Don’t Panic. Bubba Paid the Ransom

November 08, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, I am home from a fabulous evening in Georgetown, Texas, with the Sun City Democrats.  I just flat wore myself out having fun and so I had to stay the night.  Jim Hightower was great and had high praise for the Texas Democratic Party’s new grassroots outreach.

I met an amazing young man running for congress named Louie Minor who reminded me why I am proud to be a Texan.   I also met some Juanita Jean customers who were gracious enough to laugh at my jokes.  Hi guys!

I want to say something.  It was a packed house last night with about 450 people willing to pay $50 each to hear some Democrats with a sense of humor.  We are seeing this resurgence all over the state.  The crowd last night was all over 50, 98% white, had at least $100 burning a hole in their pockets, and mad as hell.  It did my heart good.

TexasEllen gave me a very cool button and a big ole hug.  It was worth the trip!

Now I have 278 emails to open but I hope a least one of them contains something that tickles my fancy just right so I can post about it.

Hey Louie, Before You Get Carried Away….

Louie Gohmert emerges as a guy cruisin’ for a bruisin’ with the FEC.

What he lacks in details, he makes up for in a little goofy.

Thanks to Alfredo over at the Dairy Queen who owns a calendar, keeps it loaded, and knows how to use it.

Fun With Guns. No, Seriously, Real Fun With Guns UPDATED

November 07, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Wanna make a gun nut crazy?

Of course you do.

Buy him a copy of Guns & Ammo Magazine and tell him to Second Amendment that sucker right up his barrel.

Guns & Ammo, “the world’s most widely read firearms magazine,” is under fire from angry readers over a shocking editorial published in the December issue supporting gun control.

“Way too many gun owners still seem to believe that any regulation of the right to keep and bear arms is an infringement,” contributing editor Dick Metcalf wrote in a column titled “Let’s Talk Limits.” “The fact is, all constitutional rights are regulated, always have been, and need to be.”

The whole well-regulated column is here.

You can trot over to their Facebook page and watch their readers have a damn cow.  They argue froth at the mouth that Metcalf should be fired.  Because the Second Amendment trumps the First Amendment, I suppose.

So there you have it – the Second Amendment is a sure-fire cure for the First Amendment.

UPDATE:  I guess I was looking into a crystal ball when I wrote that last sentence.  Metcalf was fired today.

Thanks to Mike for the heads up.

Pistol Pete Shoots Off His Mouth Again

November 06, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

You guys remember Texas Congressvarmint Pistol Pete Sessions who said did not say that he couldn’t stand to look at President Obama?

Well, he’s got another doozy.

He’s chairman of the House Rules Committee.  But when asked about his job, he reminded us all what he really wants to accomplish.

PeteSessions“Everything we do in this body should be about messaging to win back the Senate,” Sessions said. “That’s it. If you don’t want Benghazis to happen or you want an investigation for Benghazi, if you want an investigation on the IRS as opposed to the excuses that [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid [D-Nev.] is all about, if you do not like what’s happening at the [National Security Agency], then you gain the Senate.”

Holy crap.

Screw America – Republicans want the Senate.

I guess they’ve given up on ever getting the presidency again.

Sessions is as worthless as a four card flush.

Thanks to Brian C for the heads up.

Just For The Record

If I was ever asked to sit down and make a list of the creepiest people I know (and I cannot imagine why I haven’t ever been asked), Dick Morris would make that list.

Screen Shot 2013-11-06 at 11.30.15 AMSeriously, he’s just a shiver looking for a spine to run up.

When he is on teevee, I literally have to shield my eyes from the glow of sinister.

I would bet cash American money that I am not the only person who feels that way but if I am, it ain’t me, it’s him.

So, when he wrote an editorial today about Obamacare, I gagged a little on this line.

ObamaCare will fade into oblivion as a token program.

All I could think is, “No, Honey, that would be YOU.”

And that is when I decided that ObamaCare will work and it will succeed because if Dick Morris is against you, the angels are with you.

Thanks to Jane for the heads up.

Fun With Guns: Prosecutor Edition

November 06, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

McLennan County, Texas.  (That’s Waco)

First Assistant District Attorney Michael Jarrett said he asked fellow prosecutor Landon Ramsay if he could see Ramsay’s new Glock .40-caliber pistol about 2 p.m. Monday.

Now you know right there that this ain’t going in the right diection.  Guns are not boy toys.

Screen Shot 2013-11-05 at 5.37.14 PMJarrett says he asked if the gun was loaded and was told it was not.  He claims he pulled back the slide and didn’t see a round in the chamber.  So he aimed the gun out the window …

“I was being extremely safe,” Jarrett said. “I inspected the gun even after I was told it was not loaded, but it was just an unfortunate accident.”

… and shot the building across the street.  Killed the damn thing.  Or at least scared he crap out of it.  It was a vacant building so it was probably suicidal anyway.

The DA says his prosecutors will still be allowed to carry weapons because a disturbed Justice of the Peace in Kaufmann County killed a DA and his wife.

Thanks to Linda for the heads up.
