Guilty on 23 Felonies
Former two term East Texas Republican congressman Steve Stockman just received some pretty bad news.
A federal jury in Houston found him guilty of 23 felonies.
Steve Stockman, a Republican former congressman from Texas, has been convicted of defrauding two conservative mega-donors and funneling their $1.25 million into personal and campaign expenses as part of what prosecutors have described as a “white collar crime spree.”
Stockman is a far rightwing nut case. I wrote about him pretty damn often, as you can see here. I also had some fun when the fire marshall shut down Stockman’s campaign headquarters as “unsafe for human habitation.”
I’m sorry y’all aren’t getting this hot off the presses, but I had to sober up first.
They marched his prissy butt off to the pokey while he awaits sentencing in August. They decided he’s a flight risk.
Okay, back to celebrating!
One down—-So many yet to go.No end in site.

2JJ, pardon my crumbling old brain, but I do recall you telling us about some congress critter who was trying to make a comeback. He rented a condemned building for his campaign headquarters. Was that Stockman?
3“white collar crime spree.”
I claim movie rights for ‘Swamps Eleven.’
Plot: Eleven Republican congressmen team up for one last big score, just in case they heard it right.
Tagline: I hear talk they’re finally drainin’ the swamp boys. Let’s go fishin’!
4Do you think that the same prosecutorial team that did in Mr. Stockman could have a little looksee at good ol’ Blake Farenthold (Corpus’ former Rep, TX-27 [R-Swampbottom])?
(I once bought a house with a large, ~48K/gallon swim pool that had been sorely neglected. That 10 foot deep pool was home to more kinds of, and just plain ‘more’ swamp critters, than I ever thought existed. Buckets of frogs, big and small (we took them to the nearest irrigation canal), uncounted legions of very weird creatures, plants(?) and bugs. It took me a couple of months to restore that pool for family use. And Washington DC is even worse than that.)
5Is defrauding conservative mega-donors really a crime? Sounds like a good idea to me. But I’m sure Stockman’s butt deserves to be hauled off to the clink anyway.
6Recently there was an article discussing Stockman’s trial. It reported that Stockman used campaign funds improperly, took cruises, etc. It also stated that he filed bankruptcy due to the fact he had used large amounts of money to pay for his father’s Alzheimer care. Stockman is the same ilk who (did he?) vote against health care bills and to de-fund disability benefits and Medi-care. His karma and a great jury put him behind bars.
7Maggie, that was indeed Stockman who rented the condemned building for his comeback HQ.
8You can screw over the poor and middle-class, but once you screw over the rich – your goose is cooked. Remember Bernie Madoff? If he had only screwed over the regular people, like Trump University, he would only have gotten a fine, if that.
9Ah, yes, I remember “hot tub” Steve well. The picture of his campaign headquarters showed an old warehouse with dozens of abandoned hot tubs stashed in the yard. At least now he’ll get 4 squares and a shower. Sorry Steve, no hot tubs in prison.

Bwahahahahahahaha!!!!! I love it when an a$$hole gets what he deserves. Speaking of a$$holes, here’s hoping he gets plenty of chances to Pucker Up, in the near future.
12And that’s only the ones they could prove – I expect there’s lots more…
