Would The Last Republican Out Please Leave The Lights On
Okay, if you’re keeping score at home, add Charlie Dent.
Last September Dent said he was not going to seek re-election but would finish his current term.
Nope.
In an interview with CNN, anchor John Berman said, “This congressman here, no fan of the president, basically saying I can’t take anymore of this. I‘m leaving earlier than I thought.”
It’s that bad.
It really is.
Thanks to SGray for the heads up.
Charlie is from eastern PA and was one of the last moderate Republicans in congress. However, like my congressman Ryan Costello, also a moderate, he saw the writing on the wall since Trump has taken office.
1Rather reminiscent of the late Gingrich-era days, when Dems were bailing out– people like Paul Simon of Illinois who missed the comity the Gingrich bomb throwers destroyed.
Only this time, it’s the less fervid of the house’s Republican Study Group, teabaggers all…
2Yeah, nausea can really get to you!
3Good on him.
4So the tea baggers gotta go. I know pres Shithole is destroying the entire place, but those tea baggers in Congress got a big head start. If gerrymandering is outlawed, or Democrats get enough state houses to redistrict more decently, that should greatly reduce the number of “bomb throwers.” I think polls show the majority of Americans want to see a much higher level of cooperation among the parties in Congress.
Stinkin’ tea baggers have done a lotta damage. We need to sink their ship. They’re like the NRA. Their actual numbers among the voters are far less than the influence they wield.
5I understand the nausea that must accompany dealing with trumpiedoodle and seeing the destruction of your party at his tiny little hands, but I really wish those who are so outraged by this creature would stay and FIGHT him. You can’t overcome these atrocities by running away from it.
