Yeah, Yeah, I’m Old
I screwed up and scheduled Toons to be published on Thursday instead of Friday. So, now I fixed it and it’ll be up tomorrow. In case you got here before I did and already saw it, you are old, too, and by tomorrow you’ll forget you ever saw it.
So, I’m not worried.
Wait, what was I talking about and why am I standing in the kitchen?
I did see, am likely older than you, and will most likely forget by tomorrow morning.
1why am I standing in the kitchen? hahaha that happens to me more times than I’d like to admit.
As long as I finish cooking, dinner is hot, and on the table by 4 PM, I don’t care what day it is.
2This morning I told a colleague I’d get to a Thursday task ‘tomorrow as usual’. 30 min ago I realized thurs is today…….
3I’m the one who pointed it out, and sent her an additional one she will add to the group.
4🙂
I hear ya, Sister! I have to think about it several times to figure out what day it actually is. Must be getting old, is all I can say.
5It’s those damn doorways. Somehow they have the ability to wipe your memory as you pass through them.
I store extra paper towels in bulk in a guest bedroom closet. Took me 5 trips Monday to get a roll for the kitchen, along with four events wherein I find myself in the guest bedroom thinking “what the he77 am I doing in here?????”
6Micr, I have a trick to avoid that doorway memory wiping thing. It makes me sound strange but wth. If I have to go into the other room to fetch something, I say the thing out loud as I go. For example, paper towels paper towels paper towels paper towels paper towels… Until I’m in the room looking at them. This usually works!
7@Nancy
I use that trick, when I can think of it, as well. That’s why the paper towel roll was retrieved on the fifth try rather than the seventh or tenth. Some days I wish I’d died as a child.
8Whew! I thought I was experiencing Groundhog Day all over again.
9Micr, Nancy – another reason I can’t miss my daily visit here. Thanks for the chuckle.
10Will forget I ever saw what? And why am I holding all these paper towels?
11I looked, saw the cartoons and had to look at my watch to make sure I didn’t miss a day! They were good, but I will have to look again tomorrow to remember what I saw today.
12sounds like you are describing the mueller investigation.
If he hasn’t got enough to prosecute the thugs by now he hasn’t been trying.
But he would rather watch the country burn and its judiciary gutted rather then eek justice before he gold plates everything.
After all those old powerful rich guys have to watch each others backs.
I am sorry I fear mueller is just reincarnation of the abortive Frist investigation or the one that decided that even though meese had violated the law as AG in the normal course of events meese, as another rich old white guy, would not have had such an intensive investigation his crimes would not have been discovered so he would not have been prosecuted so he decided to leave a criminal as AG rather then prosecute a criminal.
Now we have mueller dilly dallying while demented donnie is wreaking havoc on the world, the country and the constitition because after all rich powerful men need to receive all the possible deference and accomadation as is possible, legal or not.
All this because comey just had to show a Black woman she could not give him orders no matter what the law said whether she was AG or not. didn’t Lynch realize that a paid in full member of the WASP aristacrcy had more authority then she no matter what the law said.
So comey rather then reining in his own organization and busting some of his agents who were leaking to guillani decided to use this oppurtunity to put Lynch and Hillary in their places.
It is all kabuki. Delusions of justice and fantasies of law that in the end will only reinforce the power of the powerful and disparage their victims.
13just like roman bread and circuses
Us old guys, the mind is the second thing that goes.
14I dunno; the comments were funny enough today to have made me forget the toons if I had seen them.
paper towels paper towels paper towels….
15luv the shop. post like there is no tomorrow.
16Ya’ll are like the finest wine, properly aged!
17Wait, it’s not Saturday today??????
OMG–I have to update my calendar!
18Well, I’m usually a day late and a dollar short to the shop anyway so I missed them. Will be happy to see them tomorrow morning.
