Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
I was in NYC on the Friday before Christmas last year and it is shocking to see the place so empty. It sure wasn’t empty last December. Likewise in DC, there is absolutely no traffic. Downtown is like a Sunday in August (when everybody is on vacation).
1Black & White photos reproduce the stark reality of a pandemic … ideally it will fail to become ubiquitous, uniform or iniversal.
2Those pics just blow me away. My cousin lives in Manhattan and said it was like living in a ghost town. He’s a graphic artist and is happy for the quiet to get business taken care of but also wants the vibrancy to return.
3I knew before I looked that I’d be reminded of Vanilla Sky.
4I was right.
There’s an old movie called “The World, the Flesh and the Devil” where only three people are left on earth. Luckily, one of them is Harry Belafonte.
5Buttermilk Sky #5 – Oh, yes! A good liberal with a lovely voice. Exactly who one would want to survive.
“The Quiet Earth” is another one – walking across Australia because you think there’s someone on the other end of a phone line.
