Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
Sorry you’re still waiting – I have electricity but my building has a broken water pipe so no heat or hot water.
This morning I heard a U of H professor talk about ERCOT. IT was started during Shrub’s governorship to deregulate (fav GOP word) so what that means is generators only get paid when it’s needed so in summer all are producing and in winter only a few produce because usually it’s not needed and they can’t sell it. It’s like having a baseball team but only the ten who take the field get paid, and benchwarmers don’t, so they leave. If a player gets hurt, there’s no sub. Whatever Abbott says about wind power being frozen or solar power blah blah blah is just a Baloney Sandwich!
1Glad to hear you’re OK JJ. I was wondering how you were faring while looking at the power outage map. If it helps:
https://poweroutage.us/area/state/texas
I also read what a cluster f*ck the power grid in Tx is as far
as sharing with your neighboring states. No power in or out.
Just what we make here !!
Hoping you remain warm and comfy………….
2Glad you’re ok. Hope you stay warm.
3It’s probably not a good time to talk about politics except that, well, I can’t help myself. Besides blaming the TX state leadership on power infrastructure, I’d blame ted cruz for his infamous criticism of California and their power grid. Karma got back at him and made everyone else cold and in the dark.
Two words: thermal underwear. Had them since I worked in the PA steel mills 30 odd years ago. Tattered after 30 years but I still get them down from the shelf, top and leggings for sleeping in and a pair of socks for sleeping in the cold snaps.
4Bedtime? No socks or any constrictive clothing slowing your blood flow which warms you. Strip the beds in your guest rooms for added warmth to swaddle in your beds. Get nekkid, or loose jammies if you must, but cuddle. Rules? meh Invite those dogs and/or cats into/onto your bed; you can work on their “manners” later, after they save your freezing butts.
5Glad you all are okay.
6Glad to hear this!
7Don’t like to take enjoyment from other people’s troubles, but this is worth a read.

8Terry Weldon, if that didn’t seem so sincere I’d have to believe if was fake–almost too funny to be real! Schadenfreude to keep me warm, eh?
In Bryan, I’m getting power cycles of about 2 hours at a time–on long enough to warm the house up, not off long enough for it to get too cold. I’m sort of planning what to do when it comes back next between times. My sister and b-i-l on the other side of town seem not to have lost power at all, which is good b/c of their health issues.
Aggieland has opened Reed Arena to give people a place to get warm–except that the streets are still covered in ice and snow…
9@Terry Weldon #8 – thank you for that! Ohmygosh! They only have an electric can opener!!! How in the heck does this guy open his C-Rations when he’s larping with his cosplay friends?!?!?!
10Guv Goodhair Perry wants Texans to endure cold without heat to keep fed out of Texas business.
