Willie and Beto
If you live in a foreign state, you may not have heard that Willie and Beto drew the second largest political rally crowd in American history. They came in second to Barack Obama’s crowd in Portland in 2008. They estimate that between 55,000 – 60,000 people came to hear Willie Nelson and Beto O’Rourke in Austin this weekend.
And … 155,000 were live streaming it. If you missed it, you also missed Willie’s piano player, his 87 year old sister Bobbie, who still travels with him and the best damn harmonica player ever, Mickey Raphael.
And Willie wrote a new song. You’re gonna love it.
I love yew, Texas.
By the way, Trump is coming for Ted Cruz and said he would fill the biggest stadium in Texas. Kyle field in College Station holds 106,511 people. I’m thinking maybe Trump meant the average little league baseball stadium.
Has Fox News photoshopped in the two Teds (Cruz and Nugent), and claimed this was a Republican rally yet?
I suppose Trump 2020 will try this next year. Republicans: the truth is not in them.
1I yew TX too!
2Beto O’Rourke and Willie Nelson–two of the best come together for Texas. Go, Beto!
3Do you think there will be a video of the concert later?
4I was hoping it was 50,000, but I couldn’t estimate, because I couldn’t see the end of the crowd. They closed the bridge to traffic so the crowd could disperse after the concert. It was awesome.
5All y’all at the concert need to be registered and go VOTE!
I love lefties– we have all the good comics and folksingers on our side!
6Damn, I keep looking for the Like button and just haven’t found it!
7If someone offers you $50 to fill up the Ted/Trump rally, get your money up front.
8Buttermilk Sky, as you say money up front. And, search for exits, as 2 seconds of Teddie Crooze with Donnie are 2 seconds too many. No escape route and those two infected blowhards better bring some serious cash.
9Nice idea alas one must remember that the thuglicans literally own the voting machines.
10remember saxby stealing race from Cleland and others to numorous to cite.
beware the red shift which occur when thuglican owned voting machines and the “reported” vote, with no trail, is always 5% or more further towards whack jobs then polls, exit polls, and common sense would expect.
Couple this with alien partnership the thugs have been nurturing and Beto has to win by at least 10% of the real vote to eke out a squeaker of less then 1% in thuglican owned voting machines reports.
@Buttermilk Sky
$50??? It’d cost the m-f’ing snacilbupeR a whole lot more than 50 stinkin’ dollars to get me into a stadium of any size to “see” Canadian Raphael or the current potus. Enough that me, my kids, and my grand-kids would never have to work another day of their lives. And I plan to live forever.
snacilbupeR: F’em and the horses they rode in on.
Sorry, I’m trying to hold back my anger.
11Would it be too hopeful, seeing a crowd of that size gathered last night, that we may watch the good times roll right on through to the November Midterms?
12If Beto loses the race, Verklempt doesn’t begin to cover the anticipated emotional fallout for me.
Interesting conversation with a Silicon Valley big $$ salaried engineer….he bought property in Montana that he won’t be living in…he purchased it solely so he could display liberal candidates election posters/signs in the midst of red state Redneckistan….and offers his property for vacations to fellow liberals. He’ll still work and stay registered to vote here on the Left Coast.
On Friday a British woman in ragged plaid shirt and shredded jeans came to view a vacant apartment. She’s a newly hired “product manager” salaried at $12,000.00 a month…. for an American company that makes smoke detectors. Apparently no one else in America was qualified to market smoke detectors or needs that kind of salary to support their families. Isn’t America great again!!!!
Make the Greedy Greedier Again: “Under Trump, Companies Are Offshoring Jobs At A Record Pace”
Federal contractors alone sent more than 10,000 jobs overseas, all while raking in over $19 billion in government funding. https://www.cheatsheet.com/money-career/the-companies-offshoring-jobs-at-a-record-pace-under-trump.html/?ref=YF&yptr=yahoo
13Buttermilk Sky, if I were somehow induced to go to a Cruz/Trump rally, it would take more than $50 just to buy me enough vomit bags to get in the door and, as quickly as possible, back out, through all the people — and I use the term loosely — who would be attending because they wanted to. Just that last thought is making me feel as if a bad bunch of norovirus is trying to claw its way back to the surface.
14This Finger Lakes New Yorker gave big bucks (for me) to our local state senate and US congress critters, but I threw $50 to Beto. And I love yew Willie!
15Damn! I’ve loved Willie for a long time.
16K:
17I’ve been pessimistic about electronic voting machines from the beginning. Too much chance of hackers hacking. Not just no accountability. False accountability.
And like you mentioned, so many races that have come down to the wire, when repugnantcans miraculously turn out at the last minute and turn the tide by the skin of their teeth. But the exit polls show different outcomes. Funny how exit polls started being less reliable around the same time electronic voting machines became prevalent.
RE: Willies enthusiastic endorsement of Beto:
FWIW, a local San Antonio TV station, KSAT/CH12, has been running teaser promos this weekend for an upcoming segment on today’s (Monday) news programs that appears to be about local (mostly) RWNJ’s reactions to finding out that Willie is (and has been forever) a hippie liberal progressive left-wing nut! OMFG! What took them so long?
It might be worth a watch on the TV or streaming it if you can (for those of you with adequate ISP service to actually stream stuff).
The segment is supposed to air on the Monday 10PM CDT news (tonight), but may run on the 5 or 6 PM news program too (I sometimes watch the 10PM, never the 5PM).
It might be a hoot, I suspect it will be slanted to the RW side/POW anyway.

(PS: They have revamped their website, apparently rolled out a new ‘look’ today (the 1st of month/Oct), it now sucks worse than most media outlets websites, IMO.
And if y’all knew just how invasive almost all media websites (esp. TV/radio/networks) were, you’d take some defensive moves to protect yourselves from them. And/or just not, or very rarely, visit them, as I do.
18FuxNooz is probably the worst of all, my browsers’ blockers/protection features go absolutely nuts if I should visit a Fox webpage. It blocks over a hundred dodgy links/ads/trackers/etc from a Fox webpage, far more than most others.)
