I thought I had seen the lowest of the lows, but Republicans continue to shatter the floor for dishonesty.  Today, while North Carolina Democrats were at a 9/11 memorial ceremony,  Republicans pulled a fast one and held a rush vote to override Democratic Governor Roy Cooper’s veto of the Republican budget bill.  The Repubs have been trying to override the veto for 2 months, but couldn’t get the 3/5 majority.  Earlier, Republican chairman of the rules committee, David Lewis, lied to Democratic leader Darren Lewis that there would be no votes while the Democratic caucus was at the 9/11 ceremony.  As soon as they left, he held the vote and rammed through the vote, overriding Cooper’s veto.  Democratic Rep. Deb Butler shouted her objection and Repub Speaker Tim Moore tried to have her arrested.

They can’t win by the rules anymore, so they just break them.

First up, tomorrow is moving day, Thursday Bubba and I have tickets to the presidential debate, and Friday we close on this house so I’m gonna be busy as Trump on Twitter.  Be nice to El Jefe. He’s a friend and I like him.  He’s also smart, stubborn, and ready to pick a fight – just the kind of people I like.

Meanwhile, I want you to notice this.  Imagine if President Barack Obama had planned a secret meeting with the Taliban during the week of 9/11 at Camp David against the advice of everyone else in the administration.  Yeah, think about that.

We are having a special election in Texas for a State House seat vacated by a Republican who thought he might have problems winning again.  He was part of Texodus – Republican incumbents dropping like flies.

The special election is Tuesday, November 5th.  In Texas, a special election is a free for all – everybody runs and it’s winner take all. If nobody wins with 50% plus one, there will be a run-off between the top two vote getters.

Republicans are running six candidates. Six. In political science terms that’s officially referred to as a crap shoot. The sole Democratic candidate is Eliz Markowitz.  Yeah, yeah, it’s hard to believe that Democrats got our act together and fielded only one candidate so that the Democratic vote isn’t split six ways to hell and back.

I know Eliz personally and I am asking you to toss a few dollars her way.  She’s smart as the dickens and has all the right bright ideas. She’s hardworking and willing to do her part.  She’ll make you proud.

This is a flippable district and will give the winner a leg-up on the 2020 election.  Texas redistricting happens every ten years and 2020 is the year.  So, we have a real chance in this seat but she needs money now to get the vote out.  Send her some damn money.

Non-Trumpists know that Trump is a complete disaster, morally bankrupt, narcissistic, and a tyrant.  Sycophants ignore all that and worst of all, support his trade and economic policies which are a disaster for businesses large and small, especially farmers.  His trade war with the world, especially China, is destroying US markets at a scale virtually never seen in modern US history.  Farmers are feeling much of the pain inflicted on US business with their revenue from exports to China dropping by more than half, from $19.5 billion to $9.2 billion in 2018.  Farm bankruptcies have increased 13% since 2018 alone.  The US lobster industry has been virtually destroyed with Canada taking almost all of US Chinese export market share, generating a boom to its lobster fisherman.  US exports are down 84% since Trump imposed the tariffs.

Trump’s idiotic trade was is doing irreparable damage to US export markets all while he sycophants in red MAGA hats scream about scary dark skinned people and cheer on tax cuts for billionaires while being unable to pay their electric bill.  The brainwashing is complete, but it seems that farmers are waking up to a cold grey dawn of reality.
