Whoa, Whoa, Whoa

Okay, here it is.

The House impeachment managers on Thursday formally requested that former President Trump testify under oath in his Senate impeachment trial that kicks off next week.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the Democrats’ lead impeachment manager, sent a letter to Trump and his attorneys after Trump’s legal team filed a response denying what Raskin called “incontrovertible facts” about the former president’s role in the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol.

.
Nobody is going to ask you about your taxes, you paying off hookers, or any of the thousand other lies you’ve told to the American people.  We only want to know about the events leading up to January 6.  That’s all.
.
Hillary had the guts to do it for two days.  They found nothing. Come on, Donald, do it.

Be social and share!

  1. Him just a martyr getting all picked on! BOO HOO!

  2. Harry Eagar says:

I foresee great problems if he does testify in public. In private, maybe OK.

The McCarthy hearings (there were, in all, 7 of them) showed that a a McCarthy or trump sort of audacious liar is almost impossible to control in ordinary proceedings.

  3. About those taxes…

Today is the final day for citizen orange to turn in documents in a tax fraud case as ordered by a judge.

Edit: The Times details several alleged tax evasion scams Trump might have been using, and points to its own “analysis of Mr. Trump’s financial records by the Times [that] found that he had avoided federal income tax on almost all of the forgiven debt.”

Oh, please. And then let the Q shaman guy, who now says he was “duped” by trump, testify against him. In public and in costume. There isn’t enough popcorn in the country for that show.

  5. Steve from Beaverton says:

Oh man, that will be a circus. Then, yes, have all the insurrectionist clowns who’ve already blamed Trumpf come in and testify as to who they were following when they broke into the capital, killed a policeman, trampled a fellow rioter, threatened to kill members of congress and peed and shit in halls of democracy. Bring it on.
I have been wondering about Trumpf’s culpability for those that were invited and spoke at his rally the mob and specifically called for going into combat, etc. (Giuliani for one). It was Trumpf’s event and he did nothing to counter that message.

    OMFG, Hell Yes!
Get that Rufous Ratbastard up there running his garrulous rectal annex, and let the whole effen world watch.
Although I sorta think that Vladimir Putin just might have a scosh of Polonium210 slipped into Comrade Donnei’s Diet Coke before something like this happens.

    6
  7. Oh yeah, another ‘excellent’ witless for the Rufous Ratbastard’s Second Impeachment Trial would be the ‘MyPillowsSuck’ whackjerk Mike Lindell. Get that one wound up and spinning like dirty diapers in a washing machine, watch the shit fly.

  8. Bring on the popcorn!

I’d like to see him testify under oath. It will go quickly sideways in the ditch. He’ll be out of control ranting and screaming. Maybe he’ll be charged with contempt. I hope they show all evidence from videos and his digital media accounts.

Buttermilk Sky @ 4 and Steve from Beaverton @ 3,
The Q shaman in full costume, all those insurrectionists and don’t forget Ghouliani.

  9. The Surly Professor says:

Harry Eagar @2: a big difference between McCarthy and T**** is that McCarthy had constitutionally mandated protection for what he said. So he could freely slander witnesses and others, claim he had 200 or 57 names of Communist Party members in his pocket (while it was more likely a flask of booze in his pocket), and just plain say anything he wanted in the hearings while protected by Article 1, Section 6.

As McConnell et al are bleating loudly now, T**** is just an ex-President and failed real estate speculator.

To get him to testify, we need some media people calling him sissy, coward, and a whipped cur. Anything that will get him all cranked up and ready to “show everyone how brave he is.”

    9
  10. Sweet! Methinks his lawyers may have stepped too far. Now their client must support those facts with testimony, under oath. Whether behind closed doors, or in public, the FBI should be there taking notes. If he takes the Fifth, it can be construed against him, since this is not a criminal proceeding. If he doesn’t, he either incriminates himself or testifies falsely, in my humble view. (I’m biased against him.)

  11. Jane & PKM says:

No disrespect to Senator Leahy, but we really would prefer if it were Vice President Harris presiding over Donnie’s Senate trial. But better Leahy, a Democrat, than doormat John Roberts.

  12. Brad in Dallas says:

Orangeman’s lawyers have said he won’t show. What a loss for history (and comedy).

    12
  13. @Sandrige, from what I’ve read, Putin poisoned Navalny by putting the stuff in his underpants. (Read that on cnn.com.) Seems much more fitting to me for tRump.

  14. Skepticat says:

Rather than having guts, Chump is a tub o’ guts.

    14
  15. J P Bowater says:

One little problem – MR TRUMP, EVEN UNDER OATH, ALWAYS LIES .

    15
  16. djw @13, Putin poisoned Navalny with a nerve agent drug, Novichok. Novichok was also used on other expat Russians [Skripals], and collaterally some Brits.
Not the radioactive polonium 210, which was used to kill a Russian expat, Litvinenko, in the UK; and others.

Putin and his SVR, FSB and FSO are busy-bees indeed.
