Well, I do not see a problem here.  Let them.

I wonder where they are going?

On Wednesday, the Platform Committee of the Texas Republican Party voted to put a Texas independence resolution up for a vote at this week’s GOP convention, according to a press release from the pro-secession Texas Nationalist Movement. The resolution calls for allowing voters to decide whether the Lone Star State should become an independent nation.

Oh wait, they want to make me join them and quit singing God Bless America and give back my social security?

That ain’t damn happening.   Ever.

They reckon that it has very little chance of passing.  That’s what they also reckoned about about Donald Trump winning the nomination and Dan Patrick being taken seriously.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

Be social and share!

  1. Speaking of bad things happening in threes, secession, Drumpf and Danny Goeb. Is it right that the sane minority must be punished along with the insane majority??

  2. WA Skeptic says:

I guess the Lege doesn’t bother to read the Texas constitution where it says that after the Civil War, they swore never to do something like that again.

    Dumb.

If Texas ever secedes, the US needs to keep Austin as a protectorate; or we need to go independent too, as a city-state like Singapore. 🙂

The land mass stays. The snacilbupeR can pack their bags and swim to Uganda.

Why wait for the vote? Let’s throw every last one of them supporting secession out now. Here’s your hat, what’s your hurry.

  6. UmptyDump says:

Questions. If the rest of the country finally got fed up enough with Texas and threw the state out on its ear, would Texans be offended? If Donald Trump got his wall built between Texas and the remaining U.S. states, could he get Texas to pay for it?

  7. Whatever group is promoting this was on campus several times this past year. Signs saying Want to vote for Texas Independence? Sign the petition Wednesdays 10-2PM in the Quad. I never saw students around the table.

Well, Texas has been inching in this direction for years and years now. Here’s why it will never happen:

Which states have the money to pay into the Federal coffers year after year after year? Why, that would be the Blue States. And which states line up at DC’s gates with their hands out? Guess.

Texas ain’t gonna give up its ride on the gravy train. It just ain’t gonna do it. It does love to threaten, though. Here’s what I think the nation’s response should be:

  9. Umptydump, if someone wants to build a wall between Texas and me, I’d help pay for it if it meant no more crazyass Texas presidents (or candidates wasting our time and attention) and no more of my tax money going to ungrateful buggers with their hands stuck out.

No offense intended to JJ and other good and rational Texans.

    9
  10. Rhea and Umptydump, what we need is not a wall but a semi-permeable membrane that lets sane folks come and go at will but keeps the dafties at home in Waco or Lubbock or whatever bat-cave it is from which they are emitted in noxious clouds to fly off to DC and leave guano all over our nice federal government.

    10
  11. Laurel, I’m reminded of an article about various scientific ways to catch a lion. One was to sweep across the savannah a semi-permeable membrane, permeable to everything except lions.

    11
  12. Under one condition would I even ponder this as a viable idea…if Trump wins the general election…

If that happens, I’m not sure where I’d like to be, but not under his thumb is a definite!

    @Star

I thought the same way about Pat Robertson in 1988, when he won the Washington State caucuses–or ca-ca-says. I changed my mind; why should I give up MY life and livelyhood for him?

    13
  14. Has that crazy governor started negotiations to transfer all the military bases out of “Texas yet?

I don’t even know how I stumbled onto this site, but I am LMAO!!!!! This is awesome. Thanks for letting us know there really ARE sane, liberal and progressive Texans@!!!!
