Zoom! Zoom!

Okay y’all, it appears that Texas Senator John Cornyn has purchased himself an automobile with his campaign donations.

Take a lookie here:

And here:

See them all right here.

The guy has to have his PACs buy him a car?  Or the little ole ladies sending him $5 from their social security because he sends them a letter telling them that he’s the only thing standing between them and rancid pot-smoking naked liberal communistic socialism.

You know who’s gonna be really upset about this?  Texas Congressman Roger Williams, who owns a couple of car dealerships. So when Cornyn says to buy local, he doesn’t.

Be social and share!

  2. Knowing the G.O.P.’s obsession with fiscal frugality, that Ford’s gotta be something like a Fusion or Escape.
But if the best car note they could get was $743.60, then somebody needs to check out Credit Karma.

I guess anything is legal with money from PACs. If someone outside of politics got free money to buy a car, they’d have to claim it as income. What’s next, a private jet? Keep the heat on him, JJ.

Well y’all, give good ol’ Cornyn a little credit for buying or maybe leasing an American vehicle.
Lincoln today only makes four SUV marques [Navigator, Aviator, Nautilus, Corsair], they no longer produce “cars”.
Three of those are produced in the USA, one in Ontario [Wayne, Mi; Chicago, Il; Oakville, On; Louisville, Ky]. They’re all nice vehicles, the Aviator and Corsair have a PHEV version, and the rest will probably follow.
At that payment level I’d guess ol’ JC is tooling around in the big ol’ giant Navigator model [like a Ford Expedition and GM Suburban, only bigger and better].

As far as paying for it with campaign funds, that sucks, is shady as hell. But that’s what Rethugs do, ain’t it? Led by their new savior the Rufous Ratbastard.

  5. All of my life, until about 18 years ago, I was 100% NON political. Due do a serious of unrelated events I started paying attention and was fortunate enough to be exposed to some very informative, honest and fair Liberal blogs (Thanks JJ!). I had the unique understanding of being completely non judgemental and quickly understood the difference between Republican and Democrat … and have obviously sided with Liberalism.

But take away politics and people are basically good at heart so how can Republicans keep the support of everyday people???? They LIE and BLAME the Democrats.

Do I have this right? Cornyn bought/leased a new Lincoln on July 7, 2021 (OK, no big deal). Then he bought new tires for the Lincoln the same day. (Huh? new tires for a new car?) Then he began making payments on that car eight days later? Damn! Last time I bought a car, the finance people at least gave me a month before the first payment was due. Heck, the bill didn’t even come in in eight days.

That doesn’t pass the smell test at my house.

Pure speculation here … but I know some campaign managers who negotiate a “campaign vehicle” as part of their compensation package. Have anything indicating the vehicle is actually serving Cornyn and not someone else in his political campaign organization?

And Bob Boland … there is nothing in most reporting which would indicate what vehicle was getting new tires or other services. If my vehicle costs were shown, I would have a brand new lease followed 10 days or so later by a more than trivial maintenance bill — that doesn’t mean I took my leased vehicle for service, necessarily – in fact, it meant I have two cars I’m supporting.

  8. Bob Boland @6, (Huh? new tires for a new car?)—
Most people don’t change tires on a new vehicle, but I’ve known lots of car and trucknutz down here in STx that would get a new vehicle and then immediately buy a new set of ‘racing’ or offroad type tires to suit their fancies [more $ than brains, imo]. So it happens.
