Majorie Taylor Green On Point

July 19, 2023 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Joe Biden’s Twitter account used the words of Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Turning Points Action Conference speech from last weekend where she commenced to poop all over the president’s policies but ended up making him sound terrific.

Oh Marge Honey, go back to smoking that backwoods weed laced with Roundup and pig poop.  You’re talking about education, health care, and Medicare like they are bad things.

And while we’re here, I think the heat is taking its toll on Republican brains.  Andy Biggs out in Arizona is making up stories without a pinkie of evidence that Joe Biden’s family is stealing the silverware off your table.

House Republican Andy Biggs (R-AZ) joined Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo on Tuesday and accused President Joe Biden and his family of potentially taking in over $100 million – a wild corruption accusation that blows past anything other GOP politicians have levied.

“Maria, we’re talking literally, it’s not $10 million. It’s it’s well over 20, $30 million. And some estimates as high as $100 million flowing through these accounts,” Biggs declared.

“Holy moly!” exclaimed Bartiromo as Biggs spoke.

Holy moly? Is that a journalism term I missed somewhere?

When Prayers Are Answered

Well, it’s about time.

Look, if he has two neurons still synapsing, he will not testify before the grand jury.  If we have two neurons still synapsing, he will go to prison.

I hope the big sigh of relief blows this heat wave right out of Texas.

A Useful Idiot

There is an urban legend in Fort Worth circles about a guy that was pulled over. The police officer saw a mysterious package in the front seat. Supposedly, the driver said, “don’t worry officer, it’s not a bomb. It’s crack cocaine.” I seriously doubt this story is true, but we always told in Government class to illustrate a point. Some people are just stupid and you don’t want to be like them.

Well apparently the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. campaign has gotten off to an even worse start than Ron DeSantis’s campaign. Then, someone accused him of suggesting that the COVID virus was engineered and racially motivated. Then, he managed to make a statement that just cleared up everything.

Don’t worry officer. It’s not a bomb. It’s just crack cocaine. To put it another way, essentially Kennedy is saying, “I’m not a racist. I’m just nuts.” Is it any wonder that he is conservatives’ favorite spoiler candidate. They are hoping that you and me will overlook the crazy and just vote for him because he’s a Kennedy and because he is younger than Joe Biden.

Who knows what is motivating RFK Jr. Maybe he knows he has no chance in the world, but just wants his 15 minutes of notoriety. Maybe he is delusional enough to believe he has a chance. Maybe he knows exactly what conservatives are doing and just wants to take down Joe Biden for his own reasons. Maybe he is too dense to know he’s a tool. Maybe the tweet above is just an admission of lunacy.

Some people are just blessed without self-awareness. Let’s say his statement is 100 percent true. There are parts of it that make perfect sense. Maybe the virus was a bioweapon. Maybe it effects some people more than others. Maybe a lot of things. However, you put all of that together and it makes very little sense. Most people would know that before saying it. RFK Jr. isn’t most people.

The Politics of Identity

July 14, 2023 By: Nick Carraway Category: Uncategorized

I know it is not a good idea to ask people about their age, but I can reveal mine with impunity. This weekend is the 30th high school reunion. I attended the 10th and 25th. I imagine it will end up being about the same. It comes with a ton of mixed emotions that range from nostalgia, joy at seeing friends nearly forgotten, schadenfreude, and finally sadness.

The sadness comes from seeing what time has done to some people that were close friends in school. I remember having a running conversation with one of them prior to the last election. I think we got to the point where we were talking about the riots and I brought up the story about Trump supporters running Biden’s bus off the road along with the fact that a good portion of the damage in these “riots” was actually done by right wing extremist groups. That apparently was the last straw. We have not spoken since.

Obviously, within the conversation an obvious statement was made. I cannot condone anyone that hurts others or damages property. It was then that I discovered the extent of what had happened. Even though my friend was not a part of those right wing efforts or January 6th, he felt a kin to them and identified with them. So, when I started to criticize them it felt to him like I was criticizing him. If they were deplorable then he was deplorable. That sparked the reaction I got.

