  1. Marge Wood says:

Fog I love as long as it doesn’t go on too long. Kerrrrapp is a good synonym for those 4 days out of every 7 when it is brumous.

  2. Aggieland liz says:

Sigh, JJ I swear, I am in hibernation mode! Think of a tharn brown carolina anole that can barely move – that’s me 😛

  3. Polite Kool Marxist says:

The brumous will lift. But whatever weather dampens your spirits, take heart. That Blue-dog gohmert Max Baucus will soon be sucking toxic Chinese air. Montana thanks you, President Obama.

  4. fenway fran says:

I remember brumous drives to work in Galveston from Mo City during my first tour of duty in Ft. Bend. I couldn’t see anything more than a few feet in front of me rolling down highway 6 back when it was 2 lanes from Manvel to Alvin. Ah, those were the days!

    4
  5. Thought brumous was what we were going to use in Texus to sweep out the Republicanus

I’m glad you splained that, we’re brumous too but I’m happy about it because we have had 2″ rain this last couple of days which only puts us 11″ deficit YTD.

  6. Marge Wood says:

I love this group. Get out your brumous, we gots work to do. Or ride.

    6
  7. Sure shows that it’s all in your point of view. Here in California we’re getting heavy rains after an almost totally dry December and January. We couldn’t be happier. The current storm will actually put us up to about 20% of our normal annual precipitation. If you guys have any extra, ship it our way.

    7
  8. There’s also the Scottish word dreich, which means dreary.

    8
  9. Glad to help, LynnN.

    9
  10. Wa Skeptic says:

Here in the Great Northwest, brumous is the way it looks about 8 months of the year. But when the sun comes out, it’s GAWJUS! So the farmers don’t try to do their haying until 4th of July.

    10
  11. The Maryland weather report mentioned that the average for this time of year is 47°. I don’t remember when we last saw 47 and we probably won’t see it this week. Could be worse– in 1994 we got a series of ice storms and the residue took weeks to melt.

Good luck seeing that scary big shiny thing in the sky. In four months or so we’ll be wishing it was cloudy and cooler.

    11
  12. So would you trade brumous in the 40s in Fort Bend for -3 and sunshine in Chicago?

    12
  13. bill in kc says:

I love it! Old dog (me) learns new word. I’ma hafta post this on Facebook.
If you and I weren’t old married folks, and planning on staying that way, I’d be talkin’ to you.
    You’re a peach!

    13
  14. I don’t know what we have had lately….. some call it “snow”, some call it “sleet”, and some call it “freezing rain”.

Regardless. I look out in my yard, my St. Augustine grass is more brown than green. My plants are all dead as can be. Aloe Vera may have survived, but even it’s kind of “iffy”>

However, weeds are thriving. Growing like weeds. There will be a lot of flower bed clean up to do, when the weather permits.

Looking forward to Spring…. if we have one this year.

    14
  15. Marcia in CO says:

In So. CO, it is cold, foggy and pretty dreary looking! By NEXT weekend, we could be in the 70s. But that’s wintertime in the Rockies and soon enough, it will be springtime in the Rockies and totally gorgeous!!

    15
  16. Just pull the covers back up over my head…. sigh…

    16
  17. Ralph Wiggam says:

If you need something to cheer you up, read the reviews of Ted Cruz’s latest coloring book.

    http://www.amazon.com/Ted-Cruz-Future-Coloring-Activity/dp/1619530953/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1392046097&sr=1-1&keywords=ted+cruz+coloring+book

I never get tired of that!

    17
  18. Thanks, Ralph Wiggam, for the link and the heads up about the comments. They were so on point, especially the man who said he only needed a white crayon.
I hesitate to complain about the weather here in the northeast (11 degrees, ice and snow) because there’s always someplace which has it worse. I’m just tired of wearing longjohns.

    18
  19. Elizabeth2 says:

More snow last night, brilliant sun today. Headed to Vermont. Skiing. Life is good.

    19
  20. charles phillips says:

    Out here, it’s pronounced “Or-E-Gun.”

    Just so you know.

    20
  21. We had brumous on the way to church yesterday, but today it’s just cold and gray.

    No fog.

    Also no rain.

We could use…oh…eight inches over two weeks, easy.

    21
  22. Elise Von Holten says:

    Thanks, Ralph!
I loved the reach-out box of crayons–I black and 49 white to go with the coloring book…
Good to laugh on a gray stuck in bed day!

    22
  23. I needed a new word for how it was most of January. I’ve been using “tenebrous,” and my friends and family are getting tired of hearing that word, but kerrrr-ap is good, too.

    23
  24. VeeGee in VT says:

Welcome to Vermont, Elizabeth2. Our winter has been pretty good, snow on the ground, not too many thaws to wreck the scenery.

    24
  25. I propose “eeblick”, as in Oh I dunno I just feel eeblick.

    25
  26. Another Brian says:

Yep, sounds like an Oregon Coast summer day to me. Had enough of that and now live on an island in Nicaragua. Best move yet.
