Who Could Have Seen This Coming?
Rush Limbaugh says he may not renew his contract Cumulus Media. He’s upset with the “repeated criticism from the network’s CEO over Limbaugh’s offensive comments about Sandra Fluke, which allegedly lost the company millions of dollars in advertising revenue.”
Way to stinkin’ go, y’all! I’m really proud of you.
Limbaugh and his ego say that he’s not the cause of the company losing money.
The news of Limbaugh’s possible departure comes one day ahead of Cumulus’s Tuesday earnings call, at which Dickey Is once again likely to address the impact the Fluke controversy has had on advertising. The source close to the show described Dickey’s remarks about advertising revenue as unjustified, and said such “criticism” of Limbaugh had resulted in the consideration to leave the company.
Yeah, leave before you’re tossed out on your ample hiney, Rush.
Did I mention that over 100 advertisers have now left Rush?
Thanks to Kellbee for the heads up.
Maybe other employers will be beating down his door now. Maybe, they, too, would like to lose most of their advertisers. Maybe hate is not as profitable as it was before.
1JJ:
2I checked on Daily Kos and found a May 3rd diary that says as of that date more than 2600 advertisers have left Limbaugh’s program.
If you want to join the “fun” there’s Stop Rush, Flush Rush, and others.
Here’s the DK diary:

Too bad all those Republican grumpy old white men don’t know how to use social media.
I am thrilled to know somewhere, even when we can’t see or hear it, we can push back and it works!! next will be his impending divorce if it hasn’t already happened quietly.
3The day ol’ Rush Limburger leaves the airwaves there’ll be a sudden increase of the cumulative IQ of AM radio by at least 25-30 points.
“Some of the stuff that people say on the radio… feels like i get penalized by one IQ point just for listening to it.” (And in some cases, we’ve got listeners who are now sporting room temperature IQ’s… Celsius, not Fahrenheit.)
4Hallelujiah! This is too wonderful to believe. If only he has become poison for any station and can’t find a way to spew his hate.
5Cumulus is owned by Clear Channel Communications, which was acquired in a leveraged buy-out in 2008 by Bain Capital. In doing so, Bain siphoned all of the value out of Clear Channel and left it deep in debt. So deep they’ll never dig out.
6It warms my heart to know that the Greed of Romney will end up being the deciding factor that takes Rush Limbaugh off the air. Poetic justice.
@Jan, thanks for the link. Bain is an owner of Clear Channel and it appears they have reduced the number of employees there. Romney must be so proud.
7Maybe Glenn Beck will hire him. Beck has a network or something, doesn’t he?
8Gee, I’m really upset. NOT!
9Another whiny right winger. They spew out so much hatred, and they’re so delicate and sensitive when anyone says anything back to them….
Poor iddy-biddy-baby boy…did somebody hurt ‘is iddle feelings…GOOD.
10Rush is leaking his plans now so that he can claim that he is dropping this network. It is clear that this network is going to either drop Rush or lower the amount being paid for Rush’s program.
Rush’s contract with Clear Channel runs through 2016 and Clear Channel has been losing money in large part due to Rush. It will be interesting to see if Clear Channel can survive these losses or if Clear Channel will seek to renogitate with Rush. I seriously doubt that Clear Channel will be renewing this agreement on the current terms
11I recollect first hearing Rush prior to Clinton 42’s first election. Rush already disliked the candidate, decided that should he be elected Rush would denounce him daily. Until that moment I equated Rush with Jim Hightower: a man with deeply held, yet conservative beliefs and a bully pulpit. Not so. Rush was and is a Fascist intent on destroying by any means necessary the loyal opposing party
12Oh poor Rush. How’s he going to pay for his oxycontin? And Bain? They buy a company with someone else’s money, destroy the company, then walk away with oodles of profit. Only in America. At least the Cumulus jobs can’t be outsourced overseas. I think.
13Can’t wait to give Sandra Fluke a standing ovation tomorrow at the Annie’s List luncheon. Go Sandra!!!
14Limbaugh remains the highest rated radio talk show host, according to all reports. Accepting that statement as true, who listens to radio talk shows? Age, race, education, occupation, and where the listener lives would all be telling. My guess is that a huge part of his audience remains made up of $20,000 a year millionaires who are angry that a black man is employed at the White House as president rather than as a cook or gardner.
15That info about the Bain buyout left me “mouth wide open”…the stinky synchronicity of it all is so funny…its like karma. Limblowhard likes his power, he wants to be Karl Rove but bigger, a kingmaker so all should kiss his big ass. Beck ain’t gonna hire him…these little gods are jealous. And the reason he let this slip is in the hop his fans will support him…Rush! they have no money, honey, they can’t help you…can’t take irate phone calls to the bank. If the twit hadda kept his fat mouth shut, he coulda quietly begged for mercy. Nobody is going to hire him cause they can’t control his mouth. Didn’t he watch what happened to Beck and Faux News? You know he thought “NEVER happen to me…I am the Almighty Rush! Money talks and bullshit walks..buhbye!
16Let’s not forget that the daughter of Clear Channel Chairman Lowry Mays and sister of CEO Mark Mays is Linda McCaul, wife of the Congressman (R-Gerrymander) whose district runs from Austin to Houston. Troubles with Limbaugh couldn’t have any legislative impact, now, could they?