The 45th president has continually stoked this along the way. His message seems simple. All of this going on right now is a witch hunt and if they can put him in jail for specious charges then they can do the same to you. If you identify with the former president then it almost feels like they have indicted you. It feels like you are going to jail. They are persecuting you for merely being conservative. Let’s ignore the fact that 45 is not conservative. Let’s ignore the fact that 45 really doesn’t care about his followers. Let’s ignore the fact that he really has committed numerous crimes and wakes up out of bed committing more each day. You will never convince them of that because they have become so wrapped up in it that saying these things about him means you are saying it about them.

This is where the flip side comes in. They continually attack Hunter Biden and Joe Biden because they assume we are the same. They poke fun at him for his age. They question his support because no one carries a Biden flag or wears a Biden shirt. They are confused by this. Do I care that there was cocaine in the White House? Sure, I’d like to know that everyone working for the president is sober. Do I think it belonged to Hunter? Honestly I don’t. It may not have even belonged to a staff member. It was in a place where numerous people from the public could have left it.

Yet, here’s the difference. If it did belong to Hunter then he should go to jail. If it did belong to Joe then he needs to be impeached. If it belonged to a staffer then that staffer should be fired. It’s really that simple. We should definitely investigate this and not just assume anything. Our identity is not wrapped up in who we voted for. It can’t be. For those that find themselves attached to a politician, we really can’t help them anymore. We have to let it go. For those at the reunion, it just means talking about the past. The future for them is all too bleak anyway.

Book Bans, Ballots, and Bigots

July 13, 2023 By: Half Empty Category: Uncategorized

Oh, we have a mess brewing here on the Left Coast. A mess worthy of a brief update of a story posted a while back regarding the antics of the school board of the Temecula Valley Unified School District. Recall its recent ban of a social studies book (and supplemental materials) because of a 1/2 page long mention of the life of murdered San Francisco City Supervisor Harvey Milk in a supplement.

Stuff has happened.

First, one week after the protest rally mentioned in the piece, the TVUSD board met again, this time a vocal crowd of irate parents and teachers made their wishes known. This included a presentation to three school board members of Letters of Intent to Petition in order to begin the process of their recall as required by California law.

Not to be outdone, the three board members united and ousted the well-liked TVUSD school superintendent in a closed-door meeting that very day.

After a prescribed 12-day waiting period the recall campaign is moving forward, and supporters are signing recall petitions in three of the five TVUSD trustee districts. In all, 12,000 to 15,000 verified signitures are needed within the 120 days that are allotted for a successful recall to appear on a ballot, with a vote possible as early as March, 5th 2024 – the California Primary. Notably, spread among the three trustees in the recall, 12-15,000 is nearly the same number of votes the three trustees received in the November 2022 election.

Tossing in his $0.02, Congressman Darrell Issa (R CD-48) issued a press release on July 10th that includes this little gem:

“Democrat party leaders, clearly at Newsom’s direction, have organized a recall effort and are attempting to remove President Komrosky and the other conservatives on the Temecula school board….”

That’s fine. That’s what Issa does. He lies. Citing Governor Newsom as the “director” of the recall effort is a real hoot. Recall supporters in this case are not of one political party. Indeed, unlike Texas, local elected offices in California are all non-partisan. No one but Republicans are painting this affair as partisan. On the other hand, book bans are rarely – if ever- instigated by Democrats.

Fast-forward to today.

Today, we learn that the State of California will be providing one of four social studies curriculum options adopted by the state Board of Education to the Temecula Valley USD in spite of the school board ban, and will send TVUSD the bill for a cool $1.6 million.

It really is a nice gesture, don’t you think? Because without materials for the social studies curriculum, TVUSD stands to be in violation of the Williams Act that requires printed (not xeroxed) materials be provided for all curricula.

And the rumor is, a $1.5 million fine in addition to the cost of the books is in the offing. That’s roughly $100 for everyone who voted for those three bigots.
