Remember?

July 13, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Remember how the Affordable Care Act was the end of civilization as we know it?

Remember how Republicans called it Obamacare to remind people that you caught the Black Plague from it?

Remember how it wasn’t gong to work?

Remember how John Boehner is suing President Obama over it?

Lookie here.

This is the percentage of adult Americans who don’t have health insurance now.  Click the little done to get the big one.

So, the next time the Republicans tell you that the sky is falling, remember that falling can be a good thing.

The Good News, The Bad New, and Just The News

July 13, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

First the bad news:  Louie Gohmert wants to put war ships on the Rio Grande and shoot little children.  Customer Anne put it best  …

So the click-bait link says “America’s Dumbest Congressman compares migrant children to D-Day invasion, demands “Ships of War”, and I thought good heavens, finally! Someone dumber than our own Louie Gohmert.

I clicked.

And there was our very own Louie Gohmert.

In an ironic twist of fate, I’m gonna tell you a story that’ll make you smile.  Tom DeLay tried to save himself from indictment and conviction by building a community of houses for foster children.  There were eight gorgeous fully finished homes, a chapel, a full sized gym, a swimming pool, and a fishing pond with a dock.   Long story.  Short story.  After raising $6 million from his corporate political donors, Tom opened Rio Bend to much fanfare and glory.

1254860012_tom-delay-290He still got convicted.

The next week, he and his wife began to throw families out of the place unless they subscribed to his weird brand of religion. Lutheran charities, who had originally agreed to run the joint, pulled out.  Those 8 beautiful homes sat empty and the grounds went fallow for 5 years until Catholic Charities agree to take over if the DeLays weren’t involved at all.

The best part:

“What a milestone in our journey,” said Bonna Kol, president and CEO for Catholic Charities. “The Rio Bend community will allow our agency to serve truly vulnerable children who are in need of care, love and guidance. At full capacity, we will be caring for 48 infants and children from the state foster care, trafficked children and orphans from other countries such as Burma, Congo, Ethiopia and Central America.”

So the houses that Tom DeLay built for merely self-aggrandizement will more than likely house refugee children from Central America.

I bet his head explodes.

Thanks to Anne and Lorraine for the heads up.

Now look what the gays have done.

Join us for 40 Days of Prayer, Fasting and Repentance for Marriage from August 27 through October 5, 2014. Our state and nation are mired in confusion and post-modern thinking and nowhere is this more evident than in the current debate raging about what constitutes marriage. The Supreme Court begins their session on October 6th. We fully expect them to take a marriage case sometime in the next year. Our 40 Days will culminate on October 5th just before the court begins their session.

They even have a nice little sign for your front door.  Click the little one to get the big one, or not.

No, seriously, they want you to go without eating for 40 days and offer this helpful guide.

Forty days seems like a lot, but – considering the length of a lifetime and in comparison to eternity – it is only a moment in time. The Scriptures record many stories that exemplify how God changed a people and a nation in 40 days.

But there’s like very cool supernatural food.

You may find it difficult to surrender your food to the Lord, and, especially in the beginning, you may first need to fast (surrender) your time. As you grow in the discipline of spending time with the Lord, He will build a desire and a strength that will allow you to set aside your natural food for His completely fulfilling supernatural food.

Damn gays.  Making me eat manna instead of barbeque.

Thanks to Brian for the heads up.

You know how Republicans can’t get along with anyone, especially each other?

Pennsylvania has a GOP Governor and a GOP controlled lege.  They hate each other.

In a campaign commercial earlier this week, Gov. Tom Corbett proclaimed, “I didn’t come to Harrisburg to makes friends.”

The accuracy of that statement was inarguable Thursday as the Republican governor denounced a Legislature controlled by his own party while its leaders lashed back at the embattled incumbent and his inability to turn legislative majorities into policy results. Years of mutual frustration were on display as the governor vetoed funds for the Legislature while state Rep. Mike Turzai, R-Bradford Woods, the House majority leader, accused the governor of playing politics and the Senate’s united leadership issued a joint statement assailing Mr. Corbett’s inability to work with his colleagues.

So, when Governor Corbett signed a budget that he had fricasseed with a line item veto, he also sent a special message to the Lege …

Nice hand signals, Gov.

Thanks to your help, Operation Matthew 25 jumped from it’s original lofty goal of 25 backpack to 50.  Cindy sent pictures.  Click the little ones to see the big ones.

The first arrivals came from Fed Ex.

And then the Post Office sent a truck just for deliveries.  Everything in the truck except the letters is for the backpacks.

Over the past week, Cindy’s house came close to qualifying for a Hoarders episode.

Thank you, Cindy Cole for putting the snowball on top of the hill and giving it a shove.  Thanks to all of you for showing love, compassion, and generosity in a world where it is much needed.  As we say here in Texas, “Good on you!”  Smile all weekend because you’ve earned it.
