When A Plan Comes Together

July 03, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Here’s a blast from the past:  Bristol Palin, of Dancing With The Stars fame, is so pleased about the Hobby Lobby decision that she told her “fans” to go to Hobby Lobby today and send her the pictures.  She promised to post her favorites on Facebook and “other social media.”

What could possibly go wrong with that plan?

Yeah, this.

Using the hashtag #HobbyLobbyLove, real women took to Twitter and made some suggestion about what Bristol could do with her favorites.

  2. Why does Bristol’s ghost blogger want to make her look like
    a fool—constantly?

  3. I could not stop reading the comments, hats off to Bristol Palin for such a great idea! She must feel such a sense of satisfaction. To realize that she’s still relevant (although probably not in the way intended). But I’m sure any kind of attention is appreciated these days.

  4. I hate to see HL getting all this hate, aside from the fact the corporate entity deserves it.

The teachers in my family spend major dollar amounts there in August and September each year preparating their classrooms. I’m not sure if the swells of ignorance can be pushed back quite so well without HL in the mix.

  5. Hey, Micr, is there any chance that the teachers in your family could make do with “clean up your desk” donations? Or even “clean up your house?” I haven’t taught in decades but I know exactly whereof you speak. Back then there weren’t any Michael’s or Moore’s of Hobby Lobby. We did just fine with what we could get from old wallpaper sample books the paint stores threw away, etc. etc. Lately I have been donating box loads of paper, pencils, etc. to a school where the children are on government lunches and so forth. They appreciate the learning materials more than the construction paper.

Robert Reich had great column in Huff Post today. He states that the Supremes (once again) chose to honor corporate rights while ignoring the individual rights of women. It just doesn’t compute. This was not about freedom of religion, as the corporate owners were never prevented from following their beliefs. It was about power, just like rape.

  7. Bless her heart…try to imagine going through life with a goose mind and a mama to match. Say, does Bristol have a brother name of Myers?

  8. Polite Kool Marxist says:

What’s a girl like Bristol to do, when the Mommy Dearest grifter is beyond irrelevant? Settle down Snow Dog Snookie the second and be grateful Momma grifter tossed you enough cash to learn a trade. Yep, earn a living like 99.9 of us Americans.

Bristol, given all the chances you had via graft and corruption, maybe you could jump in an Alaskan Bay, or somehow jump start your neural synapses and understand one basic fact. Every child in America deserves a shot at a good education.

Let me make it simple for you. Cuts to education are the worst route to a ‘balanced’ budget that sane people can imagine. your Mommy is big into word salad. So, let me introduce you into some seriously crazy acronym salad.

CIA, NSA, DIA, and HLS, who did what to prevent 9/11 or make us safer with the bloated budgets they received post 9/11? Here’s the thing little girl, Osama Bin Laden may be dead, but he wins, if we give up our freedoms at home and continue blind butt stupid militarizing one faction or another in the Middle East.

Educate me folks, but I cannot imagine a time in history, when giving negotiations a chance to achieve peace could be more critical.

Drones, ‘smart’ bombs and USA boots and blood on the ground cannot achieve what humanitarian aid can do. Dubya and Darth Dickie’s friends took us down the Yellow Brick road. Can you imagine what 10% that same $3+ trillion dollars had been spent on infrastructure?

For such a deal, Saddam would probably have resigned and sent his family into rehab.

Sorriest part among so sorry parts, Darth Dick promised us that Iraqi oil would pay for the war and greet the US as liberators. There you have it DICK, China and Russia, thank you, you war criminal moron.

Oh yeah, Bristol, some of us don’t want the Bush/Cheney war crimes descended onto your soldiers. We want the liar war criminals and idiots like your Momma to pay the bill.

I couldn’t quit laughing. The best one was a question about the IUD making class. What gauge copper wire; beads or no beads?

Biggomama-if she had a brother named Meyers and they had a child together, they would call it Squibb.

    11
  12. Polite Kool Marxist says:

e platypus onion, Palin naming would mean that Squibb be named Tuibb, Tquibb or some variety of T. Palin boys are Ts, for Todd or treason.

Meh? Jane and I have a beautiful reservation on the shore of Lake Tahoe for the weekend. Ponderosa Country! I’ll be off work in another 45 minutes and cannot wait to load the car and relax for the weekend with Jane and our dog. Yeah, “her dog” has won her way into my heart. Can’t wait to play with the pup in the water and hike the shorelines.

Hope everyone has a wonderful & safe Fourth of July!

…grumpily cleaning off the keyboard *again* after dousing it with my last cup of tea of the day…

I’ll share this in honor and memory of my beloved Aunt Harriet, who began teaching in the 1930s in the Midwest. Harriet was a proponent of hormone regulation therapy to prevent pregnancies. But Harriet also knew that it was the ‘good girls’ who were pregnant more often than the ‘bad girls’ and that the innocent were more often victims of rape and incest. I am not in favor of abortion (no one is), but it has to be legal and available for those who need it.

Harriet’s biggest lesson, though, was integrity. Bristol Palin has none. How did she get the idea that she was entitled to make pronouncements about other people’s morality?

What kind of country is it when Duggars and Palins are getting news, and grade-school kids are escaping from Guatemala *alone* and scared?

Thank you for making me laugh at the little Palin news whore, at the end of a vicious news week.

  15. Loved this comment:

    — If Bristol Palin really followed the Bible she would have been stoned to death already (Deuteronomy 22:13-21)

And the DIY IUD class question….

  16. The freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution all have limits, basically starting at the point where one person’s “freedom” infringes on another person’s rights. You can’t shout “Fire” in a crowded theater and you shouldn’t be able to impose you religious views on employees who don’t share them.

Unless Hobby Lobby is highly unusual then they pay only part of an employee’s health insurance costs, meaning the employee pays for the rest. Odd that Hobby Lobby’s financial interest trumps that of all the employees combined.

    16
  17. @maggie: Apparently you geniuses named Margaret think alike! My little bride has brought in several plastic boxes with instructions to pitch in the tons of gimme schwag I get from vendors, elected officials, etc. Pens, pencils being her primary target.

    17
  18. Micr, bless her heart! This is kind of an antidote for the stepping in horse puckey this week SCOTUS. Not the cure. Just an antidote. Anybody out there think that Hobby Lobby will see a depletion of current wage slaves and have a tough time getting replacements? I mean, who would want to work for an outfit that has had such press! I can just imagine the smart remarks coming at current Hobby Lobby staff and owners, such as, “Sell much rubber?”

  20. Sarah’s children are all more to be pitied than censured…until they’re over 30, at which point they should’ve had enough exposure to the real world to grow up.

    20
  21. This is hilarious! It reminds me of the great social networking feat pulled off by NYPD when they asked folks to send in their photos of “NYPD and me!”
