager who is a felon, a deputy campaign manager who is a felon, a National Security Adviser who is a felon, a foreign policy advisor who is a felon, a personal lawyer who is a felon. My POS TX US Rep. Henry Cuellar [D, TX-28] is the ONE out of thirteen Democratic Reps who is not now advocating an impeachment inquiry of SOBOTUS.
Some of these TX Democrats are in shaky swing districts and are taking a chance [read the link].
Cuellar’s fajita District is pretty solidly blue, D+9, ~85%+ Hispanic, and still Cuellar stalls, shucks and jives. Not that TX Hispanics aren’t a lot more likely to vote for a Rethug than y’all think; yes, sad state of affairs.
Cuellar has a progressive AOC endorsed primary opponent, Jessica Cisneros, but his Laredo machine has chewed up all his opponents before [primary & general].
It’s just the way our border area is, many of the Hispanic pols are more conservative than y’all think, going way back. But they get away with it, as wealthier, educated ones in poor districts, and as “cauldillo” figures in ‘the culture’.
Would like to see a change, but I’ve been waiting many decades. Many of you might remember TX Rep/Sen Lloyd Bentsen, even fondly. Not me, he was a ‘bluedog Dem’ before there were any.

Are we sure this Ukraine stunt is what triggered the whistleblower? If Ukraine turns out to be a separate, more benign stunt, Dems may end up looking like the birthers did after Obama finally released his birth certificate- slamming our hats down in the dirt, kicking rocks, and meandering around in the streets.

@ John 2: Even if the blowing of the whistle turns out to be about some other egregious undertaking of this **ahem** president, the Ukraine mess is germane. Look at his timing —- the DAY AFTER Mueller’s testimony he makes the call? Seriously? “Hey! I got away with it! I can do anything I want now!”

The issue with political machines is they work until they don’t.
4The only way to gauge the strength of a political machine is to test it with outside challenges.
Just as the Pendergast machine in KC, Daley’s operation in Chicago ( first one) and Tammany they all seemed impregnable until a challenge discovered they weren’t.
Sometimes it is a blizzard/ snowstorm that delivers the nail to the operation or the chutzpah of nominating a child molester ( who would have believed that we would see a D Senator from Alabama -Doug Jones) or other unforeseen events that sweep away the old certainties.
This is why I supported Howard Deans 50 state strategy. If something dramatic occurs one must be in position to take advantage of it. If an alternative candidate is not on the ballot it is almost impossible to take advantage of a candidates self destruction or other events that alter the political landscape.
Who know this might be the “Last Hurrah” ( Great Book, excellent movie) of cuellar if impeachment gathers steam.
