You Know What Makes Me Go “Grrrrr…..”

Politico, that’s what.

I’m fixing to take it off my bookmark list because every time I go there, it looks just like Fox News with less clutter and blinking lights.

Take, for example, today.  This is their headline story.

I am pretty damn certain that when President Obama started looking for a new Secretary of Defense, his first consideration was not, “Oh, gee, how can I poke George W. Bush with a pointy stick?”

George W. Bush does not need any help at all in his quest to be forgotten and snubbed.

Goodness sake, what level of Republican narcissism does it take to think that everything President Obama does is designed to make George W. Bush look bad?  You gotta be off the meter and the meds, Honey.

Look, if Republicans wanted to name to name the Presidential cabinet, they should have won the election.  It’s just that simple.

And then, to make sure I never come back to their website, they put this on the electric internet machine.

Seriously, guys?

You think he’s picking fights?

In most quarters, that’s called “governing” by the party in power.

I know you think he’s supposed to lay down and let John Boehner tap dance on his belt buckle but, listen carefully now, YOU LOST THE ELECTION, dammit.

Already I didn’t like Politico because they have a crush on Rick Perry.  A silly little crush like a schoolgirl.   They just drool and skip around the room when his name is mentioned.

Grrrrrr …..

Be social and share!

I get irked by Politico on a regular basis. I’m gonna take them off my bookmarks because I’m too old and cranky to put up with such history deficient writers.

I remember Ike, myownself, and I remember my grandparents talking about Hoover, Wilson, both Roosevelts and the blessed Harry Truman. I watched the Watergate hearings gavel to gavel. I got to vote for the first time choosing between JFK and Nixon.

  2. Typical Angry Old White Guy mindset – the world revolves around them.

  3. That’s the way of the media today…..The Repubs are so busy trying to make the President look bad, they just assume that the Dems and the President play by the same rules. Their projection again…
And it all looks to darn childish.

…not that there’s anything wrong with poking W. with a stick.

  6. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the Republican Party COMPLETELY SNUB Dubya by not inviting him to their convention? They went out of their way to make sure his name was not mentioned. All of a sudden they care about his opinion on this nominee? Please. Politico is scraping the barrell for this one.

  7. There is a reason most of the comments on Politico articles are from Repugs; most of the articles are written from a Repug point of view and read by mostly Repugs. Occasionally Politico acts as if it wants to be unbiased, but rarely reaches that level.

It’s doubtful the President spends any time considering what Bush, the lesser, will think about a cabinet nominee or any other decision he makes.

  8. Bush who???

  9. Reading Politico is only a babystep above reading NewsMax….

  10. Our President has only to breathe to make Gee Duh-bya look bad. The only thing at which Gee Duh-bya is competent is incompetence. At that he excels.

  11. I live in the DC area. I can pick up the Politico for free. I prefer the City Paper, it has actual local political news. Politico, Tucker Carlson’s rag, the Washington Moonie Times/Examiner, are suitable parakeet cage liners. If only I owned a parakeet!

The Washington Post (non testing prep division) is trying to maintain its exclusive social standing in a city, with an administration and opposition, who really don’t care for them, think they sell out to the highest bidder or whoever can give them a free drink or the best appetizers.

Of course any Washington Post op-Ed writer or columnist would roll over and show his belly for a chance at the table scraps. A Politico writer would beat them to the choicest and rankest, even if they have to eat a little doggie poo, to get at them.

Tucker’s ‘Clansman’ has standards, mighty white glove standards. And the Moonie Times or its successors? Each writer has to eat a live toad a day to demonstrate they are off balance enough to work ther.

Even if everything he does makes Bush look bad (hey, just sayin’) doesn’t mean he is doin’ it just to make shrub look bad. I mean, it could be a side-effect.

  13. Yo, Cliff! Adams Morgan resident here. I know exactly what you mean. I have never had any use for the “Moonie” paper and the Examiner is available for free. (Disclosure: I print out their crossword puzzle every day because it is the best, by far, of all of them. I just don’t bother with their news or editorial dreck, since it is the usual Right Wing Nut-Job spewing of alternate reality; i.e., Bizzaarro World.) I have never understood why the Post insists on giving space to Will, Krauthammer, Gershon, etc., not mention Kissinger. They do, however, print exquisite letters pointing out exactly how wrong those folks are.

Politico has never crossed my radar–except when they report something that catches the attention of the folks I actually read. It struck me as just another “cutting edge” site which wanted to be considered a Beltway Insider. As if.

  14. Choosing Hagel is not a snub to Dubya. It is a snub to Dubya’s appalling policy of preemptive strikes.

    15
  15. Would have given everything to see Will’s clothes spread out over the lawn, when the Mrs. Kicked him out.

I guess Barbindc comes here for the same reason I do, it’s like the cherry on the sundae of political crazy.

  16. Cheryl Ann says:

The only reason I go to Politico is because that is about as close as I can stand to be to the right. I sometimes want to see how their little brains are skewing a topic and I can’t quite bring myself to go all the way across to the dark side. Even then, once a month or so is enough.

    17
  17. Here’s an idea: Obama should nominate GW for Defense Secretary! (Seems to be the only decision that would make Politico boys happy.)

    18
  18. Karla Furr says:

I got in an argument with a friend about two years ago, when said friend sent me an article from Politico, and I replied that I wasn’t going to read it because Politico was a rightwing rag that I didn’t bother with. I see their reporters FAR more than I want to,on MSNBC,and I am well aware of what angle they are boosting. They are charter members of the “both sides do it” club, and they make me sick with their attempts at proof for this thesis.

    19
  19. @JoyfulA, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Just think of the expense of changing ALL the DOD pre-printed paperwork to DOW – Department of War – since Dubya’s only suited to be Secretary of War NOT Secretary of Defense!

Actually, he’s not suited to be Secretary of anything, unless it would be a new department…Department of Dumbness, but I just had to get the joke in.

  20. Barbara Landis says:

Can’t remember where I read it, but someone recently (last month or so) described Politico as ‘Tiger Beat On The Potomac.’
