New Day, New Sid

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is doubling down, dammit, and screw you!

After his Facebook post suggesting that we use nuclear weapons against the entire Muslim world, Miller says that he took the post down but he is not gonna apologize for it.

Killer Miller

Todd Smith, a political consultant for Miller, said he didn’t know why the post was taken down but said critics outraged over the content should instead be demanding apologies from Islamic terrorists, Iranian leaders and President Barack Obama for their words and actions.

“We think those are all issues that deserve an apology and are much more serious than a thought-provoking Facebook post,” Smith said.

Miller, a professional rodeo calf-roper and former state lawmaker, is currently in China for what his office described as a trade mission.

Thanks, Obama.  I knew it was your fault.  You made Sid do this.

I do not know where to start.

First off, Sid Miller thinks this is a “thought provoking” Facebook post.

“Nuke ’em” is not a thought-provoking idea any more than “kiss my butt” is a romantic overture.

Second off, he’s in China?  On a trade mission?  What’s the tarnation is that?  We sent our best and brightest statewide elected official from Texas?  He’s gonna give a whole new meaning to bull in a China closet.

Third off, oh dear God, why do I live in Texas?

Be social and share!

The inmates are running the asylum. I suspect this won’t be the last time that thought occurs to me.

Why do I live in Texas? Keeps me angry and amused.

  3. He does realize, doesn’t he, that nuclear fallout does not automatically stay within the borders of a bombed country?

And that we would lose a good portion of our allies if we committed this atrocity?

He is one more of those “American Exceptionalism” guys who thinks the rest of the world doesn’t count for anything.

We’re #1 in stupid political ideas.

    3
  4. Well, it does provoke at least one thought: WTF?

Does he wear that hat so nobody can see what isn’t under it? (I don’t mean hair.)

  5. any more than “kiss my butt” is a romantic overture.
    hilarious!!

  6. Why do I live in Texas?

I ask myself that every morning when I wake up. And I am planning for the day when I can make my escape. What a wretched place this is.

Kiss my arse and make it a love story is more romantic. Just saying.(snark) That is a retort from women who don’t do short stories or fairy tales.

  8. Leaving Texas permanently is something I greatly look forward to.. I’m tired of willfully ignorant extremists, their “god” and the harm they do to our state and nation.

Mark J-move to iowa, It’s gotta be cheaper than Texas and it rains pretty regularly( over five inches since yesterday). My tomatoes are bigger than the state of Texas and potatoes are nearly as large. Propane for winter heat is 79 cents a gallon right now. Most people are friendly and there is nearly a 100% chance you won’t get shot, shot at or even killed accidentlt, except during shotgun deer season and that is only for about 2 weeks in Dec. Best of all-no armadamndilloes unless you stumble across one in SW iowa and our deer are bigger than yours if you hunt. Check the record books.

    9
  10. e platypus onion, how is Iowa with the gay people?

    10
  11. e platypus onion, I live in East Texas (Louie Gohmert land) and we get plenty of rain. Average about 50 inches a year but this year is exceptional as the homestead here has already had almost 54 inches so far and the rainy fall season is yet to come.

Which is why the oil companies passed the Texas Water Conservation law in the last election which allows them to take all the water from East Texas and ship it to dry West Texas so they can pump it into the fractured ground to get more oil and gas. I anticipate that our bayous will soon be dry.

    11
  12. I REPEAT, please China keep Sid as one of your own!

    12
  13. dude is batcrap.

  14. e platypus onion says:

iowa was the first state,I believe,to legalize gay marriage in April of 09. You have Gohmerto,I have Cantaloupe Calves King so that is a wash. iowa’s legislature has wingnuts in the guv seat and congress,Dems control the Senate, There is no fracking that I am aware of and most of the water is polluted by big Ag.

If you get lonesome for Texas, beware that the UofI’s offensive coordinatore for football is former Longhorn OC Greg Davis and most Hawkeye fans aren’t real fond of him or our head coach, ftm. 🙂

    14
  15. e platypus onion:

You are right about Iowa being ahead of the curve on marriage equality. So I might need to rethink my plans. Ames. Des Moines. Dubuque. Cedar Rapids. Iowa City.

