Yeah, Real Sorry
Tarrant County (think Fort Worth) Republicans decided it would be a fun thing to march in the MLK parade. So, they all got together, somebody picked up the sign, most of them found something red to wear, and off they went to … be real cute and flash the OK sign for a group picture. On MLK day. On film. On Facebook. In the newspaper.
The GOP group apologized and acknowledged it was an inappropriate gesture for the setting.
“For the setting?” But, yeah, it’s real okay any other time.
Okay, here’s the Republican rules: the white power sign must be holstered on MLK Day.
I’m sick of heavy sighing.
1Looks like a pretty sorry crowd to me…
2no doubt they all just felt awful about it.
3In their defense, at least they didn’t say “hold my beer” before indulging themselves in a bath of st00pidity. Or, did they? They’d show up at a bar mitzvah bearing a canned ham, not even a fancy spiral cut smokehouse special. Don’t even want to think what they’d take to a quinceañera.

5Flashing the white power sign or flying the confederate battle flag is a little like pulling out your penis in public. The only ones who are impressed are the ones with even smaller penises. The rest of us just look away.
6I went and read the Star-Telegram opinion piece.
I note they tried to both-siderise this with:
4chan specifically promoted this as a way to promote white supremacy.
Fascism has always existed on secret language and symbology, often disguised as something innocuous, to promote its agenda and identify its members.
7This racist criminal gang needs to go the way of the Whigs.
8What I would have given to have seen some of the former legends of hell’s half acre rise from the dead, ride down Main Street, and horse whip the bejeezus out of these trolls. Cowtown has a lot going for it which is why I still choose to live here, but this just kicked my gag reflex into hyperdrive. Not a lot of difference between this mentality and that of the white supremacists who came to power in Germany back in the day. The upside of such a confederacy of dunces march is that it can energize those of us who are continuing to register voters and remaining vigilant until that day in November when hopefully something resembling a democracy can once again be brought forth.
