The Daily Louie: Reasoning a la Carte

October 09, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I don’t know why we didn’t think of this.

Megamind:NoMindRep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) asserted this week that the government shutdown could actually keep the U.S. from defaulting on its debts if and when Congress refuses to raise the debt ceiling — unless President Barack Obama is plotting a conspiracy not to pay the nation’s bills.

Oh, so you avoid defaulting on debts if you keep the government shut down.  No government, no debts.

Louie, Dude, you’re a freekin’ genius.

Louie has also moved away from the whole Muslim Hitler thing and went for Al Capone.  He says of President Obama —

“But we know he is willing to spend money just to inflict hurt,” he opined. “So, it’s hard to say what people like that would be willing to do. And I think it has more to do with Chicago thuggery. You know, Al Capone was willing to make people hurt if they didn’t go along with the proposals.”

But his logic gets a tiny bit twisted as he goes on …

“There’s no such thing as a clean CR,” Gohmert remarked. “He just wants his big sack of cash. And forget the Constitution. We’re moving toward monarchy here, where we want the money, no strings attached. Well, the Constitution attaches strings.”

Not if there’s no government, Louie.  No government, no strings.

Thanks to Bananas for the heads up.

  1. Actually Al Capone was Cicero, not Chicago. Minor point, but one that still lived in who ran Cicero into the 70s.

The Cicero Club uniformed its waitresses in the same fashion as the Chesterfield Club of KC.

  2. Where’s Al Capone when we need him?

I’d like to believe there is a finite limit to gross stoopidity and it is apparent nutjobs aren’t even close to reaching the bottom. Toss these dumb SOBs some dumb anchors so they hit bottom quicker and then the rest of us can clean up their mess, again.Stoopid by powers of negative tens. BTW, Capone died of Syphyllis(I believe). Maybe that is what is eating Gohmert Grape’s brain.

The fact that so-called news organizations report the ravings of lunatics like Louis, Ted, Michelle, the various Pauls (Ron, Rand, and Ryan), and Blake (not to mention half of North Carolina) is one of the factors that allows people to blithely state the both parties are equally culpable. That really IS even worse than I think.

NO maryelle, merely a better Texas Sen than John Cornyn. I can repudiate that statement without actually carrying water for Cornyn, right y’all? Cornyn is – er – on the fringe (!) but LOUIE?! He’s dumber than the Canadian import I’d like to murder that we are stuck with in the other Sen slot, and look at the mayhem that little $hit has caused!

  8. Gohmert is allergic to facts and so this could be fun. Experts have looked at this issue and the shutdown only ads a couple of days to debt ceiling limit http://www.latimes.com/business/money/la-fi-mo-government-shutdown-debt-limit-20131004,0,7461894.story

The partial government shutdown reduces the federal government’s expenses but not enough to significantly push back the mid-October date by which the debt limit needs to be raised, according to Treasury Department officials and a think-tank analysis.

The Treasury Department has estimated that the government would be at risk of a default if the debt limit is not raised by Oct. 17. The Bipartisan Policy Center, which has done extensive debt-limit analysis, has estimated that the so-called X Date for raising the debt limit is between Oct. 18 and Nov. 5.

There’s been speculation that the government shutdown could change those estimates, but in a letter to lawmakers this week, Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew said it would not.

  9. That was reasoning? If we are pitched into default via the denial of jokers like Louie-louie, then his office should be the first one in Congress to be repossessed and in public! I can just see him now flailing away and shrieking like the green goblin in the Ring Trilogy: “precious! My precious!” as they take his thumpin big executive office chair out the door.
