6’3″, 215 pounds

I am normally against fat shaming people. Ultimately, in a real sense no one should care that much. Obviously, body issues play a lot in our own lives and goodness knows many of us have enough self-esteem issues to worry about. However, I enjoy playing amateur psychologist. What does this whopper mean?

Trump’s behavior reminds me of a golfer I played against in high school. No one keeps their own score in competitive golf. So, I kept his. On the first hole he dribbled it a few feet in front of the tee box, snap hooked the next one out of bounds, and then proceeded to dribble it up the fairway in an agonizingly slow pace. He was lying about six by the green. He chilly dipped his chip, then dribbled it on the green. He finished with a three putt which put him at 11 by my count.

When I asked him what he got he told me a five. That was a non-starter, so we kept bartering up. I think we settled on a nine. Something inside told me to just accept an approximation. He was in no danger of beating me and his team would be in dire trouble if they actually used his score. This was my day. He would throw out a number as if it were a negotiation. We’d haggle for a few minutes until we settled on a score that loosely resembled what he had actually done.

There are tales from the golf course involving Trump that sound equally infuriating. On one occasion he browbeat someone and bulldozed a fellow player into accepting that their ball on the green was actually Trump’s and their ball had in fact gone in the water. The reverse was the real truth but I can imagine the emotional fatigue.

Most of us that play golf accept a certain amount of cheating. We are fond of saying that the USGA rules are really just a suggestion. We allow bumping to improve the lie. We allow one mulligan per round. We allow two shots off the first tee. Putts within a certain distance of the hole are considered good. Most people that play golf are familiar with this kind of setup.  Others of us omit strokes every now and then. As long as this practice is occasional and not routine our playing partners don’t seem to mind. Golf can be a great allegory for life.

This is the same as the height and weight. What we know is that neither of those numbers are anywhere close to accurate. Trump is somewhere between 6’0” and 6’1”. There have been enough people that have met him that we know the 6’3” isn’t accurate.  The estimation by most that have met him is that Trump is likely closer to 300 pounds. That would throw him into the obese category and would make his frequent insults of other people (say Chris Christie) to be hilariously hypocritical. Yet, this is the golf thing all over again. If I ambush you with a slew of whoppers in one sitting you will become mentally and psychologically exhausted before the round (or activity) is through.

No one is really fooled by any of it. No one really believes that all of these people came up with tears in their eyes to beg him for anything. Yet, he has millions defending each of these things. They rationalize it in their mind somehow. Meanwhile, the rest of us have to make a calculation of which lies we will contest and which ones we will just let go. After all, what is the difference between an 8 and 10 on the scorecard at the end of the round?

When I googled if malignant narcissists exaggerate (duh) this came up:
“One of the most common signs of a narcissist is a constant need for praise or admiration. People with this behavior need to feel validation from others and often brag or exaggerate their accomplishments for recognition. They also like to feel appreciated to boost their ego.Mar 30, 2023”- from WebMD 2023
I would say this exaggeration includes how they describe themselves to others. The thing in trumpf’s favor is how his rabid followers (cultists) believe whatever he says. It’s a perfect storm for lies to grow into truths in his crowd.
I played golf with my boss in the early 70’s and he fit all of this. One thing he told me in business is never admit when you’re wrong.

I’m assuming the scale was set to read in kilograms.

Steve from Beaverton – Magats are anoetic. There’s no other explanation.

  5. anoesis (uncountable)

(psychology) The reception of impressions or sensations (by the brain) without any intellectual understanding.

Opinionated Hussy teaches us (me) a new word.

Opinionated Hussy and AK Lynne- thanks, wasn’t familiar with the word anoetic. Describes trumpf’s followers to a “T”! As I think about it, the word also describes followers of many other politicians. To name a few- DeSantis, MTG, Jim Jordan, Abbutt, ………..and on and on.

My husband, aka The Sweetie, is 6’2″ and 215 lb. I won’t post a picture, and of course there is no way he’d stand next to The Former Guy (TFG). But even if you allow them the same height, TFG has at least 60 lb on The Sweetie. Of course The Sweetie runs marathons and does yoga, so all of his 215 lb. are nicely arranged, unlike TFG, whose body shape apparently suffers from dickiedo, as defined in the next post about Ted Crud. (No, I have not seen the definitive evidence on dickiedo for TFG, and am grateful that I have been and hopefully always will be spared that sight.)

You learn something new everyday. I remember my father in law describing a similar phenomenon with certain women where the gut extends further than the chest. I of course said nothing because saying anything would get me in trouble from one direction or another. I have the Hank Hill diminished glutes problem, so like I said in the article. We all have body issues and so the whole business was not important by itself but was interesting as it fit the whole telling of lies as a general rule.

  9. Grandma Ada says:

Since Ivana, a woman he was no longer married to, is buried on his golf course, he must have had approval from her children to go there rather than a cemetery, the East River, or some other spot. Did he talk them into putting her on the first tee or did they talk him into it?

  10. Charly Hoarse says:

Sports Illustrated’s Rick Reilly wrote a whole book about The Don cheating at golf:

  12. I assume Trump self reported his weight & height, & golf scores with a black Sharpie. That makes it so, and it’s indelible.

    12
  13. The Fulton County court made a major FU when it allowed DiJioT to self-specify his own height, weight, etc.; gave him ‘special treatment’ that was specifically stated to not be given.
Instead of actually taking those measurements by official personnel, as is done for every other arraigned criminal.
Of course he lied his fat ass off [or his aides did] on the arraignment documents.

And I know that he’s nowhere near those numbers. I’m about the same build, but 6′ 4-5″, almost the exact same age, and I haven’t been at 215lbs in decades.

    13
  14. T-Dump has made a habit of ridiculing the physical appearance of others, so he sets himself up for retribution in kind.
He knows his ignorant followers will suck up every word he says as God’s own truth, and thinks his obvious lies are swallowed whole by the rest of us. If only the Fulton County police had forced reality down his disgusting throat by requiring the weigh-in. Perhaps a reality check is coming, but it can’t be soon enough!

    14
  15. I happen to be an old, extremely bony person, but that wasn’t always the case, so I would never shame someone else for their weight. TFG apparently believes that lying about it changes the facts. From now on, when I see “TFG,” I will automatically think, “That Fat Guy.” Can’t help it.
