And You Thought This Would Never Happen

June 13, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Donald Trump is implying that President Obama is complicit in the Orlanda massacre.

“We’re being led by a man who either is not tough, not smart or has something else in mind.”

Using the Fox invention of, “Some people say ….” when literally no one is saying that, Trump leads people to the logical conclusion that Obama probably bought this guy a gun and gave him directions to the nightclub.  Trump explains his first statement.

“And the something else in mind — you know, people can’t believe it. People cannot, they cannot believe that President Obama is acting the way he acts and can’t even mention the words ‘radical Islamic terrorism.’ There’s something going on. It’s inconceivable. There’s something going on.”

You mean there’s something going on besides Trump being the worst hate monger since … I dunno, Ted Cruz?  It’s hard to have a benchmark lately because the GOP is producing them faster than we can take names and kick their butts.

I have something to ask Donald Trump.  Have you seen this guy?

636013522916481996-Howell.bmpAn Indiana man armed with assault rifles and explosive chemicals was arrested on his way to a gay pride event in Los Angeles, police said Sunday.

James Wesley Howell, 20, was arrested when Santa Monica police discovered three assault rifles, high capacity magazines and ammunition in his car, according to a news release from the Santa Monica Police Department. Investigators also recovered a five-gallon bucket “with chemicals capable of forming an improvised explosive device,” police said.

I think we need to build a wall around Indiana.  Right, Trump?

  1. Hey, he’s a white guy. Doesn’t count. We only get worked up about the brown people.

  3. A followup question for Donald Trump:

Does that same logic apply to Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the Twin Towers?

  4. Elizabeth Moon says:

Oh, I think we need to start rumors that Trump enabled the Indiana man…how many degrees of separation are there?

As for his smearing of Obama…of course he smears Obama. It’s a reflex, like kicking your doctor when he hammers your knee (I chose the pronoun intentionally, not out of habit. My mother once kicked a doctor when he didn’t believe her that her spinal anesthetic was wearing off during surgery. He’d been telling her of course not, and she was imagining things. But after a kick in a tender area…not so much.)

If you say “radical Islam” then, logically, you must also say “radical Christian”. Just who is conspiring with them?
We call for Trump to resign as a presidential candidate for allowing the religious right to kill gays and other minorities.
Makes bout as much sense as demanding that the President resign. But in bizarro Drumpf World sense is hard to come by.

  6. David Corn is reporting that Trump is capitalizing on Orlando with a fundraising letter, “Make America Safe Again”. I want to emphasize that I have not seen the letter but Corn is a solid journalist so I’m giving this credence.

I’m thinking of advocating that everyone stop giving these killers / terrorists what they want – attention. To that end I’m not going to mention their names nor will I share their pictures. The Amish have this thing called shunning, I’m inclined to agree with them, BF Skinner says one way to extinguish attention seeking bad behavior is to not reward it.

Am I off base on this?

  11. W. C. (Pete) Peterson says:

Drumpf is the “Boy Who Never Grew Up”, as cconstantly shown by his behavior and rhetoric. I always thought the Boy Who Never Grew Up was Peter Pan, but Peter Pan displayed many many adult behaviors. Not at all like Donald Drumpf.

JJ you have interesting intelligent commentators. Trump “I I Me Me” first person singular is tiresome. Not once did he mention the Republican Congress – the money allocaters. I’m sure the rank and file shallow thinkers are satisfied – until the next time.

  15. Applying again the question I quoted yesterday in a different context, no, he has left no sense of decency, and he never did. He’s a scumbag, and I’m definitely going to do my best to shun the glassbowl and avoid mentioning his name.

“Some people say” Trump is the solution for all the ills of our country. We KNOW there’s no way in the world that could possibly be true.

I wish I had something clever to say about this disgusting excuse for a human being but words fail me a little just now.

  20. maryelle says:

This was the terrorist attack the Republicans wished for, to show that Drumpf was strong on terrorism, but it has turned into a conspiracy nightmare. Drumpf can’t stay on point and has to indulge his inner nutjob. If anything, he has shown how calm and intelligence( displayed by President Obama and Secretary Clinton) are needed at a time of national crisis. It is looking more like one crazy’s hatred of gays than Muslim jihad. Instead of railing against Muslims, we need to rail against assault rifles, republican obstruction and the NRA.

  23. Hey, let me out of IN before you circle the state…..I would be willing to give up many things if the right wingnuts would all move here, cut communication, build those yuuuge walls and let them all play with each other and leave the rest of us alone!

    24
  24. maryelle was right when she said, “We call for Trump to resign as a presidential candidate for allowing the religious right to kill gays and other minorities.” We should indeed be doing that.

