A mom in Iowa, who works in a gun store, has decided to teach a class on how to wear a gun while also wearing a baby.

What could possibly go wrong?

I’ve coslept with my babies, I’ve been wearing my babies, I’ve loved them, and I’ve worn a gun the whole time.

Melody Lauer wants to teach you how to do that.  Why would you possibly want to do that?

“The idea for the class came out of hearing about the kid in Idaho who shot his mom recently. That touched me in a very deep way because my daughter was 2 at the time,” Lauer, 30, with kids ages nine months, 3, and 6, tells Yahoo Parenting. “I thought, there’s no reason this should happen. We are adults and can be responsible.”

So she wants to shoot her kid before the kid shoots her?

You know, call me unprepared for child rearing but I think the solution is not the have a stinkin’ gun laying around for your kids to find.  The OK Corral idea might work, too.  I dunno.

  1. What kind of dangerous place does she live, where you can’t put down the gun for even a minute?

    1
  2. So she co-sleeps with her babies while wearing a gun? Who wears a gun while they sleep? I’m with Cheryl, where does she live? I think it is time to consider a move or perhaps serious therapy if you are afraid to even sleep unarmed.

Who is going to be surprised when someone in that house ends up dead from a gunshot wound.

    2
  3. Why is she so afraid that she thinks she needs to wear a gun the whole time? Does she have a protective order out on some man or men? I know how useless those things are because I’ve read about women who were killed anyway, but I’m not sure that having a loaded gun within inches of your children every second is the answer.

At least she isn’t holding that gun with her finger on the trigger, so she has a couple of brain cells anyway.

  4. Her “inspiration” for teaching people to wear guns while sleeping with and holding babies indicates that she is willing to kill a child. Children’s Services needs to move in ASAP.

    4
  5. If she wears the gun and a kid doesn’t that mean that at some points the kid could reach the gun? Or does she wear one front and one back? One high and one low?

    5
  6. This is a way too serious case of I’ve just got to be the center of attention at all times no matter what the results. Cue the net throwers. Bye bye kiddo.

  7. OK. We all can’t be theoretical physicists, but clearly the minimum measurable intellect for handgun ownership is set way too low.

Wingnut abortion. Let Colonel Colt have the honors.

She is typical of “Cantaloupe Calves” King voters. Apparently children don’t have constitutional protection from morons with guns.

  10. Corinne Sabo says:

Does it include how to shoot the kid?

The photo of her IS interesting, design-wise. But she needs another icon.

Danged if it don’t look like the hammer is in full cock position. Wonder what she is fixing to shoot since you aren’t supposed to point it at something unless you plan to pull the trigger.

  13. Marge Wood says:

Truly, I cannot imagine wearing a gun ever but especially not while trying to sleep and ESPECIALLY not while cuddled up to a baby. Maybe we got the wrong image. Maybe she’s in a pit with a bunch of soldiers. You reckon? Protecting iittle babies. I bet that’s it. i keep hunting in that picture for signs of a deep ditch in dirt. Nope. Not there.

Clearly Iowa is a lot more violent than we ever imagined. She’s definitely cocked and locked. Probly thinks she’s ready to rock!

And there was a drive-by shooting in Des Moines a couple months back I think I read about then.

    this is just stupid!
I don’t know that particular gun she’s holding but it does appear to be cocked.

iowans have changed since I was a young pup. Back in my day we used to sleep with a bale of hay to feed our nightmares.

Once I had a gun and a baby
we played hard and we was bored
so the three of us decided to nap
now my baby has gone to the lord

    See,while snoozing I had me a nightmare
I dreamt I was being attacked
I grabbed for my gun and it fired
that’s one bullet I wish I had back

She sleeps with a gun? Who else is in her house? A baby and a gun in the same bed, what could go wrong??

“Co-slept”? Is this her attempt at being modern or politically correct (a million fantasy universes away)? Do they also co-cook and co-eat, and best of all: co-procreate? I have a clipping from a magazine somewhere in which a pro-gun woman was extolling the virtues of her favorite weapon as her “house gun”. I don’t know if it matches her house-bedspread or not. Stop the insanity.
