Wait a Minute! Wait a Minute! Wait Just A Damn Minute!

Vice President Joe Biden is riled up and filled with piss and vinegar over the treasonous letter that 47 senators sent to Iran.

The senator’s letter, in the guise of a constitutional lesson, ignores two centuries of precedent and threatens to undermine the ability of any future American President, whether Democrat or Republican, to negotiate with other nations on behalf of the United States. Honorable people can disagree over policy. But this is no way to make America safer or stronger…

And that’s just the beginning of Joe’s anger and disbelief at the dangerous behavior of senate Republicans.

And what was the GOP response to Biden’s comments?

So people with military service can undermine the United States and get a pass?

Jindal, I didn’t see you defending Tammy Duckworth when she was under assault from your party.  How about John Kerry?  How about hundreds of other Democrats who served?  They don’t get a pass.

Jindal, you’re an idiot.  But Cotton, well Honey, he’s dangerous.  He’s demanding a war.

Be social and share!

  1. Google the Logan Act. Its a revelation. Started way back when John Adams was President. Somebody named Logan went to France and poked his civilian ungovernmental nose into what was happening between France and the rest of the world, including the new U.S. The Adams administration was already trying to handle such stuff like a real grown up government and did not at all appreciate what this free ranger was trying to do. Flat out and to quote “the Act was intended to prohibit unauthorized United States citizens from interfering in relations between the United States and foreign government.” This legislation did not originate from the desk of John Adams but from the Federalist section of the current sitting Congress. Got that? Here’s more: Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government for any office or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agen thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be find under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.” Nuff said?

The DOJ should be on them like flies on meat, but…nothing.

  3. I haven’t read the law but I suspect the Logan Act doesn’t apply to citizens that happen to be Congressmen because those folks have meddled quite a bit. This just happens to be a particularly egregious example.

  4. Biden’s son is in the service…don’t think Jindal ever was.

  5. You knew it was bound to happen. “It’s all Obama’s fault.”

The Day Care Kids are now running the U.S. Congress. The people who DID NOT VOTE…. and the people who did vote… have turned Congress over to a bunch adults who have the mentality of (3) year old kids.

Attention Voters: Senators Cotton, Cruz et al. are what happens when poor states in the South…. continue to cut funding for education. Ignorance begets ignorance alll the way to the halls of Congress.

One fact the Republicans do not like and choose to ignore is the Logan Act. However, while we might excuse Piyush Jindal for being ignorant of the UCMJ, what is the excuse for Tehran Tommy? As a 60 day wonder boy, Tom might not be familiar with the Logan Act. But as a captain in the US Army, he sure should have familiarized himself with the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Tehran Tom is a three fold loser, if this is what Harvard Law produced, aided by the code of conduct for the US military and voted into office by third world redneck rubes.

Now Arkansas wants to amend their state constitution so Tommy can simultaneously remain in the US Senate and run for president. Arkansas, puh-leeze. Just puh-leeze, bitches.

  7. OK, found this under Tom Cotton’s wikipedia entry

In June 2006, Cotton gained public attention after he wrote an open letter to The New York Times criticizing the paper’s publication of an article detailing a Bush administration secret program monitoring terrorists’ finances in which he called for three journalists, including the Times’ editor, Bill Keller, to be imprisoned for espionage.[9] The article was widely circulated online and reprinted in full in several newspapers.[10]

    hmmm….

  9. That New York newspaper who headlined the ringleaders as Traitors may do the trick more than the Logan Act

    9
  10. two ongoing wars started by bush et al aren’t enough, we need a third with a much bigger bunch.

    10
  11. what’s this “bobby” bit ? i think its time to hear about piyush after we kept hearing about barrak HUSSEIN obama

    11
  12. Maggie, what makes this especially interesting is that the New York Daily News is a right-wing newspaper.

  13. There’s been only one indictment under the Logan Act. It’s important to point out that Speaker Wright once negotiated against Reagan’s wishes and contrary to his policy goals back in 1987. Pelosi did the same in Syria in 2007. So, while it is fair to point out that Democrats have occasionally done this, it is also important to point out that the right wing media made a field day of arguing that if you were against the Bush administration (or Reagan administration) you were thoroughly anti-American. I suppose that is a reasonable argument if you are big on respecting the office of the president. Yet, what is good for the goose is also good for the gander.

  14. @PKM
Oh you’ve heard the jokie aboot Army captains. One colonels says to another “I’ll trade you a couple of captains for a good running Jeep.” When the second colonel hesitates, the first says, “He** take ’em now, you can owe me the Jeep.”

Micr, Tehran Tom was also qualified airborne & ranger. Airborne rangers fall from the sky with training, while birds drop their loads naturally. Or, what are the two things that fall out of the sky: bird cr@p and airborne rangers.

Having had my butt tossed out of a few perfectly good airplanes, feeling my good luck for not having landed on my head like Tom. But I sure don’t feel any captain to captain comradery toward the guy. His total disrespect for the office of the US President and his complete amnesia of the UCMJ makes me hope his period of inactive reserve is still in effect.

Dude needs to be reactivated, then court martialed.

    15
  16. @PKM
    Welllll
Both my brother in law and father in law made their short army careers lively by routinely voluntarily exiting still functional aircraft as well. Well done I say.

So if you give me a few minutes at home I can get my inherited copy MCM, turn to an appropriate page, and we can begin. Bring in the prisoner!

    Well, y’all said it all.

  20. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Micr, if you cannot locate your copy of the MCM, not to worry. Republicants aren’t big on the rule of law, so it would probably be OK with them to skip straight to the penalty phase. Lock & load!

  21. Vice President Biden owes no apology to anyone. See, telling the truth does not obligate one to offer an apology. Obviously most repubs are not aware of that.

Li’l Piyush is soooo desperate for relevance, and since he is term limited, he has the shelf life of a clawless, clueless crawdad.

The funny thing is, if he dropped the whole blood-and-guts schtick and followed his own advice, he could be the real maverick among the party of stupids.