    Hmmmmmmm.

I have no particular fond affiliation for Texas. All of my family is from here, but I was a military brat and we moved constantly. I went to 17 different schools to graduate high school (and no, wasn’t held back or anything, we just moved and moved and moved).

I am serious about looking at places to move. I am in my early 50s and luckily retired, so my options are rather open.

And I have to say that I am an old-fashioned queer and don’t care much for sports, so that isn’t of much interest to me. And in fact, that is part of the problem I have with this small East Texas town where I live now because everything revolves around football. Everything.

    Okay, football and Jesus.

    15
  16. are from here. are from here. damn.

  17. e platypus onion says:

Been to iowa City. Beautiful town with the iowa river running through the middle. Lovely wooded valleys, theaters, bookstores, walkways etc. I went there quite frequently for medical treatments at the U of I Hospital and clinics. The other big towns I have not had much to do with. I travelled through Cedar Rapids on the way to iowa City. Never been to the others and I have lived in iowa my entire life(62 years). Of you can learn to put up with some subzero cold, you might like iowa. i live in the nw corner(Obrien Co). Southern iowa farmers get a three week or more headstart on northern farmers because s iowa isn’t usually as cold as long as up North.

    17
  18. Mark J, you wouldn’t say “all of the cake are gone,” so you don’t need to say “all of my family are from here.”

Unless maybe you’re from deep east Texas and the Gohmert is contagious there. Which seems possible–get out quick!

But I promise not to cast asparagus on your language use…

    18
  19. Damn you, djw, all of the cake is gone. Seriously. I went to the kitchen and the last piece of cake was gone. Mother.

I am living in deep East Texas and I hope that Gohmert isn’t contagious. I don’t mean to be flippant but I am looking for a place to move soon. I am here in Lufkin because I am the caretaker for my grandmother and both of my parents.

I am so sorry that I have hijacked this thread with a discussion of where I should live. Happy to have any serious suggestions at majlufkin@gmail.com

  20. I was thinking that mushroom cloud looked familiar. Must have been some Sh’riah afoot in West Texas that needed pacifying.

  21. RepubAnon says:

Sending Sid to China probably made them think twice about buying agricultural products from Texas. “Do you suppose the Texans use what Sid Miller spouts regularly to fertilize their crops? Sure, it’s bovine-derived organic fertilizer… but who’d want to risk eating Sid Miller-tainted food?”

    21
  22. grannygrey says:

I can guaran’damn’tee, you do NOT want to come to FL; we are awash in about the same thing. It looks like we might wind up back in TX (DH IS a native Texan but does hate to admit it a lot of times)…and I came from the Midwest. Indiana has really come ‘unwound’ lately and they have embarrassed me. I will admit some of the Texas ‘guvmint ufishuls’ there have really blown my mind lately..actually I think blown it up. Y’all have been over here corrupting our governator, Baldo, and his Cabinet too, with Big Sugar. They like to sneak off at our expense and come over hunting on the King Ranch..and enjoying themselves and talking to Big Sugar..who now just trashed the Amendment we passed this last election about water. PLEASE keep your idiots at home and we will try to corral ours…

    22
  23. Mark J, you might want to consider Maryland. We did get a GOP governor last time (which happens whenever the D candidate just stands there and says “Vote for me, I’m the Democrat”) but the legislature is still D, and we got same-sex marriage equality by voting on it statewide, rather than through a court decision.

    23
  24. I’m going to go out on a very sturdy limb and guess that Miller is vehemently anti-abortion.

I’ve never understood how the pro-bombing crowd ignores the fact that mass bombing of civilians tends to kill pregnant women. It’s a pretty devastating method of abortion.

The only thing I can figure is that if the mom dies too that somehow makes it okay.

It’s okay, if the pregnant mom is the sort of person who Needs Killin’.

It’s the (minimum 2 out of 3) White, Christian, American preborn that must be saved at all costs. No point in saving the babies if people you want to exterminate. Lice breed nits, yanno.
