Heads Up

January 09, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

In case you’re just checking in, Chris Christie is crawling out of his hole to speak to the public at 11:00 am ET, and that would be 10:00 am Texas time, except in this century.  Texas is usually a century behind.

Question:  is that too early for popcorn?  Wine?  Fireworks?  Scorn?

Just asking.  Fun watching.

UPDATE:  Fun thoughts as this goes along.

Oh, I get it.  You know that woman who couldn’t get an ambulance fast enough?  Not victim.  Chris Christie: victim.

Does it bother anyone but me that he left himself wiggle room for any new information that he finds in the future?  You can bet your patootie he knows more information will.

He says, “I am not a bully.”  Or a crook either?

It seems to me that Chris Christie wants you to remember this one thing:  he is the greatest person who ever lived.

Thelma just said, “Honey, we should be there because Christie is passing the bucks.  We need the money.”

Question.  How come Christie has been up soul searching over this for two nights if he only found out about it yesterday morning?  (Okay, he now says he misspoke.)

You know, it appears that Chris Christie doesn’t know much.  Now he’s claiming not to know anything about traffic studies.

With no votes counted, I am ready to declare New Jersey for Hillary Clinton.

How long are they going to let this thing go on?  It’s been an hour.

Okay, those of you who started reading a Russian novel when this press conference started have finished by now.  Christie hasn’t.

“I will apologize for the people under me who lied.”  Really.  How about, “I m sorry to be such a poor damn manager.”

Be social and share!

  1. Ralph Wiggam says:

So who will he blame, Obama, Clinton, Pelosi?

    1
  2. You can be sure he will not own up to his own involvement. He’ll throw some staff to the wolves and move on. He’s a Repug after all.

    2
  3. Jean Kuhn says:

He can lie with the best of them. He is a bully and I am certain he knew exactly what was planned and had a good laugh over it (after he had his tantrum over the Mayor of Fort Lee not endorsing him.

I don’t think I can even bear to watch this latest show he is going to put on. I just had a late breakfast and I don’t want to throw it up. New Jersey should be ashamed that they elected this overblown gasbag of a bully.

    3
  4. Marge Wood says:

It’s never too early for popcorn.

    4
  5. He looks so sad. But I guess if you get caught in a big lie you would be sad.
He’s “owning up” to being responsible, but he’s sacking others.
    Being responsible but not responsible.

    5
  6. The Mayor of Ft. Lee is a Democrat.

Gov. Christie is a Republican, why did he expect an endorsement ?

I turned on C-Span last evening at 6:30 Central time to find Gohmert squawking. I then turned to C-Span 2 to find Marco Rubio squawking. Gohmert was saying that having the gov’t bail out auto industries pushed American auto industries into foreign ownership or some such non-sense. Who cares what Rubio had to say. Christie’s henchmen and women will throw themselves on their swords and his corpulent lil corpus delecti will pile on to make sure the swords do their jobs and no one can testify about Christie’s role at a later date.

    7
  8. What was the point of doing it, anyway? It’s not like the Mayor’s lack of endorsement cost Christie the election. And Wildstein’s comment about letting the kids suffer because they were kids of democratic voters is chilling. That will be hard to distance himself from.

Christie’s problem is that wingnuts love him for being a bully, while mainstreamers deplore it. He’s in a no-win situation for a general election.

    8
  9. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Christie is going full out Palin with “I”m the victim here.”

Warner, Christie hugged President Obama after hurricane Sandy. So when he was up for re-election, he wanted a little love from his city mayors in the form of an endorsement. His message, “no one of either party need run against me. I own all of you.”

    9
  10. e platypus onion says:

Warner,I suspect it has to do with there being more registered Dems than Rethugs in New Jersey. A quid-pro-quo deal where if Ft Lee endorses Christie, they might be looked upon more favorably when Christie hands out goodies. If not, well, you see what happened.

    http://www.politickernj.com/wallye/33748/dem-voter-registration-edge-14-points-over-gop

Registered Dems lead registered rethugs 34% to 20%,while unaffiliated voters are at 46% in New Jersey.

  12. Quick, get his wife a cloth coat! (I know dating myself here)

He knows there is more, he isn’t revealing anything, but he is saying if you dig and find it without my help, I’ll wiggle around it, but until then, “I’m shocked! Shocked to hear there is gambling going on here!”

Christie is a bully, go over to You Tube and search Christie bullies teacher and watch what pops up. Suppose this will get the traction the IRS scandal got? No, I didn’t think so either. “Your winnings sir?”

    12
  13. Round up the usual suspects. Then fire them.

    13
  14. He has thrown two people under the bus.

    14
  15. e platypus onion says:

Hope Dems go “Darrell(my brother did it) Issa ” all over Christie for the next couple of years.

    15
  16. Breaking News: No word yet on whether Christie’s dog Checkers also works out with a personal trainer every morning. In a related story, investigators are looking in to whether the dog sends emails or will be involved in traffic studies.

