The Good News and the Bad News
The good news is that Governor Jan “the finger in the President’s face” Brewer is term-limited out in Arizona.
The bad news? This guy is running.
Disbarred former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas has announced he will run for governor in 2014.
In an e-mail to members of the media, the Republican said he file paperwork today with the Secretary of State’s Office.
“I’ll be focusing on the need to protect public safety, ensure border security and fight corruption, among other issues,” Thomas said in the e-mail. “Voters will be urged to watch the video of my State Bar hearing and see for themselves how honest prosecutors are railroaded for fighting corruption in this state.”
And what was he disbarred for?
… misusing his office to attack the county’s judiciary, independent media, Latino residents, and any perceived adversaries of him and his staunch ally, Joe Arpaio.
This guys makes Jan Brewer looks like Indira Ghandi.
Honey, this is Arizona. Being disbarred for corruption is a badge of honor.
Thanks to still gramiam for the heads up.
I just want to know, WHY doesn’t Texas have term limits? Huh? and WHY does Perry get a salary plus retirement? You may get tired of hearing me harp on this. At least AZ has term limits.
1Always remember that the core of crazy is R-AZ.
2It could/may get worse.
I don’t know the residency laws for Arizona, but sarah palin, half term twit from Alaska has a house in Arizona.
I’m sure there will be many calling for her to run. If the law allows her to. Or even if the law does not.
Or maybe she is waiting for john mcCain to ……..
3Oh, gawd . . . . no big surprise. I can cite two former friends, one who I grew up with and another, who I worked for who live in Arizona. Buh, bye . . . They fit right in. I know, I know, not everyone is like that there, but . . . but . . .
4Diane,
Don’t worry, Mooselini won’t be running for anything. That might require Sarah to leave her home and uuuuummmm—work. Plus, she’d consider it slave wages and it would be impossible for her to duck and cover after she made (on a daily basis) a complete fool of herself.
Andrew Thomas proves there is no exceptionalism–american or otherwise coming out of the republican party these days.
5No shame either.
Sounds like a typical Arizona Republican. Barry Goldwater, who had sense, is spinning in his grave a lot nowadays.
6He should do ok with Arpaio locking up everybody who opposes him.
7There seems to an abundance of disgraced Republican attorneys, former governors, senators and oh, yes, presidents from which to choose.
8Eeny meeny miny mo…….
I grew up and ran away from Arizona when have no desire to even go for a visit…one friend that got stuck into going back because of taking care of her mother…other people I know there are not friends anymore because they are cR-AZy…their choice, because they wanted to spare me…my daughter and I had a big discussion over guns this morning–the organized milita part had escaped her, but when we talked it through, she saw as I had years ago, that that particular facet of the 2nd amendment could actually be useful in a get to know your neighbors, organizing your own community milita and establishing a lot of “small town” neighborhoods inside urban cities–something we might all use in a “neighborhood watch” kind of way–Japan has a high rate of solving murders because people step up and say that a stranger was in the neighborhood, we do not usually know who belongs and who doesn’t except for maybe on either side and directly across the way…which made the discussion turn into a solving space instead of black helicopters paranoia…a good time had by all. So glad I got away.
9Thomas was disbarred, right? Since he can no longer get a real job, he has no option but politics. It seems that the repugs pick their candidates based largely on how dishonest and corrupt they are. In their crazy world, it all makes perfect sense — if they pay him to be in office, they won’t have to hand him “entitlements,” and they’ll all be richer. In the repug world there are no consequences for reprehensible behavior — it’s all good.
10Of course Jan Brewer looks like Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi has been dead since 1984.
11Lovely, LynnN! A lot of the crazies want Andy to run because maybe it will make a third term for Jan Brewer more bearable to the AZ Supreme Court.
12Damn, you can’t hardly make stuff up like this. AZ is such a good source of conservanazi stupidity. ;^)
