Y’all, I Agree It’s Hard to Tell

February 12, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

It really happened and it wasn’t a joke.

In a statement posted on its website, the Dominican newspaper said a photo of Baldwin imitating Trump – over the caption “Donald Trump, president of the USA” – was published on page 19 and the mistake went unnoticed by the newspaper’s staff.

“El Nacional apologizes to its readers and anyone who felt affect by the publication” of the photo, the statement said.

Baldwin is more Trump than Trump is.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

  1. Ha! Life imitates art.

  2. If only there were a way to replace the real Trump with the Baldwin Trump, at this point even some Republicans would note an improvement…

  3. Not having been to the Dominican Republic, I can only assume that the quality of their wacky tobacky is purty high. I’ve often thought, when reading a story from the Onion, that the writers were sitting around in a fog, trying to hold each hit as long as possible, one-upping each other on their ridiculously absurd ideas. And now? The rest of the world has a lot of catching up to do. When the source material is already so outrageously a caricature of anything resembling a serious administration, folks have to dig deep. A little reefer’s no surprise. I can only imagine what what’s going on in SNL’s writer’s room. QVC chyrons, sparkly high heels, motorized podiums, and fatal attractions? Sweet!

  4. Just proves 1984 was right. In some lights it’s difficult to tell the pigs from the humans.

  5. Laughing too hard to comment.

  6. I really, really hope this gets Baldwin the biggest damn Emmy on the planet!!!

  8. I didn’t notice the mistake until I read the text. I can’t stand looking at Trump but Alec Baldwin doing Trump is pretty funny, so when I picture Trump I’m probably seeing Baldwin anyway.

You folks saw the pre-election episode when he dropped character and went from Trump to Baldwin? The change was remarkable– what a good actor can do with expression, stance, and mannerisms.

Remember when Tina Fey was more real than Palin? Oops. Allow me to rephrase that, please. Tina Fey will always be more real then Palin. Alec Baldwin, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and the cast of SNL are more real than Donnie’s crew of deplorable.

@KellyannePolls Did Donnie enjoy the SNL show as much as we did last night?

The line from SNL last night: ” “Let me just say. You’re doing too much. I want one day without a CNN alert that scares the hell out of me,” from the “People’s Court” skit judge.

  10. Off topic, mostly, but you might find it interesting:
Airing on the TV this afternoon at 4:30PM CST is a very interesting older movie.
It is kind of prescient and revealing of our present day divides. It was written to cover some events that actually happened down here on the Texas Gulf Coast (JJ may remember, I do, was there, but didn’t pay much attention).

It’s about the sometimes violent conflicts between our local redneck shrimpers and fishermen and the Vietnamese refugees who moved here and began competing with them. My homeport was one of the ‘ground zeroes’ of this mini-war, and the movie did lots of filming there.

    The movie is “Alamo Bay”.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alamo_Bay

It airs on the GetTV network. GetTV is one of those independent networks and how you receive it you’ll have to look it up. I get it on OverTheAir (OTA), free, broadcast TV with an antenna. Locally, it’s carried on a Spanish station subchannel (but it’s all English on their two subchannels, ch41-2 in the San Antonio area; it will be different elsewhere.

“Alamo Bay” isn’t that good of a movie (per critics), plotwise, but it’s complete with sheeted and armed KKK yahoos on shrimp boats too.
It was largely filmed around Rockport, TX, Fulton, Port Lavaca, maybe Corpus; so it has interesting local scenery, of a few decades ago.
Give it a watch (make mine a Breitling ;] )…

BTW, today some of the fanciest shrimp boats down here are Vietnamese owned.

Any of y’all watch, report back, ‘ta ‘ueno.

Andy Borowitz knows how to distinguish between Alec Baldwin and little fingers 45:

  12. @4 Micr: I think that vignette was from “Animal Farm”, and yeah, you’re correct.

I think it is fair to note that what people *see* of 45 is what they will remember. And if they’ve been seeing Baldwin’s brilliance more that 45’s falterings, there ya go. And best of all, you *know* this is burning 45’s tushy to be able to respond, when all he can do is take it (if he’s smart).

I must say, the writers and *fabricators* that came up with “Spicy’s podium” were just brilliant in set up and execution of the gag. Wonderful!!!

  13. OMG! I truly did not see the problem until JJ pointed it out!

You are sooo right. Please accept my apology, old age has weakened my mental facultes.