In contrast, Hillary’s campaign sent an email today saying, among other very kind things, “There are millions of us, and we have your backs.” I cried when I read that.

As a lesbian, I get so tired of this, it’s so wearing. I’ve cried more since this attack than I have in several days. The support I’ve received has been so heartening and encouraging. Friends worrying about me, a certain resident of TWMDBS threatening to beat up any haters.

I’ve enjoyed the backlash against the vermin Scumpf. It looks like he’s costing himself support except among the most rabid of his rabid followers. I think there are more snacilbupeR centrists who are leaning toward not voting at all. Very good for them.

    25
  25. Those looking to get out may want to speed the timeline up. My parents are cruising in Europe and ran into some Canadians. The Canadians said they are planning to build their own wall. They said they don’t want anyone dumb enough to vote for him coming into their country.

    26
  26. Scott, if I go to Canada for any reason, I will take my voters card (not required at the Maryland polls) to prove at least that I’m a registered Democrat. If required to spit on a photo of the glassbowl, I will do so with enthusiasm.

  28. Re Trump’s comments, Paul Ryan said that this “is not what this party stands for, and, more importantly, it’s not what this country stands for.”

But Ryan is supporting Trump, so it is exactly what Paul Ryan’s party stands for.

  29. Old Fart says:

If you haven’t seen the video of our President discussing the frustration of having domestic persons-of-interest on a no-fly-list, but being unable to deny them the ability to buy whatever firearm and as much ammo as they wish due to the actions of the NRA, less than 2 weeks ago on June 1:

    http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2016/06/12/3787581/obama-haunting-confrontation-pro-gun-activist-just-days-orlando-massacre/

This wasn’t a terrorist act carried out by one person. It required the full weight of the NRA to happen.

    30
  30. Yeah, “some people say” sounds a lot like “well that’s what I HEARD”. (think Bill Murray). I call this the 17 year old bully tactic. To think that this approach has become what counts as our current political discourse is repugnant. I mean seriously, remember 87 when Broadcast News came out and we all were scandalized? Now it’s a joke. The echo chamber is their business model. (Fox news and especially right wing talk radio)

Now excuse me while I go sandpaper out my eye orbits.

  32. If I go into Canada, they can see the Obama and Sanders bumper stickers on my car. That should do it.

I am in Ireland traveling around right now, and let me tell you, everyone I have met from all parts of the world are horrified by this disgusting man.

    33
  33. Well, hellspitanddamn! Trump has an e-mail situation of his own! He deleted emails involving one of his lawsuits. This is just now hitting the main stream media. Can anyone say Karma?

    34
  34. Trump is one worried dude. He obviously felt as if he was on top of it all during the primaries but now that there is a gap until the general election campaign he is doing his best to manufacture, as usual, all the attention he can get lest his devotees lapse into a thinking mode and fall away from him. God knows he has every right to be afraid, very afraid. The Trump U. lawsuit is turning into a RICO trial. It starts the same day as the R convention in Cleveland. As the defendant, he has to be in court for at least the first day. Bummer! He will do anything to avoid that. But damn! If he is a no-show he could be subpoenaed. Disobeying a subpoena can lead to a contempt of court charge. Still more resistance? Bench warrant! Cops and handcuffs! More resistance? Jail! And no, that will not delay the lawsuit. Trump will be “convenient” to the courtroom. Or, he could just bag it all and flee the country, claiming that the nasty unfair judge is out to get him and he is not safe in the US of A. Convention goes ahead with a nominating process just like the one in 1912 that nominated Woodrow Wilson after umpteen votes. As a fugitive, his assets could be frozen! Wow! An impoverished Trump! Just like all his investors! Karma wins!

    35
  35. Marcia in CO says:

    @Sam at 28 … ooooh, yuck!!

@Maggie at 32 … OMG … let’s hope that Drumpf follows the guideline you put there!! Karma biting Drumpf’s fat white ass while he is sitting in jail … Oh My … it would be a wonderful thing to see happen!!

  40. two crows says:

OK. So Trump is jumping all over Obama and Hillary because they don’t use the “right rhetoric.” Their actions don’t speak loudly enough apparently.

Meanwhile, all the Republicans in Congress are using is rhetoric [“Our thoughts and prayers”] and moments of silence to end violence.

No, Republicans. Rhetoric doesn’t fix problems. Action can fix problems. But if you admitted that, you would have to take on the NRA and you’re too damn cowardly to do something like that.

So, thoughts and prayers and railing about Obama not using the right words are all we’re going to get.

IOW, rhetoric. It’s what’s for dinner.

    41
