Well, damn
Both El Jefe and I are up to our necks today. I’m fixing to go into the courtroom where they make me turn off my phone. Not just silence it – turn it off.
El Jefe is traveling and will check in when he can.
Meanwhile, talk among yourselves about whatever is on the news today.
I shall return!
I find Lil Bubba’s case interesting because Conservatives like to talk about personal responsibility … until you hold them responsible for their actions. Then, you’re violating their First or Second Amendment rights.
Constitutional law is a unique practice area because the court is always balancing two competing rights against each other. When does Jones’ First Amendment right burden the shooting victim’s Freedom of Association, Privacy, or other liberties? Pundits like Jones feel their rights are unlimited, and that makes for great theater and rhetoric, but the pundits fail to respect that everyone else would be similarly entitled to unlimited rights too in their world – like an absolute right to privacy.
This is not a small case. It puts a spotlight on the balance the Alt-Right has undone and upset with social media.
Go Bubba! Make Texas Proud Again!

2I think I speak for everyone back home at the salon when I say, we are ALL there in spirit with Bubba Jr. so you are absolutely where you should be! I for one am eagerly anticipating you update on today’s hearing and hoping that you won’t be subjected to another 30+ minutes of Alex Jones on TV (aka known as eons of your life that you can never get back).
James, your observations are well put. If memory serves, and it doesn’t always, I seem to recall a SCOTUS case that discussed whether you could yell “FIRE!” in a crowded theater.
The consensus was you can’t unless there is a fire. Subsequently, SCOTUS held that time, place and manner distinctions also impacted whether a person’s “freedom of speech” could be restricted. None of our rights are absolute not even Alex (guy who looks like he’s consumed way too much of the snake oil he’s been selling), Jones. As a wise woman once said, “My right to swing my fist, stops at the end of your nose.” *
*Rand Paul’s neighbor notwithstanding.
3Another Russpublican perv has been found out. He was a state senator in Illinois, served on the sexual harassment committee. Guess he hasn’t gotten it right yet. WaPo has the story.

4Also, Tangerine Wankmaggot is up to an average of 7.6 lies per day, 1 entire lie higher than previously. How did he make that big jump? By averaging *averaging* 16 lies Per Day I June and July.
Sixteen lies Per day. Average. WTF. So a bad day for him was only 12 and a good day was 20 lies?
Who does that? Who lies 16 times per day? I can even wrap my head around that. SIXTEEN.
516 lies per day?
He must start his day with special presidential Wheat(l)ies for breakfast.
The High Fib(er) variety.
6Today, Dump trotted out Bolton and Dan Coates to show how he is on top of the Russian hacking situation. Noe how he, himself, did not show and Coates admitted he does not fully understand what happened in Helsinki. Now that makes us soooo confident in their competence.
7At least four immigrant women have been fired at Dulles International Airport in recent months, all worked for the same Texas-based company, Huntleigh USA, and they all claim they were not given a chance to defend themselves. Read this story and weep. These deplorables are embarrassing your home state.

Fran, the story is gut wrenching. I’ve been trying to find out how to help, let me know if you hear something.

Just another “Family Values” Republican….

Here’s the link to a GoFundMe page that has been set up for her.

11Huntleigh USA, huh?
12Sounds like it might be time for a review of some vendor contracts. Even if their employees can be fired at will, it sounds like they’re systematically targeting and firing immigrants.
I told ya’ll Bubba Jr.’s case was worth watching because its implications go beyond just a few terrorized families.
Today, Juanita Jean told how the NRA is complaining that Gov. Cuomo is using his office to destroy their business. When being held accountable for their dangerous words and actions, the NRA hides behind the First Amendment. Sounds familiar! Sounds like something that just got said in Austin this week!
Let’s see, what other gobermint official has taken to publically trashing private enterprises and organizations? Perhaps these links will help …