19Not much troubled by the ‘why am I in here?’ thing….yet. But have always been bad with names, even when I was barely twenty. Had lunch with a professional colleague today, we both knew exactly which guy we were talking about but couldn’t come up with his name. A few minutes later I remembered his first name. She’s Generation Y, probably fifteen, sixteen years younger. I win! Still all pleased with my own self about it.
K @ 13 Unfortunately, my husband and I totally agree with you. Mueller is a Republican, which possibly means PARTY is first priority and Country only comes in second. It is kinda heartbreaking to read the comments on sites such as Daily Kos, where the commenters parse out each little daily happening in the Mueller sphere and how it all fits into the case he is building against Trump. The faith these people still have in the man and his ability to “save us” while we all watch the Trump administration dismantling our country brick by brick, Trump’s every move actually benefitting Vladimir Putin’s agenda and not ours, is so very sad.
20So Mueller will eventually present his report, which most likely will not even mention Trumputin’s treachery and conspiracy with Russia, to the Attorney General. It’ll contain charges of bank fraud, tax fraud, unpaid library fines and dietary indiscretions, but nothing to put him behind bars for the rest of his miserable life. No, no, we can’t have a very wealthy white man put in the penitentiary. Why that would just be unthinkable, even though he brought down this entire country!
Re. Comey – agree with you 100%. He did nothing to stop the leaks to Rudy’s boys in the New York FBI office, known to be very anti-Hillary. His re-opening of the investigation of Hillary’s emails at the last minute was a shot straight thru the heart for her candidacy. We can thank him for assuring Trumputin won that illegitimate election. I do not have one iota of sympathy or respect for the man.
I saw the cartoons and had to check on my tablet to see that it was Thurs. Instead of Fri.
21Had to laugh because I had to check to see what day it was.
Isn’t retirement wonderful?????
Whether it is just being overly meticulous but if mueller takes any more time he will be assured that somewhere in the proceedings he will encounter one of demented Donnie’s black robed protectors that the thuglican are railroading through and his investigation will suffer the same fate as the John Doe investigation when Koch’s homoculus gov. Walker,s judicial protectors not only killed the investigation but also ordered the destruction of all the evidence.
22Even if he makes it to the dishonorable scotus the bought minions will burn the constitution to protect their master and owner
Mueller is the real deal. He has over a dozen convictions or confessions already of people close to Trump’s White House or campaign. That’s not counting the dozen or so Russians already convicted. He has done this before. He investigated the Lockerbie plane bombing, Noriega (fraught with Republican evil and foolishness, yes, but that wasn’t his choice, he was just the investigator). He got John Gotti put away, for Pete’s sake. Gotti was actually tough, not just mean, and actually smart.
And I’m sure he’s been sharing evidence – or has dead man switches which will share – with Virginia and New York states, perhaps others. If there is major sabotage from the GOP, the major players will still face state charges.
The real mobsters in all this, the Russians, will betray their US useful idiots in a New York minute if it is expedient or simply amuses them.
23Love ya, Juanita Jean

25Yeah and a lot of people thought that Nader was the real deal to after all he had beaten GM and other powerful orgs until he decided to help the twit seize the wh
Or lierman who actually was a VP choice until he sold his soul to thuglican
Or Frist who totally tanked the Plume investigation
Or so many others who when faced with a choice between their status, and by extension their “equals” decide that with a little foot dragging and they can both enhance their reputation without doing any real harm to their class.
I am not denying that he may be doing a good “ technical” job but while he is gilding the lily the country is being destroyed and the judiciary is getting filled ( 44 more shills moved to senate floor for partisan appointments to the bench just yesterday) with owned hacks putting a for sale sign on the US benches.
If he doesn’t have enough for indictment and conviction by now he hasn’t been trying. Waiting until there are more black robed minions of the demented one on the bench does no one any good.
But like Frist I fear mueller will find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of of justice
I bought some of those Skechers Memory Foam shoes to help me remember why I walk into a room. I figure that is what they are for, right?
26JJ et al –
It’s all okay, as long as the kitchen we find ourselves standing in is our own.
If not, time to start worrying.
