Who You Callin’ Deadbeat, Mitch?
President Obama made it clear today that while we have a deadbeat Congress we are not a deadbeat nation.
Now listen to Ole Mitch yabber —
“The president and his allies need to get serious about spending, and the debt-limit debate is the perfect time for it,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said in a statement.
No, it is not. Not paying my electric bill because I want to cut back on electricity leaves me with no heating or lights while I’m trying to figure out a way to cut back. Not paying the bill for what you’ve already used leaves to you freezing in the dark. And that is exactly what Mitch McConnell wants for America. Just to make Obama look bad.
McConnell makes my butt itch.
So it’s a “debt-limit debate” now, is it?
I guess hostages over the centuries must have had some fascinating debates with their kidnappers. Some of the hostages even survived those “debates.”
1meanwhile I haven’t heard anyone in the republican party saying – hey let’s all take a cut in salary and benefits!
2Great analogy, JJ – I may borrow that one to explain this manufactured crisis to my logic-impaired friends.
There are plenty of REAL problems Mr McConnell and his pals could be focusing on – instead, they’re blathering about things that don’t make sense just to stir up trouble. Doesn’t make my butt itch – it makes me see red!
Also, like most folks, I pay my electric bill, while sealing up cracks in windows, wearing extra socks, and shutting the guest bedroom door. I don’t bitch to the electric company about maybe not paying my bill because… well, just because I’m crabby about electric rates. I agreed to the service, I pay the bill. That’s how it works. The difference is that if I DON’T pay my bill, it doesn’t shut down the electric grid for my town.
These guys a really callous, really stupid, or most likely, both.
3Not paying my electric bill because I want to cut back on electricity leaves me with no heating or lights while I’m trying to figure out a way to cut back. Not paying the bill for what you’ve already used leaves to you freezing in the dark.
Great analogy, JJ
4Whoever said turtles were thinkers?
5From now on when my butt itches, I’ll treat it with “Preparation Mitch”.
6Yes, republicans, lecture us, the American people about responsibility. Tell us about the wars you started and did not think you had to pay for. Tell us again, VP cheney that “deficits do not matter”.
Please tell us while you destroy the US’s credit ratings. While the world looks at us and laughs.
I cannot stand republican politicians. The hypocrisy does not even astound me anymore.
7Juanita. Mine too. It must be catching.
8I have a serious question for all of you who are so much more enlightened on these matters. If these loonies actually succeed in not increasing the debt limit, with all the negative consequences that will happen to us and the country and the world, is there a way to bring impeachment proceedings against individual members who voted to do that? If so, I want to sign up. These people need to understand they can’t be messing with us!
9Itchy-Mitchy is so dumb he’s still trying to rig things so that Obama will be a one-term President.
10I don’t think you can impeach a representative or senator. But you can arrest and try them for Treason — plotting for the downfall of the United States. We can prove that, as long as the video resides on YouTube.
11They’re so damn fond of reminding the President that Congress is the keeper of the purse, why doesn’t someone come out and ask Them- why they don’t want to pay for the money They’ve Already spent?? Nobody seems inclined to throw it back at Them!
12The optimists were whistling Dixie when they thought that Obama’s reelection meant that relations with Congress in his second four years would be any more harmonious. The nutjobs who sprang up in 2008 live on as a cancer in our society. They may go into remission from time to time, but curing our country of their scourge may never be entirely possible. Yet it is a battle from which we dare not retreat. Remembering the wisdom of Edmund Burke: “”When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.”
13@ WC Peterson, thanks for the clarification. It sounds like any action taken would have to be at the state level (?) and since Texas is a blood red state, not much chance of succeeding, but then sending the message may be enough to at least wake some of these jokers up….soooooooo sick of all this!
14So I’m thinkin we should flood Yurtle’s in-box with scans of bills, with the word “Deadbeat Senator from KY(Oh the things I could do with that…..) Needs to Grow Up and Pay your Damn Bills!”
15Let’s see. Republicans are going to have a snot slinging fit over paying the bills on all the spending they wanted to do in the last budget just because there’s a black guy in the White House.
I get it. No I don’t. If I got it I’d have to worry about myself.
