The Traveling Trinity of Turmoil
So Louie Gohmert, Michele Bachmann and Steve King walk into a bar …
Or Egypt. Could be Egypt.
“We met with for a long meeting General el-Sissi and many of the military leaders, and my friend Steve King mentioned again about our heritage in America,” Gohmert explained. “George Washington, doing what no one had ever done before him, led a military in revolution, won the revolution, and then resigned and went home.”
What? Say hey? When did that happen? Yeah, Yeah, el-Sissi is just exactly like George Washington, er … well, except for the 8,000 of his own people that he’s killed since Morsi’s ouster. Hey, but that’s minor. And he does, in fact have a very cool hat like George Washington did.
Please, somebody tell Louie that they’ve already heard the Walk Like a Egyptian joke so quit dancing like a damfool.
Now I am wonder where Michele Bachmann gets off telling al-Sisi —
“We were cheering in front of our televisions back home in the United States,” Bachmann said, referring to when the Egyptian military overthrew Morsi. “We were cheering for you.”
Where did she get this “we” stuff? I wasn’t cheering. I was horrified, confused, and deeply disturbed by it.
Why do I get the feeling that these three clowns cannot wait to see this happen in the United States?
Is it just me or is there some weird form of treason going on here?
Thanks to everybody for the heads up.
You nailed it dear. The Three Stooges depicted in the article are giving the hint, hint, nod, nod to our generals. Treasonous, just treasonous of this subversive trio!
1“George Washington, doing what no one had ever done before him, led a military in revolution, won the revolution, and then resigned and went home.” Louie Gohmert
Was this the same General Washington who became President Washington?
2Seems to me there was a part there that Louie forgot…I mean you know when Washington served two terms as President? Does the history book in Texas schools have that factoid in it or was it Louie’s lobotomy that made him forget?
3So much for supporting freedom and democracy. But then, those three don’t support it in this country either.
4Idiots abroad.
5Rick and Reamus,
As I recall, Washington did first “go home” and then later was approached and coaxed into stepping up as 1st President (actually King was suggested, but he supposedly caboshed this). So yes he served, but he did not initiate being the new leader of nation like many conquering military coup leaders do.
Hate to say it, but Gohmert was not actually untrue in his statement–however I am sure that is not because he actually knew the correct facts, he just lucked out this time in his attempt to revise history.
6Bachmann needs to meet with the Muslim Brotherhood.
7My question…..do we have to let these seditious creeps back into the country?
8How the heck did those 3 ever get clearance to actually get on an airplane and leave the U.S.? Maybe they’ll meet up with Dennis Rodman in N. Korea and they’ll all party down with the Dictator Boy King over there.
Sweet Jesus … those ignorant asswipes will bring on WWIII all by their lonesomes!!
9Is this some sort of deep cover CIA plot to convince the Egyptian generals that all Americans are profoundly ignorant?
10I hope there is no lasting legacy to this louche Legion of Lunacy.
11I hope Egyptians don’t read about the birth of Jesus Christos and feel like the US government stiffed Egypt by sending two less than stellar examples of wisdumb and one cranky old neverwas virgin with a huge disdain for swarthy looking middle east dudes.
12I wrote my senator, asking why ANYONE lets these people go anywhere, especially on our dime! They are a veritable Stampede of Stupid!
13Next they’re going to build a fort in the backyard, call it a headquarters, w/a sign by the front flap “only military dictators allowed.” Heck, I’ve even got some old blankets they could use.
14This posse can cause more disaster than a nuclear strike! To perdition (no, that’s not Gitmo) with all of them!
15Meet the Wit family..Dim, Nit and Half (stolen from a commenter on Raw Story) but I thought u would love it
16So … King claims that the Egyptian military dictatorships that have controlled the Egyptian government and people for more than a half-century also display the same democratic virtues as the Continental Army during the American Revolution? King is an ignorant nitwit who clearly slept his way through history class.
Who have the presidents of Egypt been from the time that King Farouk was overthrown in 1953 until the revolution in 2012? Naguib. Nasser. Sadat. Mubarak. All career officers who exercised iron rule through their military grip.
Who were the first American presidents? Washington. Adams. Jefferson. Madison. Monroe. None with military backgrounds except Washington, whose political base was derived by public acclamation after the Army was nearly dissolved following the Revolutionary War. And even so, Washington’s origins were not primarily in the military. He was born into the colonial landed gentry and groomed for life as a plantation owner and manager.
Steve King and his mush mouth pal Louie Gohmert have a very skewed idea of freedom and democracy to be comparing the Egyptian military autocracy to the American Founding Fathers. Failing grades for both King and Gohmert in Government 101. On that basis alone, they are incompetent and unfit to serve in Congress.
17Any chance their return flight will go into the Bermuda Triangle?
You notice I didn’t mention it leaving the Bermuda Triangle…
18I’ve got a bigger problem with Bachmann than with King and Gohmert on Geo. Washington.
She told them (the Egyptians) that she knew the Muslim Brotherhood was responsible for 9/11! Hellloooo — the Muslim Brotherhood is not the Muslim brotherhood of Al-Qaeda. It’s with a capital B — it is a completely separate political group that ruled Egypt for a year or so. The other brotherhood [of evil] hides in caves in Afghanistan and Pakistan and sends men to the US to take pilot lessons and CAUSE 9/11.
I don’t know if I’ll last until her term runs out — either cuz I shoot myself, I beg someone else to shoot me, or I go make fun of George Z.
19General Al-Sissi went on a rampage against a right-wing religious party… so, if we did have a General Al-Sissi type here, who would be likely to be rounded up do you think. Nyuck, nyuck, nyuck (to quote the other Three Stooges).
20OMG, I saw the clip of Bachman speaking on TV last night, every one was speechless, is this woman sane?
21“We were cheering in front of our televisions back home in the United States,” Bachmann said, referring to when the Egyptian military overthrew Morsi. “We were cheering for you.”
What I saw on my television was the military killing people in the streets. Was that what Bachmann was cheering for?
22Commenters here are right on the mark. Go over to the Military Religious Freedom Foundation from time to time and check out how hard the WingNuts are working trying to take over the US military.
This has been going on since the ’50s when some wacko right wing congressman suggested to a US Air Force general that some “true patriot” pilots should just fly to Moscow and drop some bombs there. Reportedly the general replied that “the US military doesn’t operate that way. It is under civilian command.”
23I guess we should just be happy that Sarah Palin didn’t tag along and embarrass us even more.
24Gohmert, as always, was wrong. I refer you to the story of Cincinnatus.
Cincinnatus was a fairly successful politician of the ancient Roman Republic whose son was tried and convicted in absentia for crimes against the people (an attitude his father shared, BTW). Cincinnatus sold almost all he had to pay the associated fines, and retired to a small farm.
Internecine Italian warfare found the Roman army trapped by the Aequi, and the Senate in a panic nominated Cincinnatus to be dictator. He was notified while plowing (the story goes), left his plow, raised an army, won the war, then laid aside the dictatorship, and returned to his plow all within 16 days.
He is later reputed to have repeated this feat to put down a revolt, becoming dictator, then relinquishing power when the lead conspirator was killed “resisting arrest.”
In the 4000-year history of civilization, I’m sure there are other examples, but Gohmert should have known this one since the U.S. Society of Cincinnatus was begun to hail Washington’s “sacrifice” which eventually led to the naming of Cincinnati.
25Liza Monet: I enjoyed meeting the Wit Family.
When these morons speak, most Americans ignore, but having them display their abject stupidity and ignorance internationally is too much to bear.
