Yeah, But Bill Barr Disagrees

May 06, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Trump would have been indicted for obstruction of justice in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation if he wasn’t president, more than 370 former federal prosecutors argued in an open letter publish on Medium on Monday.

Take a look.

Not just one indictment, but several.

The Mueller report describes several acts that satisfy all of the elements for an obstruction charge: conduct that obstructed or attempted to obstruct the truth-finding process, as to which the evidence of corrupt intent and connection to pending proceedings is overwhelming. These include:

· The President’s efforts to fire Mueller and to falsify evidence about that effort;

· The President’s efforts to limit the scope of Mueller’s investigation to exclude his conduct; and

· The President’s efforts to prevent witnesses from cooperating with investigators probing him and his campaign.

Since it was posted this afternoon, more have signed and it’s up to 418.

I think we should elect a few of these guys to Congress.

I am impressed with the years of service these men and women have. If you have a legal problem, you want an opinion from an experienced attorney. I wish our Congress and Senate would take the opinion expressed in their letter.

So, isn’t Barr also guilty of obstruction? What I’ve heard is that Mueller wasn’t done, and Barr stopped the investigation.

The same web site, Protect Democracy, on which
the Federal Prosecutors (= 400) have signed has updates on other issues that are under the radar news worthy. Arpaio’s pardon is being contested by some serious heavy hitters in the legal field on April 30th.

From olden days’ vague memory is that a convicted person had to publicly confess to their crime in order to qualify for a Presidential Pardon. Arpaio has not done so. Manafort is behind bars still awaiting his reward for refusing to confess crimes, etc. This legal filing is truly magnificent.

I suppose if a tax evasion charge worked well in the past, some creative inspiration in a certain branch of govt. might have a puncher’s chance. Certainly with Barr’s honesty fig leaf having fallen to the floor of the Senate.

    Go ahead Mr.G-man, impeach me!

  6. The question in front of us now, as it was before, how do we best bet did of this SOB, and his administration, as well as limit damages to our nation? Is it worth it to allow him to seek sanctuary in, well, how about Yemen, to get rid of him?

What recovery of America should we trade for Trump’s punishment for his crimes?

Rachel Maddow cited 500 signers as of 9 pm Eastern time this evening. I’d love to see Barr shamed into resigning, but his being impeached would be quite gratifying, too. According to legal minds I respect, Laurence Tribe among them, Barr’s legal opinions are garbage, and he has lied multiple times to the House of Representatives.

I got nothin’! That 45 has survived this far is testament to the sorry State of our Union. Pelosi is lodged in the politics of the 70s and needs a swift kick in the donkey. The release of the latest UN species extinction report makes me glad I have no children to apologize to for the destruction of their, and our, future habitat. Earth will survive after it kills off the Cancer that is Humanity. Sad.

5 ideological hacks on the supreme court.

A civilized country would be well into a general strike by now.

there is nothing legally preventing the arrest/indictment/trial of the president, it’s simply a self-imposed restriction, created out of whole cloth by the DOJ. it’s merely a policy, with no binding authority supporting it. if it was challenged, it wouldn’t survive judicial scrutiny, at least not with an actual independent bench. with this SC however, the odds are stacked in Trump’s favor.

  13. Rick Stelter says:

I wish that Nancy would stop playing politics with her position. This is clearly a case for impeachment. She has spent too much time playing the politics of the possible, that’s mostly why we have crisis of immigration, medical care and why the middle class is dying. She continues to never risk losing and therefore we citizens lose, every time.

  14. K @ 11,

Jmo, if the US was more like France, we would be in a national, general strike right now. But the American public is way too polarized for their own good and too apathetic.
