HB 40 and The Shakes
This morning, Governor Greg Abbott made it very clear that he intends to sign HB40, a screamingly horrible bill that says local governments cannot ban fracking in their jurisdiction.
And God answered —
The U.S. Geological Survey reports an earthquake rattled North Texas early Monday afternoon.
The USGS reports a 3.3-magnitude earthquake was recorded at 1:14 p.m.
Friends reported a few broken windows and a jolt. And this follows a 4.0 earthquake in Dallas on May 7th.
I need to add that some Democrats supported HB40. I hope they walked away with a suitcase full of money because everybody thinks they did.

1If local municipalities can’t control what gets into their drinking water, and they don’t know what fracking companies use in their “special sauce” so the proper type of filter can be used to try and remove those substances, it’s only a matter of time until people get poisoned, municipalities are sued, the towns are then forced to turn over their water supply systems to private companies, perhaps the same companies who inject fracking chemicals because they would know what to filter out… and oh, wait a minute…
2If you can’t ban fracking, then you can’t ban anything that would poison the running water, groundwater, water wells, the air, the ground, livestock, people, wild animals, birds or the occasional chupacabra.
You can’t ban strip mining, blast mining, shaft mining, slope mining, mountaintop removal nor any sort of sub-nuclear detonation.
You can’t control, in any way shape or form, any drillage or spillage causing illage in your village if it prevents the pillage.
Which I guess is kind of the point, eh?

4GA absolutely cannot be much of a real lawyer. This is headed for a court decision and its gonna cost him money to defend the indefensible. This guy is incapable of learning!
5the residents of Texass need to speak with the residents of Silt, Colorado( a small town on the Western slope of Colorado on the southern edge of the Roan plateau) can no longer drink their water due to fracking.
6Can local communities enact local taxes or fees that make fracking too expensive? (Although fracking already has a negative ROI – it’s really just an investment scam & bubble).
7The Demoncrats may be marginally better than the rePUKEians, but the 1% control both! And what the 1% wants they get. And giving every one else the middle finger…that’s why we are called the middle class.
8The Republicans are all about “local control” until the locals do something the head honchos don’t like, especially if it involves money or sex.
Ask anybody in DC– the GOP in Congress just love to dick around with laws passed by DC voters and the way the DC council wants to spend local taxes, and DC can’t do squat about it because they don’t even have a vote in Congress. (DC license plates say “Taxation Without Representation.”)

12I am so confused. I thought the GOP was all for local control….now they say no to everything from banning fracking, to banning plastic bags, to marriage (well some of them)…when will they decide what side they are on? Oh yeah, it is the money side!

I foresee a class action suit filed by the largest Municipal Assciations in Texas with many hangers on and amicus on their amicusses! This is too draconian to just let lie; and kinda hilarious when you count the times the GOP and their apologists have used the word “overreach” in the last 2-3 years!

Aggieland Liz-in Colorado fracking companies band together and sue municipalities-threaten to bankrupt the cities if they even attempt to ban fracking. Guess who wins that war?

Insurance companies claim acts of god aren’t covered,big awl claims bankruptcy and Gregg A-Butt has to kiss Obie’s black ass to get federal monies to mitigate big awl from losing everything. And the little people lose out again.
19Between the drought & quakes, we’ve become a regular shake-and-bake (for those who remember the commercial).
You know what would make things even better? If somehow we could only run some pipelines through that now geologically unstable soil….
20The Republicans and Tea Party lunatics will do anything to make sure their pockets stay thickly lined by Oil&Gas, which has controlled Texas for decades. They have no intention of representing the citizens of this state.

For those of you living in Rep. Lamar Smith’s district, he is undecided about TPP so you can call him and say you want him to vote against TPP because it will mess with our national sovereignty because of the international tribunal which will override all the laws in individual companies. You don’t have to mention that the obscenely rich have that disease of wanting more more more.
22Marge Wood, you’d think the GOP would oppose TPP because it lets furriners sue in corporate court and wipe out Amurrican laws if they… oh… might interfere with profits. And the laws they won’t like are to protect the environment, animal welfare, workers, and consumer safety. I think I just answered my own question.

24Well, if they allow that sort of thing in CO, then that’s what will happen. It hadn’t been happening here, but communities had been seeing the docu pieces on Weatherford and surrounds where they can light their water with a match and decided to take protective measures; so the po’ lil’ oil cos went and whined to their bought and paid for reps and NOW see what we have?! I suppose when Dallas falls into a sinkhole that MAY get their attention, but five’ll get you ten they’ll blame it on gays and abortion!
