The hotel just put out a statement that they’ll close January 4th-6th, when thousands of Trump supporters are expected to come to the capitol for a last-ditch rally. Many just lost reservations.

Business is about making money. And the number of people who are “Boi curious” (or adjacent) are tiny compared to normal ones…
1Since the author of that announcement seems to be the only person in the capital taking a long view, I propose putting him on the Supreme Court
2Props to them! They are trying to save their reputation for future tourists and with the locals. Who knew anybody actually lived there? I actually shouldn’t be surprised, since I worked in hotels in my younger days and the old ones like the Harrington always had a few old people who lived there permanently.
3Smart. In the hotel trade there’s a standard for minimum investment rate where the break even point of the costs outweigh the absorbed cost of vacant rooms. The damages a bunch of gun toting baboons loose on the premises … not to mention the safety of their more permanent guests and any people passing by the windows. The accountants and lawyers for the Hotel Harrington are resting easier after that announcement ..
4Wonder if the Trumpf hotel will step up and offer discounts and free breakfast and happy hour for the pee roud boys next week.
5And speaking of Dee Cee, was just listening to moscow Mitch speaking/slobbering to the senate, and he said they would focus on Trumpf’s 3 priorities this week- 1) placating him by punishing big tech platforms because he’s pissed at them for calling out his lies,;2) addressing his concerns about voter fraud in the presidential election; 3) the $2000 stimulus.
I am very curious exactly how he plans to lead the senate with respect to Trumpf voter fraud lies as January 6 approaches.
Lastly, apparently Trumpf was communicating directly with Perdue and Loeffler on their using the $2000 stimulus to help their campaigns.
Jane & PKM: Agree with your assessment. Proud Boys unlikely to be ideal hotel guests, filled as they are with pride, entitlement, and disdain for others. Have run into this kind (though not then labeled Proud Boys) at various conventions around the country and they’re a PITA.
6Just as pimples localize infection, Proud Boys are the manifestation of American Exceptionalism, with its overweening pride, self-aggrandizement, and total disregard for any others on the planet.
7Not surprised at all. Quantrell’s Raiders is an early show of this pimple on the a$$ of America’s dream. The John Birch Society, Rush Limbaugh, Tucker Carlson and of course ….. .