    17
  17. fierywoman says:

So he didn’t blame it on Benghazi? I guess he still has time.

    18
  18. You know, I’m not a 100% with all a ya’ll right now.

Chris Christie is a self-acknowledged blunt speaker. No evidence to the contrary and I think that some level of fairness should be applied here.

Somehow I feel that there has been a major shift in lumping every single politician who is affiliated Republican into the same boat.

I tend to believe what he is saying. Although, and he has acknowledged this, it starts at the top. Major soul searching is in order.

    19
  19. fenway fran says:

He is not a bully? Seems to me the guy inside of him who did the finger wagging in the face of a teacher asking a straightforward question of him is winning the battle of Who is the REAL Chris Christie.

    20
  20. daChipster says:

This is the problem with today’s GOP: there is no there there. Think about the intellectual and moral gymnastics necessary to argue the completely dumbass positions they do. You have to look someone straight in the eye and, without a shred of irony, self-doubt or compunction and say:

    • Rich people need more money, poor people need less food.
    • Corporations are people, except when they’re not.
    • That stuff rich people/corporations are trickling down on your neck is lemonade, and jobs.
    • Freedom of religion means you’re free to follow MY religion.
    • Guns don’t kill people, people kill people, unless you’re a corporation, in which case you’re not killing anybody, really, and regulations protecting real people kill corporate people because… Freedom!
    • Calling somebody a racist is racist. Identifying class warfare is class warfare. Trying to vote is voter fraud, and voting restrictions are protecting the vote.
    • Climate change is a hoax perpetrated by people with nothing to gain from it against people who have everything to gain denying it.
    • Gay rights hurt hetero rights, minority rights hurt majority rights and poor rights hurt rich rights because… Jesus!

Given the absolute madness of those positions, and the moral turpitude it takes to push them, and the bald-faced hypocrisy it takes to look the voters in the eye and ask for their vote, you gotta ask yourself – what kind of talent pool do the Republicans have to draw on? It is AXIOMATIC that the entire party be peopled with morons, liars and thieves.

So when something like this comes to light, it shocks me that people are shocked. It’s not an accident that knuckleheads like this rose to power, it’s a mathematical certainty.

Because since 1960, the GOP has slowly, steadily and inexorably gone criminally insane.

    21
  21. All of the republicans who have been searching for President Obama’s real birth certificate are now searching for the real GW Bridge traffic study.

    22
  22. Lorraine in Spring says:

Since I’m from the area, let me just point out that Chris Christie’s BFF David Wildstein is claiming the 5th while testifying under oath. That’s because he’s more afraid of Christie’s friends than he is of going to prison. Let that sink in a moment.

    23
  23. e platypus onion says:

Christie did say his administration was not involved in this, then he claimed people in his administration deceived him. All he needs to say is everyone involved was taken out of context and he will have hit the wingnut denial trifecta.

    24
  24. daChipster: You hit all those Repug nails on the head. Thank you for so succinctly summing up what’s been going on. To pretend otherwise is like praising the Emperor’s new clothes. They don’t exist and neither does an ethical Republican.(government shutdown)

    25
  25. Marcia in CO says:

DaChipster … I applaud your pronouncement … it fits perfectly!!

    26
  26. Gidget Commando says:

I hate to sound all hipster-ish, but I knew Christie was a bully way back before it was all the cool thing. (I know a lot of his earlier targets, who I hope are enjoying a cigar and a good single malt today.)

I think his fired deputy chief of staff is going to start singing like Maria Callas any minute after being thrown under the bus with such ill will and insulting language. It simply ain’t done that way, kids.

I think it’s time I get me a good single malt and settle in to watch it all come down.

    27
  27. @daChipster:

    You got all that
“• Rich people need more money, poor people need less food.
    • Corporations are people, except when they’re not.
    • That stuff rich people/corporations are trickling down on your neck is lemonade, and jobs.
    • Freedom of religion means you’re free to follow MY religion.

    from 1984? Right?

  28. Woo hoo,

Rachel Maddow just came up with the most Machiavellian tale of retribution for a possible explanation. Seems NJ Supreme Court Justices get nominated for a preliminary 7 year term, then renominated till age 70. Historically all Justices have been renominated by the governor W/O regard to party affiliation of either party, until Christie. The only black Justice was denied, and the NJ Senate Dems got irate enough to reject any nominee put forward by Christie. Then a Republican (female) Justice came up for renewal, and rather than submit to the grilling of a close political ally’s wife by the Senate, Christie pulls her too. (The Dems were going to block all nominees until the next “auto-reupping”, or some such). Then Christie has a presser where he labels the Dems “animals”. The very next morning, the Senate Dem leader’s district is hit with…Fort Lee traffic attack.

Watch Maddow’s show as I’m sure to have been incomplete in my understanding of the OMGness of this backstory. Sheesh!
